I purchased a home here in Detroit while still living in California. I knew there were some problems that would require pros, including a 40+ year old out of control Natchez crepe myrtle in the front yard. The house had been a rental for decades that the LLC that owned it did very limited maintenance on. When I arrived here I could plainly see that the tree had been ignored for well over ten years. The tree was dying, had branches and limbs on the roof and wrapped around the chimney as well as hanging over my neighbor's yard, driveway and too near their roof and porch. I also had a huge sugar maple in the back with limbs hanging over the back part of the roof, plus a bunch of young slippery elm with their shallow root system starting to ruin the back fence. For THREE weeks I called tree trimmers culled from Pro lists like Home Advisor and Angie's List and referrals from locals. Basically NO ONE responded. Finally someone called but couldn't do it. She had responded via Yelp. Had to then download Yelp to contact her. Her company couldn't do it. She contacted someone else for me. They couldn't do it. I'm not even sure HOW I or they found JCS and Dakota for me, but it happened. Dakota came out and literally visually analyzed the entire scenario. I'm prattling and I could see him assessing quietly the magnitude of the problem. He gave me a quote- one I found in line with costs I had previously researched for tree removal and trims in this city so I hired him then and there. We set a target date. He kept me apprised. He, Jake and Andrew showed up and started right in on the task. These guys are young but don't think twice about that. Dakota grew up in this trade and knows what he's doing. They kept me in the loop with each step taken to excise branches and limbs from my roof, making sure that there was no added damage from the removal. They made sure to take extra care removing portions encroaching my neighbor's home. In the end my neighbor was pleased and I was pleased. These guys are personable, professional, kind, I cannot day enough good things about them. They stacked branches and corded wood for the chipper, which was no easy task. This company was great to deal with. I had a large tree partially snap and it was hanging over the driveway in a precarious position. We called JCS, and Dakota was out giving an estimate before many of the other companies even returned my call. While still here, he emailed me a written estimate, clearly breaking down the costs of the project, which also included other downed trees and branches, photos of the areas to be worked on, and copies of their insurance certificate. The weather turned bad, which delayed the anticipated start date, but when I explained to Dakota that I was worried the original tree would fall, he got the whole crew over to my house at the first break in all the rain. They took down the big tree quickly, and performed the other work very professionally. They cleaned up all the areas of work, and made sure to walk the property with me to make sure I was satisfied. JCS Tree service did an absolutely great job for me in a time of need. A severe storm uprooted and blew down a huge Locust tree in my front yard and damaged my garage roof. On emergency call in the evening, they came out fast, cut away the limbs, and got the roof tarped quickly. After I obtained insurance approval, I called them back and they were able to complete the cleanup. JCS did an excellent job, the crew was hard working and conscientious. When they finished the area was clean and looked great. I am so impressed with JCS Tree Service. They just took down a massive cottonwood tree in our backyard and did an incredible job. The crew was meticulously prepared and careful every step of the way. They worked so hard, while staying friendly and focused and let us know what they were doing as needed. They cleaned up at the end of each day. Dakota and his team did an amazing job on a difficult tree removal for my husband and I. We had a very large, probably ~150 year old oak tree that was stuck between our garage and a fence in our back yard. It was a very tight space but they removed it safely and without issue despite the obstacles. They were clean and efficient and did a great job of communicating with our neighbors as well. I have 2 1/2 acres and had a sixty foot spruce uprooted and several other trees that I wanted removed after a recent storm. JCS came out in less than a week. There were about six workmen. It was raining. They worked for about seven hours without leaving for a lunch break. They were very cooperative, very considerate, and they charged a very reasonable price.
