When he came out to provide an estimate, he also noticed lightning and internal pest damage in two of the other trees. No pressure, just the fact that they were going to deteriorate faster than they should. Having tree tags I checked with the city to assure they were OK to take down. After they came out (thank you) I got the 2nd opinion. Definitely not imminent, but they also saw and agreed there was trouble sometime in the future. Called Nick and got it rolling. As the trees are in the backyard, each being 100-120ft tall and 90in circumferences, a bucket truck would be needed. Nick advises we should wait until the ground dries enough. So as soon as that occurred, he checked in during interim to make sure it was good to go, which turned out to be May 8th. They showed up at 8 as promised, and with a crew of three took out 40000 lb and a full truck of chippings by 8pm. Cleaning up so as it didn't even look like there were three trees that morning. He yelled at me on 2 separate occasions because he was wrong and instead of saying his company made a mistake he got defensive and yelled at me. The first time he was very rude and raised his voice to me was when I called after waiting 3 weeks for my tree to get cut, he left a message and said that I was 2nd on the list for the next week and he was coming Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week. Tuesday I called to confirm and he got all defensive saying he never said that and that I was on the schedule for Friday and he never schedules that far out. I offered to send the voicemail he left me to him but he declined. I should have known then not to do business with him however I had already waited over 3 weeks, I was desperate. The second incident was after my tree was cut. His team had initially put the wood in my neighbor's yard. It is pretty obvious that it was not my yard, and I had to run after them before they left to move it back to my yard. His team also put 2 large logs from the trunk into the creek behind my house. I called let Joe know and to discuss when his team could complete the work (still had to grind stump and mound) and that is when he lost it on me. He was so rude and started yelling at me saying why would his guys do that, maybe it rolled down a hill. I explained to him there is no hill and it had to be intentional. Joe cut me off, yelling again saying, "well I will get someone out there to remove the little logs." I explained to him they were not little logs they were very large. Joe then hung up on me. Then he sent me a text message which you can see below. I could not believe what happened, that he yelled at me the way he did instead of listening and trying to fix the issue. I responded to him and told him I was cancelling the initial check because we paid for services we did not get and he can now deal with my husband. WARNING to anyone looking to hire this company... In his message he states that they usually just leave the wood "wherever it falls!" Had I known this I would have never hired Family Tree Removal. On top of all this, my yard was a MESS when they left! There are at least 20 holes in my yard now from when they just let the very large branches fall. I understand a mess and some holes but the amount I have in my yard now is ridiculous. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Be careful if you hire them.
