Despite being a tiny store that you'd drive by without giving a second glance: the beer selection here is top-notch! This is the only place in town that consistently gets Evil Twin beers in! The selection of beer wasn't as BIG as Wine and More, but I actually found the quality of the selection to be even better. Definitely worth a stop if you're a beer geek! read more

I stopped at this store in a rush to get some bottles of wine for a dinner I was invited to in Tampa. It was the first store I saw on the road so I quickly parked and hoped it will be a good liquor store. Immediately upon my entrance the gentleman behind the counter greeted me. I asked him about the wines and he kindly explained where to find what I was looking for. He even gave me some recommendation according to my price range. He asked me if it was my first time there so he took his time to explain the store and prices. It was a pleasant experience. First, Luekens has absolutely the best prices! The store and selection is huge. I didn't even realize until recently they have an upstairs which is a wine lovers dream. The stairs are in the back of the store just you know instead of finding out months later like I did. Secondly, the employees are always pleasant and extremely helpful. The other day I stopped in to buy a bottle of Moscato for a friend, which I absolutely do not like. Sweet drinks are not my thing. I asked an employee for help and he could not have been kinder! He literally showed me every Moscato downstairs and upstairs (this is how I found out there was an upstairs). He explained details about the different Moscatos and had confessed he was not a fan either, but clearly he has educated himself and is very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Luekens! While I am glad to see the former Lazzara Liquor store occupied once again I am going to miss the drive-thru window. What's classier than purchasing a bottle of bourbon without stepping a foot outside your car? Seriously Luekens, bring back the drive-thru! If you are seeking your bar basics Luekens Liquor stocks all of your commercial brand liquors and the prices are extremely competitive. Rare and unique liquors are stored behind the register. Luekens also carries a great selection of craft beer and they have a huge beer cooler in the back of the liquor store. While Luekens Liquor carries a great selection of beer and liquor their wine selection could use some improvements. The Prosecco selection was extremely limited and the Champagne selection wasn't much better. The majority of the wines downstairs are under $20. Upstairs, you'll find a slightly more impressive selection of wines, but the nice bottles are shelved next to bargain bottles under $10 so it was a little difficult to find the hidden gems. My husband and I did find one of our favorite red blends, "Baby Blue", from Blue Rock Vineyard in Sonoma, Alexander Valley. We haven't seen this bottle in a while so we purchased the last five bottles that were available. The guys behind the cash register couldn't have been cooler. When they saw that we were wine drinkers they made a suggestion to purchase a bottle of wine that they just brought in. (Just tried the bottle this week and it was pretty good!) They also invited my husband to check out the unique rums behind the counter when my husband mentioned he was impressed that they carried a hard to find rum. Okay so I am a bit torn writing this review...but, here goes.... My Fiance and I tend to host a lot of gatherings at our house so wine and champagne is a MUST! My in-laws tend to enjoy Andre, whether it's the Moscato, Cold Duck, Brut, Pink Moscato, Peach Moscato, etc. Lately it has been incredibly hard to find the Cold Duck and Strawberry Moscato in stores in California, so when I came across Luekens I instantly decided to buy a case. I also knew that since the wedding is coming up and my birthday is around the corner, we really needed to stock up. I think I payed roughly $20 in shipping and it took a little over a week for my delivery to come. In checking the route, Fed Ex showed that my package stayed in Tracy, Ca for literally 3-4 days before it was sent my way. When my package arrived, all bottles were in tact, THANK GOODNESS but all of them were incredibly dusty. We had a little gathering this weekend and ended up opening maybe 2-3 bottles. We noted that the foil on top was super hard to get off, I mean it was practically stuck on the tops AND one of the bottles was leaking somehow, we could not figure out from where. Ultimately I was disappointed overall. These bottles must have been sitting for a while because I have opened champagne bottles plenty of times and the foil has never been sticky or that hard to get off. Just the fact that the bottles were super dusty was another giveaway. Thanks, but no thanks Luekens! read more

