We stopped at this cute little Food Court in Trinidad, CO while en route to Denver. It was the perfect little stop with many shops there. There had a Noodle Place, Mexican Restaurant, a Bar, and an Italian Restaurant. We decided on Grill 14 which was modern American Food. We ordered at the counter and they brought it out to us at one of the many seating areas. We got an Italian Salad, Sweet Potato Fries, and a Philly Cheesesteak. What a wonderful surprise. We only had the one night as we were just passing through and stayed next door at the Hilton. The atmosphere is very cute, cozy and exactly what I expected for a pub in Colorado. We had eaten earlier and just wanted to share something. Thank god, we did. When I say the Chicken Nachos were massive, massive doesn't even do it justice. Between the two of us, we only made it a 1/3 of the way through. And they were delicious, if only I could have a bottle of that green chili sauce my life would be complete. You can eat it on anything. The bartender was very friendly. This was an absolutely fantastic break in the middle of a pretty long drive. We're heading from San Antonio to Colorado Springs with our two little dogs. We've spent a lot of time in the car. Most of our meals have been in the car or outside in the wind. Club 14 was an absolute gem. Our server Lexie (and the afternoon staff) was incredibly accommodating and made all four of us feel at home. The salads and chicken noodle soup were delicious. Our dogs settled down and ate their dinners better than the last two days of meals. I'd say the prices and portions were very fair. We are leaving feeling extremely happy. My only constructive feedback would be the "smash burger" isn't a true smash burger. The patties are very thick, versus thin, double layered, smashed burger patties. First of all they are no longer at their old location that looks out at Fishers Peak. We would visit 14 at least twice a month from Raton. Why, because it had a great view of Fishers Peak, the river nearby, close to the Freeway. The location wa an older building that had in door seating, covered patio, and street level a covering where you could bring your pets to sit with you on a leash. If traveling a great place to grab a bit & have you fur babies near you instead of the vehicle. The food was good with generous portions, a full Bar, sit down service and at a reasonable price. Now that Phil Long Ford owns it (cars/trucks to restaurant business???), they closed the old location & moved it to the Market Place across from their Toyota Dealership. So now you find it in this cold building (as in not welcoming), find the order bar which has a dystopian look, employee's behind a cage to take your order. Then you get to decide where in this weird layout where you want to sit, (School Cafeteria type seating - plastic) & wait for your buzzer. If you want a drink you can at the Market Place Bar located within. Friendly, drinks okay, but not comfortable. My overall feeling was that I felt like I was at my old College bar on campus, only the food was much better. Food was smaller portions, but a higher price, fish & the combo of popcorn shrimp with a piece of fish, french fries or kettle chips. Well, chips were burnt. Fish, much smaller pieces, horrible cheap purchase (Phil Long Ford), & greasy. Same for the shrimp. Fries, where the the cheapest you could buy?? Also, under cooked & greasy. Disappointed in this place. First, the door to get in is not easy to navigate. We had a tough time getting it open, and pretty much every person after us experienced the same. The server was spread way too thin, bartending along with navigating several tables. My boyfriend's order was incorrect, and his side of mac and cheese was stone cold. It took us easily 15 minutes to try and get our servers attention, which we were unable to do. We resorted to asking the hostess to have her come over. When your daughter and you are in Trinidad, Colorado, where do you have to go? I was faced with this question today and my daughter found Club 14 Garden Grill and Pub on Yelp. They had an extensive menu and we're right off of the freeway, making it convenient. My daughter ordered the chicken fiesta wrap. She said it was good and filling. She couldn't even finish the tasty french fries that came with it. I had the garden veggie wrap, which also was good. My side was the coleslaw, which actually was very good. Our dog Ghost had his food and water, and was bummed, because flies were buzzing all around us. That was the only bummer of this place. Of course, that seem to happen because we were on the patio because we had our dog with us. So club 14 used to be a train depot, it was converted to a restaurant/grill 4 years ago. It's clean, nice and comfortable. It's off the beaten path, but totally worth it. The service was quick and friendly. The drinks were delicious. The food was amazing, but portions and def a place you will have leftovers at. Our table got two chili dogs, a burger and nachos. The flavors of all were amazing, the