We stopped by to gas up before heading back to Vegas after a weekend of fishing in Beaver. I read all the reviews about the tire scams and getting approached by mechanics. We pulled in and I wanted to check out the "I Beaver" merchandise i saw in the Yelp reviews. I always find a souvenir from a new town/city I've never visited and the 'I love beaver' bandana was functional and funny at the same time. I'm sure someone will find it offensive as everything is seems to be these days. There's a beaver statue outside the entrance for a social media moment on the gram. I walked by scoping out the mechanics walking in and walking out. No action of them approaching any of the cars gassing up with us. oh well. The market is stocked with everything you would need to get back on the highway. I grabbed two energy drinks and we were on our way. We've stopped at Griffy's for gas and lunch . We went to the store to buy some snacks and drinks for our travels. The lady who served us wasn't the most kind / helpful person . We got some snacks and I've used the restroom while my husband got the snacks and drinks in the car. When I went to the car my husband had forgot to pick my peach tea from the counter. So he went back and told the lady ,she was extremely rude and unhelpful...asking him for receipt....they never provided us with the receipt and it was a matter of minutes...sure she remembered as it wasn't busy either...so she refused to give us the peach tea which we had paid. Unacceptable!!! Because I was too tired after hours of driving I've decided to continue my journey without take further action . I will never stop at that station / store. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I will NEVER stop here again. Like many other reviewers, the mechanics here also tried to scam me. They approached me; I did not seek out any advice. I just came here for gas, coffee, and a bathroom break. They claimed my tires were unevenly wearing and I really needed a tire rotation. Uhhh, really? Because I get my tires rotated regularly and I most recently had it done three weeks ago. He acted shocked and then said that the tread was still wearing out and he'd be happy to look at it for me. Uhhh, no. Tread is fine. You gotta love being a young female and having mechanics think they can walk all over you. They definitely act friendly and helpful, but they are definitely scam artists and will not be honest with you. Gas was also a little bit more expensive than the towns before and after. Coffee was weak. Cashiers were pretty friendly and snack selection was good. Regardless, I won't be back. Ever. read more

While attending a family reunion from out of state, the heater in our car stopped working and our temperature gauge was acting funny. We stopped in at the Shell service station by recommendation of a family member who said the folks Shell were good and honest people and might help us. We hadn't even asked for help yet when of the the service techs at the Shell Tire Shop checked on us and offered to phone a friend at Divine Auto to see if they could help us, they seemed full up with a car already on the hoist. This is how community works, we said yes. We drove over to Divine Auto Care (360 N Main St Beaver, UT 84713) and were met at the door as we pulled up by Adam who immediately took our car in, determined a simple thermostat issue and fixed our car at a fair price. Whatever happens DO NOT STOP AT THIS GAS STATION!! The guys here tried to scam me! They told me my two back tires were bad and that I needed new ones. I had mine serviced the day before I drove in there. I drove in there to get gas and they approached me and told me my back tires were almost flat and needed to be replaced. They pointed to a rubber piece in my tire and told me that it was the inside of the tire coming out and that my tire would blow out soon. The rubber piece they pointed to was a tire plug from a previous repair! They also told me if I bought tires from them that they would give me "Walmart prices." I left there and drove straight to Discount Tires in Provo (2 hours North of Beaver) and had them check out my tires. Discount Tires said there was NOTHING wrong with my tires!! BEWARE! I stop at this gas station often when I am driving from Salt Lake to St George/Vegas and recently left my wallet there. They held onto it for me and ended up shipping it home to me later that week when I couldn't get back down to come and get it! They had great customer service through the whole thing. If I could give them a zero I would. Like the other reviews on here I was told my tire pressure was low in an unassuming way by Mechanic One. As soon as I pull in to put some air in, I used my own tire pressure gauge. Everything was fine. Exactly what the manufacture recommended. Mechanic Two comes up and tells me my pressure is low and the tread is wearing out unevenly and that it's "dangerous." Thing is, the tires are only 6 months old. and the tread is fine. When I refuse he says something snide about me having California license plates and that I'm a long way from home. Shady mofos. Stay away from this station and the people in it. read more

