Grill'd certainly know their burgers. Every single one of their burgers are what I would describe as a simple combination of flavours that work in synergy to create an explosion of taste sensation....did I go too far? Well it is all true, unlike, say for example the 'healthy' part of the Grill'd business name. These burgers are not healthy. They are super tasty though. And just because they offer gluten free options does not make any of their food 'healthy'. But you really do have to give it to these guys. They know how to make tasty food and spin a good marketing line. The one that gets me every time, with this particular Grill'd in Melbourne Central, is the 'buy a burger and get a $10 movie ticket to Hoyts next door'. Why wouldn't I get a burger if I was going to see a movie anyway and I was going to pay twice the price for said movie without my delicious healthy burger. Did I just say healthy? If Amy Winehouse had not been born so prodigiously talented and had instead hungered to become a burger entrepreneur, she surely would have opened Grill'd; a simultaneously retro, and really very modern burger bar serving a frankly scrumptious range of - predictably - grilled burgers and sides. I'd tried Grill'd cursorily before when in Sydney for work but I'd never really BEEN to Grill'd. That was until I found myself simultaneously gluttonous and ravenous at Melbourne Central station. So very ravenous that only a giant hulking burger would do. From the choice of buns to the quality of meat; the awesome fries to the freakishly moreish herb mayo; Grill'd is one classy burger chain. Staff invariably look as if they've just wandered out of a Rockabilly meet and you can only imagine that if Grill'd ran a McDonaldsesque scholarship scheme it would proffer awards for services to sailor tattoos and do whatever it could to incentivise the donning of some very saucy suspenders. REALLY do not understand the love for Grill'd here. 4.5 stars?! That's ridiculous. Grill'd, like so many burger places in town, offers burgers that have an endless array of fancy "gourmet" toppings and options and configurations, but that are all let down by simply ordinary patties. I find the patties to be bland, not juicy enough, too low in fat (the likely culprit), and unworthy of the many options you can add to them. Good burgers start with a great patty, and Grill'd is way off the mark there for me. read more

Had the Moussaka burger with chips (fries :P). The burger itself was fantastic. An excellent piece of meat loaded with veggies all over it. Honestly I just held it in one hand the whole time - I never even put it down. The chips were even better. I got...I think it was the sweet chili sauce or something? It was pinkish and creamy, if that helps...but Good LORD the chips were good. They were heavily seasoned and had big salt crystals on 'em. On the serious, I will go back there solely on the virtue of the chips. Only minor complaint might be that the drink selection felt a bit thin, but maybe that's the fountain-drink American in me talking. But that's not enough to penalize the burger and chips. I absolutely LOVE grill'd burgers! There are just times when nothing else but a 'simply grill'd' will do, i will literally drive 20mins just to get a burger. The burgers here are fantastic considering it's kind of like a fast food/take away franchise (although it is not actually 'fast' and their dining area is actually very nice). The beef patty they use is thick and tender- bitting into it, you can tell that its made from good quality meat rather than offcuts. For me, it's their aioli mayo that tops it off, without it the burger is incomplete. If you've never been to grill'd before i highly suggest it, start off with their basic 'Simply Grill'd', and be sure to order the chips! Oh the chips!! I usually go to the Grill'd in QV or on Degraves street but with Uni right on Swanston, this location is ideal. Grill'd is a the perfect place to grab a quick bite mid-day in between courses. Yup, I'm that girl going to Grill'd alone chowing down on a huge burger. I reckon, I could get through it in T-5 minutes as well. Maybe Grill'd should have a fastest eater competition but that's not something I've really seen outside of America.. Anyway, a mate of mine's room mate works here and gave us 2 for 1 cards a few months back. I swear, I ate grill'd twice a week for three weeks straight. I've never ordered directly off the menu but I'm a big fan of making my own and taking my time once I get to the register. I'm known for a bit of banter and am probably the one bothering the customers behind me on the cue taking too much time but it is what it is. I'll usually get a lean burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, ketchup, beat root, pickles, and of course in true aussie style- an egg right on top. The chips are a classic to many folks but i'm not the biggest fan. I'm not sure if I just don't like the texture or if I never need them because the burger itself is more than enough for one. If you're with a mate, definitely split them! Oh, and if you're gonna go for them, definitely go for the seasoned ones, they've got a huge kick of flavor to 'em. The best Grill'd restaurant out of all the locations I've been to. You can customize your Burger, and there are plenty of places to sit. The hot chips are seasoned with Rosemary, not just salt. Sooo tasty. read more