I asked for a beer. Orange Blossom Beer 2. They didn't carry it. They kind of passively took my phone number and said "yeah I'll ask if I can get it for you." Sometime later I got a call letting me know my beer came in! Wow! Thanks guys! They really make you feel welcome and truly have the best prices in town. This isn't a yucky hole in the wall liquor store. They are knowledgeable, friendly and it's really a treat to shop there. PROTIP: Don't forget to walk up an almost hidden staircase. There's a beautiful selection of wines (and some great deals on nice champagnes if you need a fancy gift at a good price fast!) Keep it up! Oh, and the beer cooler is at about 33 degrees. Dropped by just to see what Luekens Liquors is all about. Have long noticed their print ads for wine, beer and liquor in their Pinellas County locations but never felt motivated enough to make the drive to any of those sites. I no longer have to. The Kennedy Boulevard location is easy to get to and has parking in the front and along the side. The inside of the store is packed to the rafters but the layout is a little quirky. There is a large main room then a little corridor with a chilled selection of cheese, a smaller back room mainly filled with wines and then a second story primarily dedicated to more wines. Upon entering, the person behind the counter quickly gave me the rundown of the layout. That was really helpful because I probably would not have thought to go upstairs where the imported wines are stocked. Since I was mostly focused on wines, I can't speak to the entire inventory but the prices seemed quite nice. There was a good mix of familiar brands and a few new-to-me bottles. Space is limited so the selection is not as comprehensive as it is in competitors' stores but what I found I liked and what I paid for my selections I liked even more. Service was friendly and helpful. The space is quite cozy so I wouldn't want to try to squeeze through when it was busy (except for the second floor area which is spacious) but this is a nice spot to shop and a great way to find new wines without breaking the bank. read more

My boyfriend bought a bottle of 375ml Jameson Whiskey from this place for our weekend vacay in Tampa and we drank the whole bottle. We are the most light weight drinkers you can imagine and neither of us got drunk. We bought the same bottle from ABC wine and Liquor a month ago and it took us a couple weeks to finish so I'm extremely confused. My boyfriend thinks it could be watered down but I'm not sure how to tell that. Waste of $18. read more

Overall Leukens has a larger selection of alcohol than most places. Unfortunately, their craft beer offerings are seriously lacking. Much of their product is kept on shelves at room temperature. The beer in the cooler is a step in the right direction. Too bad the freshest of the IPAs of any interest were 2 1/2 to 3 months from their canning date. So having been here twice, I guess I should review it. This is an offshoot and smaller version of their main store I'm told by the friendly lady who works here. While they pack a lot of selection into this small location, they are able to and do bring in stock from their larger store as well(daily if needed/requested I believe, as she stops there on her way here). An example of this was the Good Gourd that I purchased yesterday(after calling ahead) and a popular Russian stout by Cigar City, which they keep in boxes behind the register and you have to ask for. During my latest visit I noticed them assist walk in customers as well as those over the phone with various request. The liquor is in the front, and the beer is in the back. The cooler has the common stuff as well as (mostly)craft brews, while the shelves outside only have craft and unique beers. I saw a few here that I have never seen before. I don't know if you can build your own 6 pack like some places let you do. Their liquors come in a variety of brands, flavors, and sizes. Being a lightweight that doesn't drink much(especially liquor), I like how they have small bottles of each flavor of ciroc(specifically the pineapple and peach among others), which I've wanted to try. Oh yeah, there is wine too. While I don't really notice prices when I buy beer, I did catch that their Good Gourd was $1 less than total wine, as the lady gave me the price over the phone(but there is a per person limit on GG). I like the people and what I've seen in this place so far, which is why I'm considering myself a fan. read more

The proprietors of Lueken Liquors actually care about their customers & it shows in the diligent customer service they exemplify. Also, for a smaller square footage compared to the big liquor stores, Lueken Liquors has a vast array of quality wines, beer, & liquors. But what really sets these guys apart from the big guys is they will go out of their way to get any beer, liquor, or wine for you, the valued customer, if they don't have it in house. Other liquor stores either say no or are disinterested in getting what I want if not in stock in the store. People, it's worth the longer drive & your time. These people at Lueken Liquors put customer satisfaction priority #1, in addition to being Grad School educated on every bottle of beer, wine, & liquor in their cool two story house like quirky liquor store. Selection is decent but the guys at the register are jerks. I asked if they had a restroom, my woman needed to go, they said it was out of order and to go to Taco Bell. While I was paying I asked it the restroom really was out of order and the young guy responded this isn't a public restroom. I said yea but I'm a paying customer.