quality of the dogs was unmatched, not your normal Oscar Mayer. The size was big, and you have the option to upgrade to a foot long. The burger was good, but extras like cheese and caramelixed onions are $1.50 each . All in all it's a must go to, but expect to pay a pretty penny. Each plate is at least $15 + add ons. Me and my sister stopped here for lunch back in June on our way back from Denver. We sat on the patio which had a terrific view of Fishers Peak which is now a state park near Trinidad Colorado. The food was really good. I ordered the Fiesta chicken wrap which consists of grilled chicken, spring mix, tomato, avocado, onion which I left off because I'm not a fan of onions, and house-made sriracha mayo on a tortilla wrap. It came with homemade chips which were delicious! Our server was very attentive and friendly. As always Yelp brought me to a new place to eat. We were on a road trip and ready for some lunch. The Purple Toad has good reviews and a great location next to the interstate. The location is awesome. Pulling into the parking lot you see a very nice restaurant and great patio with permanent tent covering. The staff was very friendly and management came out to check on us several times. My friend ordered a chicken wrap and he liked it. He said it was just a bit spicy for him but tasty nonetheless. I had the mushroom Swiss burger and we both had fried. A little bummed when it was a slow day and they had already run out of tater tots. My burger was a big patty and lots of crab vegetables on potato bread bun. It was cooked nicely but could have used just a little more taste in it. We were starving and decided to stop at Club 14 because we had our pup and they advertised puppy friendly patio. We were greeted so warmly by the staff and the locals. I ate my burger in and got husband's dinner to go. Mine was ordered very rare, and came out cooked perfectly. This is very uncommon. The Mac and cheese was very good, and I took most of it back to our hotel. My husband's burger was ordered medium rare and was served that way. The fries were great, and all the condiments and flatware were included. I got the carrot cake to go. Excellent. There is nothing wrong with this place. We will come back here next year. read more

Love that this place is right on the river. It isn't too far from downtown Trinidad and the building isn't too big. The restaurant has changed hands several times and seems to still be figuring itself out. When we arrived the staff was super friendly but overwhelmed by the afternoon lunch rush. We would love to head back once they get settled in. The food was good and my friends enjoyed the mule selection. I liked that the iced tea was freshly brewed! Definitely worth trying out. read more

We went here for lunch during a brief visit to Trinidad and really enjoyed our meal! We had the veggie wrap, chicken tenders and burger with fries. Everything was delicious! I especially enjoyed the wrap and the chicken was crispy and seemed homemade although we couldn't tell for sure. The only issue we had there was that they were out of lemon bars. The atmosphere is clean, spacious and modern including the bathrooms. The views are gorgeous and we ate lunch outside on a very nice patio. We didn't have a great experience here. We came because they have a large patio and we wanted to sit outside, so that was a good thing. When we arrived, it took us at least five minutes to even be acknowledged at the hostess stand. I don't mind waiting if someone at least says that they'll be with us in a minute. Once we were seated, it took us another long time to be waited on. Our waitress kept pulling down her mask to talk to us which was not cool in the Covid environment. My friend asked if she could substitute a salad for fries with her meal and the waitress said yes, but then when we got the bill she was charged two dollars. On a short road trip from northern NM to Trinidad, CO, to see what our friends call "the nicest Wallmart ever," it got to be dinner time, and we discovered that though there are many places to get food in Trinidad, there are few to eat. (We're in COVID-19 stage 2 as I write this.) After many calls, we found The Purple Toad open and serving, and the four of us went for dinner. In short, the food was excellent. Our friends ordered fish and chips, and the servings were beyond generous. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the fries were thin, crisp, and wonderful. My Bride ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwich, but on a bed of lettuce, no bun. It came out perfectly cooked, with an abundance of fries. In fact, she took half of it home! I had the crispy chicken wrap, and the flavor was full, a delightful crunch of perfectly breaded chicken, fresh lettuce and tomato and understated cheese in each bite, with just a light hint of dressing. Our server, Sarah, was effervescent and attentive, and did a magnificent job handling the teasing that our friends gave her. She was wonderfully personable and yet professional.
