It appeared to me that there was only one person working the front register (where you order) and the same woman prepared the lunches and served. Amazing, how she was able to keep up with the constant flow, but she did. My turkey, avocado and pesto sandwich, served on a warm ciabatta roll was a perfect lunch. The fresh green salad was exceptional as well. The Colorado St Chicken Salad was a foodgasm. Chicken salad with nuts and fruit on a croissant with a salad really nailed my need. Well, it could get a 4-star if they took credit card.... The food is not bad actually. Definitely worthwhile if you drive-by Trinidad during lunch time. Another thing that bothered me a little bit is that the owner lady asked the cashier to charge me $1.65 for tap water because they use biodegradable disposable cup. I am all for supporting the environment. In fact, I also choose to buy biodegradable disposable stuffs when I have to buy disposable stuffs, and I know they are a bit pricey. BUT, the ironic thing is....they use regular disposable straws which is just as bad if not worse. It's a bit hypocritical, I think. read more

Having made many a trip through Trinidad, I finally stopped into town for some food (instead of typical gas-n-go approach). The Café is an excellent option for a "real meal" when you're driving through town. Order at the counter for a handful of fresh salads, made-to-order sandwiches and paninis, as well as a full espresso menu and chilled beverages. Food is out quickly, they can package to-go, or grab a table and enjoy your food in-house. Definitely worth a stop if you're in town, or like me, just driving through! read more

The food was good nothing special but the lady working there was a little hotheaded and snappy to us and her coworker.

We did not have a good experience at this restaurant and below are the reasons why: 1. The cashier was not welcoming and took our order while also serving others! Took forever. 2. They were out of many things on their menu. 3. The owner or manager approached us outside while sitting down in one of their tables and was not wearing a mask. Even after I told her that we were socially distancing, she kept trying to get close to us as she asked us to move closer to the street. One of our chairs was in the walking path of the sidewalk and yet she still wanted us to move the umbrella, table and chairs closer. Why not just wait until we are done eating to move it? Why assume we are okay with you getting close to us and attempt to move the umbrella on your own while the table is being occupied and without a mask? Anyway, put on a mask. Be polite to your customers. Food was ok. We would have gotten up to leave if we didn't have a hungry toddler with us waiting to get fed. read more

I came to The Cafe on a whim. Let me tell you I was overwhelmed with how good this joint is. Me and my partner each got #2 The Baca house and #3 The Mediterranean open faced sandwich. Both meals came with side salads and they were delicious. Both sandwiches were very good, especially the bread which tasted as if it was baked recently. After the sandwiches we had a blueberry muffin and lattes, both delectable and I found myself savoring every last bit. Will def come back again. Came here on our way from Texas and was looking for an easy, cheaper place to eat lunch. On the pictures it shows the sandwiches priced at 8-9 dollars each which we thought was great. We showed up and the menus didn't have prices so we went ahead and ordered. Two sandwiches later we spent 30 dollars not to mention it was cash only so I got charged extra to withdraw cash. The sandwiches were just ok, fairly small so not like you could share even though they were 15 dollars each. And that wasn't even including chips and a drink, just a side salad which was pretty small and super skimpy toppings and dressing wise. Again, food was ok but wayyy over priced and small portions for the amount they were charging. read more

Takes a while to get through the line to order at the counter, and there were only two women -- both of which seems frazzled and tired -- working both the register and carrying food to the tables, but it didn't take long for the food to arrive once we sat down. Wow. Don't let the small setup and cash only policy turn you away. What they manage to produce shouldn't be missed when you want to have lunch in Trinidad. The sandwiches are well crafted and fresh. The recipes are creative with wonderful flavors. Just simple bag-chips here, but their coffee drinks were good, and the side salad is full restaurant quality. I almost took off a star for the high price of food, but I remember the cumin and rhubarb pairing on my Ave Maria sandwich. How wonderfully delicious. This was a great spot to stop for lunch on a Sunday as we passed through Trinidad, CO. The staff were friendly and helpful and the sandwiches were made and brought to our table quickly. The food tasted good and was reasonably priced. The Café serves their sandwiches with a spring type mix of salad greens on the side. There were shredded carrots and shredded Parmesan as well as a balsamic dressing. Chips are available also for an extra charge. They offer coffee, iced tea and water as well as various sodas in bottles and cans. Dad and I stopped in for a quick lunch on a road trip from Phoenix to Denver. This is a friendly small town cafe with some unique and tasty sandwich options. The decor is rustic and and relaxed as it is a mildly polished old building. The ladies at the counter were helpful and friendly. Horrible customer service today. Nowhere online or on menu does it state you cannot get an egg wrap. When questioning staff, they said they aren't allowed and it is written on the big menu(covered by decorations) After ordering something else, I witness one of the employees go right from taking cash and answering phones to grabbing a croissant to make a San which without washing her hands! Trip hazard at from door with extension cord across threshold. Dangerous food handling and physical space issues. Beware. When asked for to go silverware, employee stated "it's in the box". Box only big enough for a sandwich, no extra room. I asked for managers name to reach out and all 3 working stated, "we can't give out the number or the name".