While returning from Arizona to Montana, I was unlucky enough to stop at Shell South creek Station. While I was filling up a mechanic walked and told me I had a low tire and he would be glad to check it out. He put it on the lift and told me it had bulging and could blow out at any time. He said it was not safe to drive. I ended up buying 4 new tires. While I was waiting for the replacement, I sat down next to an elderly lady who had been told the same thing and was also waiting for new tires to be put on her car. I looked up Shell South Creek station on Yelp and Google and found I was not alone. It seems they have been doing this for a long time and have scammed a lot of other people. It seems they prey primarily on the out of state and elderly travelers. Their MO is to check the tires of those filling up with gas, find a defect to "check out".Find a potentially catastrophic defect that doesn't exist and then use scare tactics to sell people tires they don't need. I don't know if what they are doing is illegal, but it is predatory and immoral and reflects on the community that gives them a business license to do so. This business contaminates the character of the young men working there and reflects badly on the Beaver community. They are modern day highwaymen read more

I give this station a -10 Beware!!! Go to any other Beaver gas station. My wife and came into the station for gas as we were pulling our trailer. As we pulled into the station we noticed several mechanics staring at our trailer my wife said I don't have a good feeling about this place. While I was fueling a mechanic approached me and started examining my tires. He told me that I wouldn't even make it to Salt Lake City. My tires looked fine to me, however he started pointing out little areas that he considered to be flaws. He also told me that I that needed to have my joints lubed for $20. So, I decided to let them do it. He told me that once I was done fueling up to pull over to the side of their shop. Another mechanic came out and started looping my joints he had a sharp object and he began to show me areas of my tire in which he felt were very bad. He asked where I was going I said Salt Lake City he said you're not even going to make it a few miles. At this point, I knew it was a huge scam and I walk to my truck and asked my wife to keep an eye on the rearview mirrors to make sure that they didn't damage our tires. Just to humor the mechanic I asked him how much for a tire replacement and he told me it would be $180 per tire. When I said no thank you he insisted that they had financing. I paid him his $20 jumped in my truck and got the heck out of there. We were not even 2 miles on I 15 in which we had a blowout from the exact same tire that the mechanic was pointing out saying that "you're not gonna make it." A highway patrol pulled behind me to assist me with changing my tire he also noticed that the trade of my tire seem to be fine. After the tire change, I called the Shell station to complain and found out that the very mechanic who sabotaged my tire received a call of a blowout on I 15 in which he was responding to. I had asked for the manager of the station to contact me and I still have not heard from him. I know that this mechanic sabotaged my tire and the only thing that I can say is, please for your own good avoid this shell station! read more

WARNING: HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!! I stopped here to gas up, I noticed the tire shop and decided to get a quote for a spare trailer tire. The "friendly" salesman has me pull my rig around and park. I asked him 3 separate times for a price but he always managed to change the subject. I decided to get the spare anyway since I needed it and the going rate is about 30-70 dollars for most shops. I get the bill and it comes out to over $200 for a single tire! When I complain about the price the "friendly" salesman starts cursing and talking behind my back to the other mechanics. Tire scam...among other things While getting gas to return to Las Vegas in 2010 after camping up Beaver Canyon my husband was approached by an attendant who said out tire pressure looked low on our rv trailer. He wanted us to pull over by the garage so he could check the tire pressure. My husband said no thanks and we got out of there. Felt like a scam and when I read these reviews I can see that it was. This gas station PREYS on travelers on I-15. Do yourself a favor and patronize another gas station in Beaver. It is too bad that this business has to ruin the town of Beaver for me. read more

