I have eaten here a handful of times and I honestly can't say I have had a bad meal or experience. Today it was a turkey aviator with side of hm chips. Chips came out hot. Gotta love that. Turkey aviator was toasted and cheese melty. It was good. A sea of lettuce. The tomatoes could have been larger or more prominent. I like tomatoes. I've had a few different salads, some of their soups, and their chicken salad. All pretty good. Again, I've never had a bad meal or experience here. Service is friendly and prompt. Food comes out quick. Place is clean. Deep booths and middle tables. Dark wood. Light atmosphere. Nice patio. For a quick sandwich soup type of deal you can't go wrong. read more

FOOD POISONING. I stopped with my wife and 4 year old son stopped for a late lunch. Parking lot was busy but open tables were available which was great. We must've been on the back end of the busy lunch out. Maybe perfect timing! Not. Here's where it gets odd. It took 20 minutes for someone to come greet us once we were seated. We ordered a grinder, a chicken salad, a kids pizza, and a few bowls of French onion soup. It must've taken at least 45 minutes to receive our food. My wife and I just ate half our meals and headed for home to get our other young guys from the bus. I finished the grinder for dinner that evening. Around 9 p things went super sideways. My stomach was destroyed. I feel like my gut is generally pretty strong but this recked me. My wife wasn't feeling well. We looked at each other and with the two of us both in bad shape we did the math. Must have been some spoiled meat. I was up all night with all the fun (graphic) symptoms of food poisoning. Feeling much better today. Hind site is always 20/20 but I would never take my family back to Grinders. We should have saw some red flags but we didn't. Terrible experience. Came here for the first time for lunch invited by friends who lived in the area! We were immediately met by a smiling hostess who seated us at a quite spot inside the restaurant! Loved the clean traditional decor, which gave an inviting open unstressed feel! They had lots of traditional American food available! However we ordered classic burgers and Asian salads and it was brought out within 5 to 7 minutes! At first the salad bowl looked small but it was much larger than i thought... it was very filling!! Great spot to grab lunch while visiting Hartville. Nice size dining area that can accompany the customers with good social distancing. Glass between booths and plenty of sanitizer. Very good appetizer options. We had the potato skins and onion rings. The potato skins don't have much potato and the onion rings could use a little crisp but both were tasty. The cup of chili was amazing. Decent beer and wine list. Grinder sandwich was fresh and served warm; great flavor. Burgers were perfectly cooked and tasty. Service was good but food was below par. Reuben had only two slices of corned beef, the French onion soup was bread/crouton absent and the fresh avocado on my grinder was anything but. The menu was extensive so maybe we didn't get what they specialize in. read more

The hot chocolate is amazing here! Desserts are also really good but i recommend sharing. We got the breaded mushrooms with horseradish sauce (which has quite a kick!). Bathroom was clean and service was great. I would definitely go back again, especially as they have won awards for their vegetarian options and we didn't get a chance to try them! read more

Have I really never written a review for grinders? I've been eating here forever! The food is the same at every location, so this really could apply to any, they are incredibly consistent from location to location. They're a local chain, one of the reasons I like giving them my business. They have a huge menu and often have seasonal specials, but I tend to stick to my favorites. The cheeseburger is one of the best anywhere, I love the Cobb salad, the wraps are great (grinders if you're reading this please bring back the chicken queso wrap!), and man can they really treat a potato right. The potato skins, spudniks, fries, and my all time favorite can never not order them cheesy baked hash browns, are all fantastic. Lest I forget the grinders in my review of Grinders, they are fab. Love the philly, tuna, southwest- whichever you pick my tip is to get it oven baked, I love the the toasted bread. And check out their soups each day- as a girl who orders hot soup even in summer I appreciate that they have more choices then pretty much anywhere. They also have a tempting selection of pies, cakes, brownies etc every day. Service in each place is pretty consistent too, almost always pleasant and quick. They need to change the menu add some new ones just the same old stuff all the time it's bored with head, a young girl that she wasn't polite and she came always late asking questions will have to track her down. Have not eaten inside at this facility but I wanted a club sandwich Sunday and decided to order takeout. I got the Asian chicken salad and the club grinder, they ask if you want the bread toasted or not and I like that, I don't like soft bread and the toasting was just right. It was done when I got there which was pretty quick, and everything tasted fresh and good. I will go back especially for takeout! read more

