For a few months this year the whole area was closed for erosion repair. But now it's partially opened. There is a narrow access to part of a beach, sandwiched between tribal land with a defunct marina on one side and a privately owned beach on the other. The beach is accessible only to those who can scramble down a several-foot drop from the abruptly broken-off road. To the commenter looking for lots of driftwood, drive north to the beach associated with Mora Campground in Olympic National Park. Go to the town of Forks, then drive west 30 minutes to the park, then a few more minutes to Rialto Beach. It has a parking lot, and the beach is right there. Last time I was there huge driftwood had taken over the beach, requiring visitors to clamber over logs. Lots of fun if you're able.

There was also almost no litter/garbage in the area - unlike other places we visited in Ocean Shores! On a Sunday morning it was very quiet. Another time, we might come here with a picnic to spend the day.

It was nearly impossible to go outside of our RV without being constantly attacked and bitten. Our legs were covered with bites that made our 3 nights stay very uncomfortable. We therefore opted to stay on the beach for the majority of the day then retreat much later to eat and sleep in our RV. After speaking with other campers, it became obvious that 178 was the worst for insect bites. Most sites didn't have as a severe problems as we did. Should we ever visit again, we will avoid 178 at all cost... Otherwise, Ocean Shores is a very sleepy community. Our best memories were hunting down 3 Garage Sales and meeting some great residents. Restaurant prices are very high as we weren't' going to pay $37 for a pizza or $34 for meager Fish & Chips (takeout)! The driving beach adjacent to the town was very crowded but once you go north of the Casino, it became more spread out and enjoyable. My advice? Go north my son, go north, and try and avoid the town entirely (unless you have kids)!

The gods and goddesses of nature and coincidence placed this as the first spot with a lavatory upon our path. Windy as hell with the storm, but soooo awesome. Boat launches, proper lavatories, plenty of space, dramatic views, picnic areas, etc. Great spot indeed.

The parking lot isn't far from the beach, but you walk down a sandy path which my 81 year old mom managed, but I'm worried about the walk back. It's sunny but cold. Parking is super accessible. The great thing is that you can drive your car straight onto the beach or you can park by the gift shop and walk over. Overall the beach is kind of lackluster and the water is pretty dirty.

We had to just leave. The stalls looked like they hadn't been cleaned in 24 hours at least, and this was on a holiday weekend which really merited more attention to the bathroom sanitation. Look after your beach bathrooms Ocean Shores!

For whatever reason we had a lot of trouble getting into any type of restaurant. We visited seabrook which is a 30 minute drive and it's worth the visit. If you choose to come know that it will be cold and windy in the middle of July. We thought it would be warmer, poor planning on our part. We don't plan on coming back . You're not missing anything by not coming here. Lots of cute deer roaming around so if you choose to, drive carefully.

If you don't want to park on the beach, there is parking available at the entrance by the public restrooms. There is also parking open at the convention center nearby.
