Made me wait 4 hours to see a doctor in pain while tons of nurses were all hanging around doing nothing ! I just sat in a room waiting until they finally came to see me. Then they charge you an arm and a leg just for being there ! Said it was intermediate only for an IV and blood work charged me for both plus 4500$ JUST FOR BEING THERE not including everything else. So I got a call at 9:22am to see if I wanted to come in earlier for my appointment. I scheduled a 4:30pm appointment because I work until 4pm. so I let the gentleman who called know this. He said ok see you at 4:30 and even got a text "see you at 4:30pm!" I get there, 10minutes early, and they take me in to the room. Take my vitals and then the nurse tells me Dr Jain was in surgery but she's usually on time, and she was going to check. I told her no worries. 10'ish minutes she comes back in and tells me "Dr Jain isn't coming back to the office" This Dr was at Griffin Hispital...ACROSS THE STREET...but isn't coming back! What a HORRIBLE first impression! They asked if I wanted to reschedule, ABSOLUTELY NOT! And I instructed them not to bill me! I'll be calling to get another Dr at Yale instead! I'm also calling my insurance to let them know not to pay her a dime!! read more

I wanted to acknowledge and thank all the workers at Griffin Health at the Vaccination Center in Shelton CT on Progress Drive. When I say all the workers, this includes the Nursing stall, the intake workers, the military staff, the waiting room attendants and the phone line staff that initiated our appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine. The entire process was so streamlined , efficient and well organized. For the hundreds and hundreds of patients they must see a day, they were friendly and welcoming. I was seen right on time, walked through my barium swallow (YUK!) procedure and let on my way with a free coffee coupon for the cafeteria. I am very disappointed with the emergency room and how it's being run. I went in at 5:55p after a fall at home injuring my rt foot/ankle and left knee. I was put into a room and had X-rays fairly quick. and then sat there for 3.5-4 hours with no reappearance from anyone. My son went to the nurses station to find out how much longer. He was told that there are sicker people in the emergency room than me. there was a code that came in but that was in the other end of the ER. I worked in that ER for 13 years and know that pa's and staff from a different pod do not run to a code. staff in that pod take care of it. Anyway I just left disappointed in the quality of care from an emergency room that I was so proud to work in for so many years. it's Yale for me only from now on. read more

We loved Griffin Hospital and this wonderful facility needs some Yelp love! First, it's beautifully brand new. The bathrooms are glossy. The waiting rooms have free coffee and snacks, along with plentiful wifi, TVs, and even a modern glass fireplace. There's a self-playing piano in the lobby. Orchids on the entry. You get the drift! It looks more like a hotel than a hospital! But who cares - you're there for your health. Let me tell you, the doctors and nurses are top-notch. I took my mother there for her cataract surgery. Everyone we met was polite, friendly, kind and competent. The blood draw and IV placement was painless. They even advertise needle-free blood draw technology, cutting edge, which is pretty cool. Our surgeon Dr. Cervantes is always kind and does amazing work. To cap it all off, in post-op a staff member came by to say she's part of the massage department and gave both my mother and myself! - a free massage session. Oh, and the valet parking for patients was free. I've stayed in a lot of hospitals and even though Griffin is small, it's one of the best places I've been to for healthcare. It's very friendly and personalized, and my mom said she 'didn't feel like a number'. Gotta love putting the care back in healthcare! read more

The people they hire are unprofessional and just leave you without answers and when you try to ask a question they don't let you finish what your asking and just try to pass you on to security!! what does security have to do with my discharge paperwork??? nothing. but that's who they told me to go see before I could even state what I was looking for. I live a few houses away and will NEVER use their services again. I cannot believe that I came to this hospital for clogged ears, had someone look in my ears and tell me it was allergies when I came to the walk in down the street and they flush my ears from wax. these nurses in the emergency room just want you in and out, they don't want to help. i'm sure he could've very obviously saw the wax in my ears, but he still sent me away and told me to take benedryl. what a waste of time and insurance money! read more