I was staying out of town and I called in a to go order. The phone was clearly on speaker and the hostesses voice was muzzled. It was very loud. I had her repeat my order to me three times to finally get it right. I had the manager checked the bag and she said everything was there upon pick up. I got back to my hotel room and one of the dinners were just missing. I am a vegetarian, so it was tough for me to find anything close by to eat. do not recommend this restaurant. Been multiple times! Always a great experience. The only downfall is that they are not equipped for larger families. We're a family of six and we always ending waiting longer and people walk in after us, seat before us because they have to push tables together. But the service is nice! Waiters are quick. I have always liked this place so maybe this isn't the perfect experience to write a review, but I will anyway. 3 of us came for lunch and were seated quickly at probably the last available table. Our server took drinks orders but never mentioned there were specials which were on a menu which we thought was just drinks. After getting drinks our order was taken and we all ordered the same Eastern grinder, only one had no peppers. We waited a really long time, and never saw our server for drink refills. Somebody else brought our food and we had to sort out the grinders. The food was fine, predictable, but our server was below average. We had also forgotten that chips don't come with your grinder but the server never asked if we wanted them, which is normal practice. We think servers were overwhelmed and nobody was cleaning off tables. There was a couple with 2 small children who were pounding beers and they were all lined up on their table. Had table been cleaned, we never would have realized they were drinking so much. read more

I can't believe I've never written a review for Grinders in Hartville. This is one of our favorite restaurants. The service is always friendly. The food is always fresh, never greasy. We've probably tried everything on the menu and we are never disappointed. I love their Key West Salad with strawberries, grapes, kiwifruit, mandarin oranges, housemade honey roasted cashews, housemade cinnamon croutons. The dressing is their housemade Key West coconut dressing, but I prefer their hot bacon dressing. It's the best in the state. The decor is dark cherrywood, modern. They have a bar with one TV and happy hour is 4-6pm. read more

This is a pretty good little place. I stopped in after reading reviews and at first thought I'd wandered into an upscale steakhouse, based on the decor. I was seated immediately and a waitress came over almost as soon as I sat down. I managed to hit Happy Hour, so I ordered a cocktail and it was really strong and really good. I also ordered the potato skins appetizer, after seeing them mentioned in almost every review I'd read. I ordered the Texas Burger for dinner and it was really good, as were the potato skins. My only gripe on the visit is the fact that my appetizer and meal were delivered at almost the exact same time. I wasn't even through one potato skin and the meal was being placed on the table. I enjoy prompt service and a fast kitchen but an appetizer is supposed to come out before the meal so that you can finish it before the real food comes. Other than that, the place was great. I did notice that, even at 34 years of age, I appeared to be 40 years younger than just about every other person eating there, but I'm sure that changes by the night and that it's not strictly senior citizens that dine there. If I'm ever back in the area I would dine here again, and try something else because everything on the menu sounded good! read more

We have been to this grinders location in Hartville several times. The first few times, it wasn't bad, but not great. Portions are small. But we noticed the service and the food have progressively gotten worse. Since covid, it is terrible. The food is cold and the service is slow. There are very few restaurants in the Hartville area that are not fast food. Unfortunately we will not be returning to this grinders. read more

Literally one of my favorite restaurants and has been since my college days! The menu is huge! I've never had ordered something I didn't love. My favorites are the chicken salad grinder and the Santa Fe chicken grinder. Also, don't skip the appetizers. Potato skins with provolone and Russian dressing are perfect. We love this place. We have been to the Minerva location and were happy to find this location when driving through Hartville. We had a young child with us and they gave her some snacks to start, which was great as it kept her occupied until dinner was served. We all got grinders and they were excellent. We also had chicken noodle soup which was really good. The wedding soup was odd in that it had croutons and no pastini. Service was quick and server was friendly and personable, which is what we always experience in Minerva. Will definitely be back. read more

Let's just say, food was good, but PLEASE don't vacuum with a full dining room. THREE times in less than an hour we were there someone busted out the little battery vacuum. Other customers were also rightfully disgusted. The carpet was not filthy...Please learn restaurant etiquette!! Oy vey... So otherwise their veggie burger was great. Server was not attentive: I ordered the salad with veggie burger on it...even asked if I could do so....but she brought me a veggie burger wrap. Fixed promptly. Then I realized they forgot the cheese on the salad. I didn't say anything because I was sooooo tired of the hassle! Onion rings were ok... Batter was too thick and way too salty; also was not served with any condiment. None suggested either. (Duh) Burger for my date seemed good. While Grinder's comes off as a national chain (it's really well done), it is only found in Northeast Ohio, which makes it a good place to stop if you're not from the area. While nothing at Grinder's blows me away, it is a very solid place to get lunch or dinner. I don't know that I have ever gotten something here I didn't like. It always leaves me satisfied. Most of their menu centers around "grinders", aka sub sandwiches, but they have a large variety of other meal options, such as burgers, chicken dinners, salads, etc. Some favorites: Potato skins as an appetizer are a must Sweet Potato chips BBQ chicken wrap Any grinder that sounds good!
