May I suggest: Grimaldi's has been such a favorite of ours for many years, possibly more than a decade now when I come to think of it. Although some of their seasonal cheesecake has changed, some do make a return and I get to enjoy them again! Their cheesecakes are rich, thick, creamy, and probably the closest thing you'll get to an authentic New York style cheesecake without a trip to The BIg Apple itself. Some of my personal notable faves include Caramel Coconut Chocolate (not here this year. Hint hint Grimaldi's--bring it back!!) Strawberry (always a pleaser and always comes during the summer without fail!) and Pumpkin (perfect for your Thanksgiving plate). They make pretty good salads too to keep things healthy and balanced. My fave is the Arugula Lemon with shaved parm and a lemon vinaigrette dressing that offsets the bitterness of the arugula. But of course... Let's not forget the pizza!!!! If you're a fan of coal oven New York style pizza, this is the place to be! I love their white pizza, and I've been alternating between the regular white with garlic, and their four cheese! You can customize your pizza to suit your taste anyway you like. I always get the regular white with added ricotta. Perfection! Pleasantly surprised with Grimaldis. We wanted somewhere relatively inexpensive for a large party and were so happy with how hot and fresh our pizzas came out. Their seasonal strawberry salad was also delicious as was the Oreo cheesecake for dessert. Our server was fantastic and even the manager came over to make sure we were having a good time and helped ensure our experience was optimal. Ordered carry out of a couple of gluten free pizzas for $$$55, not good at all and way over priced. Crust was so soft and under cooked. Toppings were so thin and un impressive. Not great flavor. Best to not offer gluten free then to serve this. The employee was very nice and the decor was really nice. Maybe regular pizza would be good but not the gluten free. Overall Grimaldis was pretty good! It's attached to the Westshore mall, over by where Dick's used to be. A bit tricky to find, Apple Maps didn't take me to the right area so just be aware! Their menu is a bit limited, they just focus on pizza and salads, with some appetizer as well. They do not have any pastas unfortunately! But the pizza was good! We got pepperoni and hot honey, super yummy. I would recommend that one. Also we have the Caesar salad which was very good! We split 1 medium pizza and the large salad. It was enough. Visited for pizza before a kids movie, party of 5. The kids hated the pizza. Adults thought it was okay. Our waiter changed mid-service and we got a server who we noticed giving us awkward stares. She wasn't polite, throughout, she dropped items off without speaking and finally accused us of being thieves. She left the check as we were getting multiple kids ready to pack up and leave. We saw the total, paid and tipped amongst us in cash. As we're walking out, literally at the door, the server runs out accusing us of skipping out on our tab. The tab holder now has our cash and no receipt. She claims we didn't pay in full and blocked us in. This was by far the most embarrassing experience ever. For my Sunday evening meal I chose Grimaldis thanks to already being near the area on my delightful Sunday drive. Just a great pizza. Service is fast and efficient. The pizza came out hot and fresh. The sauce is sweet and not too salty. The cheese is perfectly melted and the onion is fresh. The crust is absolute perfection, crispy with no flop and a little charcoal. And finally the pepperoni is thick cut! Iced tea is good, and tastes freshly brewed. It seems they have added both a gluten free and also additional cauliflower crusts to their menu. Grimaldi's at WestShore Plaza is my favorite spot these days to grab dinner before heading to the AMC theater in the mall for a movie. I love to sit at the bar, chat with the always-friendly staff, and enjoy some red wine (try the Nero D'Avola they have on the menu usually) and some great pizza. On my most recent visit, I was by myself, so I had just one glass of Nero (as opposed to ordering a bottle) and the current seasonal pizza, the Italian Hero, which I sincerely hope they add to the menu permanently, because it is good! Try it as a pesto pizza -- that basil flavor goes wonderfully with the ham, salami, red onion and Roma tomatoes on top. I ordered it as a 12" pie and had half of it to take home and enjoy the next day--can't go wrong with that! I plan to keep enjoying this Grimaldi's location for as long as I can. It was my first visit to Grimaldi's, a suggestion as a meeting place while we were up in Tampa. The restaurant wasn't too busy or too noisy, good for excellent service and conversation. I liked the place as soon as we walked in, NYC black & white photos and other NY memorabilia setting the mood for some good NY style pizza. Looking at the menu it appeared they really focus on pizza and are not distracted by offering a larger variety of food. Good with me, I wanted pizza. And they delivered with two pizzas ready in about 15 minutes, thin firm crust with a bit of charring. But first, a salad. Our friendly helpful server explained their small salad was enough for two, their large enough for four. She wasn't kidding, I got their small Ceasar salad and it was a good start for three of us. Light on dressing, fresh greens. For the pizzas, we got a large Margherita and a smaller Barbecue Chicken Pizza. I'll mention the chicken one first, not as good as I expected. Between the firmness of the crust and the hardness of the chicken, I was working at eating slices. It also could have used more BBQ sauce. The Margherita, that was a very good pizza. The two stars are only for the food which was great. I see the service is still terrible. If you don't have enough servers, don't seat people. Our server was focused on one big table, who admittedly were needy and annoying, but we got NO service at all. No checking in, asking how our food is and not asking for refills. We didn't even get looked at when he would walk by. Only at the end did he ask if we wanted refills but didn't even ask if we wanted dessert or anything else. Sad because the pizza is delicious. I went with the slice, added pepperoni for $.75, Caesar salad and sweet tea. Service was fast and my server was pleasant enough. She did check on me often, but forgot to give me a napkin set up, though she did bring me a fork when she brought me my salad. Had to grab a napkin from a nearby table. Pizza was thin...ultra thin crust and oven baked the end crust was hard. The best thing about my lunch was the salad and the tea. This is one of my top favorite pizza restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. (My top is Ledo's in Carrollwood Village). This is NY style pizza right out of the brick oven. Many different varieties to choose from. Love the crisp crust! Red sauce is excellent with just the right level of sweetness. Tiny bit skimpy on the topping (the picture shows a one-topping pizza). Too much crust on many pieces, especially if you don't like crust (I do, but would still like less crust than what's pictured). The inside part of the restaurant is laid out in four distinct areas. The bar area and three "wings" surrounding the brick oven in the center. You can easily see the oven from the walkway that runs down the middle of the four sections. They also have a fifth section out-of-doors. The restaurant can get a bit loud, especially if you are seated near a big table of people. This is a common place for birthday parties because you get a free pie on that day if you have signed up for their free membership. Service is good and pleasant on every trip to the restaurant. They hire good quality people here. Reasons for not being 5-star: 1) The ridiculous choice by management / owners to charge double the price when you want one topping on half the pizza and a second topping on the other half. Splitting a pizza with someone becomes a battle because with every topping being around $4 the cost of pizza just went through the roof unless you like exactly the same things. Why would a pizza with sausage on one half and pepperoni on the other cost $28, but only $24 if you picked one of these? The restaurant is forcing couples & families to have to surrender their desires to be able to afford pizza. Most pizza places don't charge this way. 2) Servers who don't ask you if you have one of their free memberships so you get credit for your bill. I've forgotten to give the server my phone number on many occasions before settling the bill. This should be standard practice for them to ask sometime during the meal. There have been times we've decided to go to a different pizza place when we know we want different toppings.