If i'm able to choose it would be any place other then Griffin. The ER is absurd. You will be waiting for hours no matter whats wrong with you. I have been to Griffin several times (unfortunately). Most of the time I am treated okay, but I have certainly experienced better hospitals. The one time I had to stay over night (4 nights), was a horrible experience. My M.D. told me to walk as much as possible and I could go home earlier. The staff on the floor refused to let me walk anywhere but up and down the hallway. Total lack of communication and I raised hell but it did no good. Next time, if I have a choice, I will go to St. Vincents in Bridgeport. A much better hospital. read more

I scheduled a visit with Doctor Guarnaccia last week and my wife and I are very happy to have found such a great doctor as Doctor Guarnaccia in order for me to have someone here in the states, after moving from Italy, that follows me up with my unfortunate, but no the worst among all the bad things, conditions. We really liked him and we got out the office satisfied and with all the questions answered. I feel very comfortable and safe in being in his hands. He is a high qualified health care professional and he is well prepared!!! His staff too is great and efficient. Mrs Cheryl is very quick in fixing problems. They are very dedicated in what they do. I was over there for more earache, the doctor was so distracted that she was checking my right ear instead of my ear, so she could not diagnose my problem and refered me to another doctor and all this took 15 minutes, she was in rush for lunch or date I think . then they charged me 250 for that. I tryed to talk with somebody about it and first ,they refuse to refer me to manager and when finally I could reach her. she start defending her doctor and start lying about the fee and told we did not charge you and you are wrong. so I called my insurance and found out they are lying so I called them back and send them the papers that my insurance had gave me. I just read previous reviews and wonder if some of these people went to the same hospital I was taken to last July! I don't remember very much of my first three days there as I was unconscious. When I was well enough, I was transferred to a semi-private room in a ward. The staff (doctors, nurses, aids, housekeeping, etc.) were fantastic. I needed, and received, three antibiotic IV's a day and got them. I required three respiratory procedures daily and the therapist was there prepared and on time. Can't say anything bad about the nurses. But the doctor I had in the emergency room....awful. Came here a few months ago, severe pain. Was told it was an infection(cellulitis). (Turned our to be a kidney stone). Now I have signs that mimic a herniated disk or sciatica, hurts too bad to sit or lay down. Got the SAME DOCTOR! And guess what....he told me I had CELLULITIS! anything to get me out of there. Will be seeking a second opinion. So mad. read more

A very nice clean hospital. When walking in the sound of a piano plays on its own, or by a hired musician. The hospital itself has beautiful floors that incorporate peacefulness and serenity. Since it's a "plane tree" hospital they do many homeopathic remedies that are great. The food is delicious. Better than most hospitals and is always hot. I like the pizza the most, and it's reasonably priced as well. The staff is very friendly and always there to help when you need it. All the floors have carpet so it's quiet outside of the rooms. My partner and I were in a car accident last night. We were taken to Griffen Hospital in Derby, CT. The nurse that we both had, Sue was so incredibly nice. I have seen many nurses through the years and she is up there. Like in the top 3 of best nurses I've ever had. She was smiley, patient, kind, and she really cared about her job. The doctor was wonderful also. Dr. Hipona. He smelt like vanilla and he was extremely kind and gentle. The service was super quick there also. I have never written a review for a hospital before and it wasn't a great reason why we were there, but we are ok now. Just sore. If you are up in that area and have to go to the hospital. I would recommend Griffen for their wonderful nurses and doctors. read more

I was terrified my daughter would die in front of my eyes and the eyes of people that I entrusted with her life. My daughter went into the emergency room having a seizure and from the moment we entered we felt nothing but disrespect, judgement, lack of care, lack of help. My daughter was sitting in the middle of the emergency room having a seizure and was receiving no help. The receptionist and first nurses to see her believed she was acting. I had to perform CPR on my own daughter in front of a hand full of nurses. When they finally did take her into the room they handled her as though she was nothing and kept telling her "to relax and stop being dramatic". My daughter could not breathe and reaching at her throat to show her struggle and everyone just stared at her. I had to beg for help. There is much more to the terror that I felt that day but I will just say DO NOT TRUST YOUR LIFE IN THE HANDS OF THESE TERRIBLE PEOPLE. read more