I love Grill'd - a Mighty Melbourne minus the beetroot + fries and their herb-mayo (although I always unintentionally ask for a garlic & aioli mayo!) is the perfect culinary combo for me when I eat there.. It's conveniently located in Melbourne Central so if you want to get dinner before seeing a movie at Hoyts or grab a bite before drinks, this place will suit. Besides Nandos, Grill'd has to be my second preferred fast food restaurant. Naturally the wait is longer than Hungry Jacks and Maccas but that's to be expected as the burgers are cooked fresh so it is definitely a healthier option than the above 2. I like the interior layout with the mix of table-chairs and table-couch and the music in the background is pretty cool as well so, if you haven't tried Grill'd yet, please do so tomorrow!! read more

Grill'd Burger is tucked away in one of Melbourne's many arcades. It is in close proximity to the busy Flinders and Spencer Street Stations so as you would expect it is a very busy place. Although very small there is both inside and outside seating. The outside seating is amazingly good as the individual above table heaters provide warmth for diners making it popular with diners of all ages. This venue is licensed - another bonus. Menu variety is interesting and very tempting with a range of burgers and chips including sweet potato, zucchini as well as potato and all served with a selection of dippers. Our choice of veggie burger and beef burger were excellent and came with a choice of bun and salad mix. The children's mini burgers came in individual boxes either water and chips. They simply devoured them with delight. Children are well catered for with interesting colouring in sheets and pencils to keep young minds occupied. read more

This was the perfect stop as we walked our way thru the alleys crowded with little restaurants. Hubby and I split a Crispy Bacon Burger and the zucchini chips (which were really good!) I like that it is relatively boy-bad-for you fast food. Sat outside in a nice little alley with lights strung overhead, faced out to DeGraves for some active people-watching. read more

Great food!! I got the veggie vitality burger and it was delicious. My mom got the Garden veggie burger, which was good but tasted like a morning star patty. Not only are the burgers fresh and delicious but they help out the community. I love that you receive a bottle cap token and choose between three organisations to help out and they change every so often. It gets super busy but it's easy to opt for instead of the popcorn, ice cream and cola! They even have cheap deals for movies and burgers. I tried the summer sunset, lean beef, bacon, pineapple and other good green stuff. It was pretty good and along with the fries! Yum! read more

We were looking for a greasy spoon type burger and came across grill'd. The burger was a decent size and quite tasty - we had the Melbourne burger. Loaded with lots of yummy goodness. The chips were topped with herbs and salt - I'm usually one to ask for extra salt, but I had to shake the salt of these, heaps of salt. I come here quite often, it's my destination of choice during my work lunch break. My favourite burger is the "Crispy Bacon and Cheese" without tomato or the relish. Without a doubt the best burger I've ever eaten, every time. My favourite is when it's not busy, and the cooks have time to really make the burger perfect. Grill'd to perfection, mmm. So many burger options: beef, chicken, lamb, steak, veggie - oh my! You can even choose to go bunless or gluten free. The menu also lets you know what to avoid if you're gluten free or vegan. While I am neither, I absolutely appreciate them for doing that as I know a few people who are either. During my visit, I tried the Bombay Bliss (chickpea patty with roasted peppers, tzatziki, salad & relish). It was so yummy! The patty was thick and stayed in one piece, surprisingly! The burger itself was so big I could hardly finish it soI ate half with the bun and the rest without. I was stuffed. The chips (fries) were not bad, but I wasn't wowed by it. We looove Grill'd especially with the movie ticket bonus. Last night we tried the Low Carb Super Bun. The inside was still amazing as ever but the bun looked really unimpressive and just wasn't practical. It went soggy and fell apart while we were trying to eat it. Not anyway close to the hype. The food was bland, especially the chicken and brie burger. The chicken had no flavour, the only way to know there was chicken in the burger was by looking. The brie was average quality. The fries we not well cooked, the golden arches make better friea. I suggest giving this chain a miss and finding somewhere else. read more

I have vegan friends visiting from the states. We wanted something easy and tasty while touring Melbourne. At Grilld wr got two veggie burgers and a chips tasting plate along with some chicken sliders and a chilli addict beef burger.