Tried to rip off my disabled son. Another BEWARE this station!!! I was driving from Nogales, AZ to Salt Lake City in late August of this year and stopped for gas. Also asked to have my tires rotated and was suddenly and aggressively encouraged by two men to replace my dangerously worn tires. Serious scare tactics that were over the top. One guy was very persistent in getting me into his little office, away from what the other guy was doing to my car. Within a few minutes, they had all four tires off the car and one on the machine, ready to remove the tire from the rim. I was able to extract myself from the situation without any harm to my vehicle but I was loudly berated by both men about my lack of trust in them as tire professionals and my lack of intellegent reasoning. When the scare tactics failed they resorted to insults. I'm reporting them to the State Attorny General, the Shell company and the Better Business Bureau. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. WHAT A RIPOFF. While traveling, we needed an oil change. My husband went there because they were close to our hotel and not busy (should have been our first clue). They told him we needed new tires. When it was all said and done our bill was over $900. BEWARE of this station! They are running a tire scam. I was approached, while pumping gas, by a friendly attendant who started cleaning my windows. He asked where we were headed and where we'd been. We discussed the weather. I felt a bit suspicious, but decided to ignore my feelings. When I returned from the restroom, I couldn't find my family or my van! After some searching, I discovered the van in the garage up on the lift with my kids (ages 8 and 10) inside it! The window cleaner guy explained that the front tires didn't look good. Seconds later, another attendant approached and said the back(!) two tires were showing signs of extreme wear and needed to be replaced. Another attendant walked by and agreed that the back tires needed to be replaced. They kept showing my husband and me the supposed extreme wear on the tires, wear we couldn't really see. No belts were showing through, no separation was occurring, there was just some wearing of the inside of the treads. In the meantime, they had closed the garage bay door behind the van. My husband went to call our hometown tire guy, while I kept a eye on the kids and van. Next to the closed bay door, I noticed a rifle. Don't know if it was loaded or not, but between the gun, the closed door, the closed door to the outer office, the van on the lift with the kids inside, I was starting to feel a bit freaked out! Our tire guy gave us some advice and said the tires were probably fine. We again asked the guys to show us the extreme wear and then thanked them for their help and said we'd contact our hometown guy. They lowered the van, raised the door, and we left. This felt like a well-rehearsed scam. It even felt like we were being stalked - they picked us out from the line-up of people at the pump. it was hard not to feel scared about the safety of the van and not to feel intimated by the guys who had my family up on the lift. Although they didn't break any laws, they came pretty close to committing fraud and are definitely preying on the fears of drivers. Stay away! Run do not walk away from this service station if the guy hanging out at the pumps tell you your tire pressure looks a little low. We were driving thru to Salt Lake City when the guy said your tires look a little low if you drive in there the guys will check your tire pressure. Not sure if it was the out of state plates or that we were two women but almost immediately the guy was trying to sell us new tires. I wanted to wait until Salt Lake City but I was uneasy after listening to the guy and being on the road in the middle of summer with all the blown out/shredded tires we had seen along the I-15. So I said okay. Big mistake! We were sold tires that are not recommended for our vehicle (which I only found out that gem once we got home & I did research) and charged 3x the amount the tire suggested retail price. What a rip off! Take your chances and if you have AAA head as quickly as possible away from this predatory shop. read more

RV axel/leaf spring scam. While stopping in for a routine fill-up, we were approached by a mechanic telling us that we had a loose axel on our camper. He explained how they would check and tighten it for free. Several minutes later, we were informed that the brackets connecting the leaf springs were worn and that it would be good for us to have them put new, $400 brackets on. They later attempted to sell us new, upgraded leaf springs which we refused. 1 and a half hours later and $400 less wealthy we were on our way. I also would like to point out there were two other RV's that had the same problem (what a coincidence). Do yourself a favor (especially if you have a trailer), just avoid this gas station. As I sat in the burger joint next door to this shop, reading the yelp reviews here, I'll admit it seemed like I was reading a Stephen King novel and I was in it ... "Your tires look low there sir, where you headed?" and on and on ... relentless sales approach only in my case, my tires were badly worn ... new bride in the car, icy conditions. It was a fast easy kill for this crew who sold me ironically "over inflated" tires meaning I paid at least 50 bucks more per tire; and they also charged extra for rotation and balance which I've always had included if you buy a full set. They tried hard to sell me shocks too indicating I'd be lucky to make it home without their new ones. They're slick, they have a strategy and it seems to work. My only regret is not reading the yelp reviews before I was had by them but when my truck was in the air it was too late. The up side is I got decent tires and I needed them ... but creepy is the operative word for their level of service and sales approach. Preying on your fear is effective for their business, but at least we have Yelp here to maybe even out the playing field. My gut tells me they could care less what reviews we give them here as long as there's one more dupe out there for them to pounce on with this apparently well oiled scam. read more