Griffin Hospital has the absolute nerve to charge what they do, which is nothing BTW. My doctor sent me there because he wanted to make sure I didn't have a blood clot in my legs, I am suffering from severe leg cramps for 2 years and no one seems to know why. I was in the ER for not even an hours, $6000.00 plus dollars later. They settled with my ins co (United Health Care) for 2000.00 which I am totally responsible for because of deductable. Then weeks later I continue to get bills from other agency, one bill for 250.00 to read my results, well can someone tell me who they read them too because it wasn't me and it wasn't my doctor. They are all crooks. When I called to discuss the bills, girl said to bad you owe it. Then I get another bill for the on call doctor, can someone tell me why I am paying extra when griffin already charged me for the ER visit. I have heard nothing but horrible things about them when it comes to billing and charges. Other then an ultra sound and xrays, Know one can explain why I was charged $6,000.00. Good luck with billing, it took me 3 months to get a bill resolved that was very close to going to collections. Of course it was an issue on their end and a company they referred to me called MDSave. Now I find out that my last few doctor visits are not covered by MDSave and I have to pay a co-pay. When I spoke with MDSave to purchase the care voucher they said the visits are covered but now they are not. I think the care was great at the hospital (Doctors & Nurses) but the business side was the worst. I am giving them 3 stars because they have an awesome staff of doctors and nurses however the billing side and companies they work with need help communicating with clients and each other. read more

it saddens me that this hospital basically robbed me of my innocence. I've dealt with anxiety for the majority of my life. One day an anxiety attack turned itself into a full blown nervous breakdown. I knew I needed help so I admitted myself to the local ER (not griffin). I went through mental hell in there, it was a very difficult experience to get over. When I was finally discharged, I was referred to an aftercare facility. This facility had called 911 on me. By choosing to do this, they've basically forced me go through the same exact hell of experiences that I was initially going there to recover from. Instead of helping me get back on my own two feet, they basically left me out to die. This is where Griffin comes in. Griffin Hospital had the opportunity to help me by making the call to the hospital which I was recently discharged from. This would give them actual facts on my current recovering anxiety-induced mental status. However instead of doing this, they've decided to take matters into their own hands and lock me up in their psych unit. They didn't care to take the time to listen to my history with anxiety. Instead of all that, the security team was grabbing, tossing me around without saying a word, forcing me onto a bed, then shooting me with anti depressants which messed with totally messed up my mindset in addition to the suicidal thoughts. I thought they'd eventually kill me in there. I hope none of you reading this have ever felt true hopelessness, this was it for me. Griffin Hospital has left me with a ton of unnecessary mental pain and PTSD symptoms. I hope that the owner of this "business" isn't able to cherry pick the reviews that stay and which get tossed away like those on Google. read more

Each and every staff person that I have had dealings with is extraordinary. What a pleasure it is to know my loved one is being cared for by these great professionals. I am not the type to write a review, but I had to because I had such a great experience at this hospital. I am new to the area and was having terrible pain on my side causing me to have emergency surgery. Yes, the emergency room was crowded, so it did take a bit to get in like all hospitals, plus it was the day after New Years so that definitely did not help, but all the nurses were so kind, caring, and friendly and got me the help I needed. I was able to receive pain meds and get tests quickly. Once they deemed it was necessary to receive surgery, they prepped me right away and the surgeon was there within 30 minutes. Every person I met with, the nurses, surgeon, anesthesiologist, etc were so compassionate and really made me feel comfortable. Surgery was successful and I was able to go home same day. Not to mention I had to receive surgery at 1am and everyone was ready to rock and roll. Highly recommend this hospital. read more

Worst experience ever! Waited 8 hours to be seen. When we finally got called, our nurse made the experience worst. She was rude, non communicative, and negligent. She inserted an IV into my mother poorly, leaving a bruise and swelling on her hand afterwards, minimized her efforts to explain what was going on, and at the time for discharge, gave my mother the wrong discharge forms which consisted of another patients diagnosis and prescription. First visit in a very long time to Griffin ER. Reception person was somewhat condescending and rude. Insurance intake person was very kind and professional. The wait was unbelievable. I understand that to an extent but the nurse/desk person's complete unwillingness to even estimate a very approximate additional wait time after we had been there over 2 hours with nothing happening was a bit bizarre. Some patients who had been waiting a very long time became agitated, loud and were using profanity. No one said or did anything. Personally I would not behave that way but I did kind of understand their frustration. After a quick waste of time visit with a PA in a tiny room off the ER we went back to waiting and were finally brought in to the medical side of the ER. People on stretchers lined up against the corridor walls. The nursing staff was EXCELLENT. I understand COVID greatly impacted hospitals, but in Griffin's case perhaps a little more time, energy and money spent on the layout/running of the ER would be beneficial. Instead of the player piano and hotel lobby-like entrance to the main hospital, give the ER a desperately needed revamp. read more

Go to Griffin Hospital only if you want to end up dead! I have Crohn's Disease and have had the shingles before. I ended up in agony throughout the day and went to seek care there. I was treated like a drug seeker, I don't even like to take tylenol. Seen by a PA who offered someone with an inflammatory bowel disease ibuprofen as if I couldn't have taken that at home. We were there almost 6 hours and nothing, hardly even a test. A flu test when I didn't even have symptoms of the flu. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

It's a hospital so I'm sure no one is really going to search Yelp for their ratings but I'm so frustrated that I figured I'd post this online anyway. Disclaimer: This is only for their ER services. I have no experience with any other services at Griffin. I've been to the ER here 3 times. First time I was struck in the face by an errant throw of a softball. I got checked out, was told there wasn't any major damage, nothing broken. Next day I received a phone call saying that I had a broken nose and broken cheek bone. Good job. Second time I had cut myself on the job and had to receive stitches. Specifically told billing that I was at work and it should be filed under workman's comp. I went back to have the stitches removed and yet again made sure to mention that I had injured myself at work and should be filed under workman's comp. The woman said, good thing you said something because whoever put it in for the first visit did not put it under workman's comp. Fast forward 4 months and I am still trying to get the situation corrected due to someone putting in wrong information. Luckily neither of these situations were life threatening, but based on my experience in the ER I would say go somewhere else. As it is, it seems even if you get the correct treatment there's a chance you'll be fighting with your insurance or claims company because of billing mistakes. read more

Griffin hospital is the worse... my mom has been suffering from cancer for about a year now the very first months of finding out she needed a blood transfusion she was in a lot of pain,discomfort and swollen. she and my family were concerned for her health. She would go in, test would be run and no answers were given to her and or our family to why she was feeling the way she was. It got to a point where after a long matter of time they found out what was wrong with her a dr that came to check up on her wasn't the one to read her her the results of her having cancer. As my family and myself went to visit my mom at the hospital a dr came in and we had lots of questions about her condition the only thing he seemed to be worried about was his beeper going off and he basically dismissed himself in the middle of us asking questions and never even returned back. As another time my mom was having breathing issues she was there for about a day and they wanted to send her home she specifically told them she wasent feeling better they still decided to let her go home and told her that there was nothing else they could've done to help her and that if she chooses to stay another day she will be on her own. I don't recommend griffin to anyone they are careless and only there to receive a paycheck. read more

I love Griffin, All my doctors that I see are all apart of the Griffin network & it makes it so easy. Also I only use Griffins blood draw lab because you are in & out & every time I have gone to quest for blood work you are there for at least an hour or more. I thankfully live near Griffin & I have 1 dr who is in Griffin. Her name is Dr. Chaission, she is a pulmonologist as well as she does my narcolepsy & she is an amazing Dr. as well as a receptionist Linda. They are both just truly amazing people. I also see Dr. Jagadeesh as my primary doctor & her & her entire staff are great. She's located in Oxford ct. read more

Went to the ER this morning. I was there from 9:10am to 1:50pm and never seen. There was a woman throwing up in the lobby section and still no one helped. This was a disgrace for a hospital to leave so many in the ER and not getting help.
