First time here. I ordered the breakfast burrito with home fries. The food came out fast, and piping hot! What a plus! I don't know how many times I have eaten at restaurants that deliver lukewarm food. The purpose of eating in compared to fastfood is to get freshly cooked hot food. The burrito was large and tasted fresh. My only preference would have been to have more flavor. The salsa did not help as it tasted just like plain tomatoes from a can. I haded hot sauce and salt which did help. The home fries were perfectly cooked--tender on inside, and crisp and brown on the outside. I watched as other food items were delivered to other guests, and the fries and onion rings looked perfectly cooked, also. Can't wait to try one day. The food is phenomenal and the service is the same. I have been coming here off and on since the mid 90's. I had the chicken Marsala again and the salad bar. This was my first time here and the staff were super friendly. I got the Crazy 8 (2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, and 2 bacon) and had the eggs cooked over medium. Wow those eggs were good. We have eaten at Variety's many times and have never been disappointed. The salad bar which is included with most entrees is excellent. There is a wide variety of veggies and condiments. A tasty soup is included. On this day it was a potato soup. I've had a bean soup that I enjoyed on other visits. At this visit we ate shortly before closing and the salad bar was still well stocked and neat. For an entree I had a veal cutlet that was tasty and well prepared. I chose stuffing rather than mashed potatoes for a side dish. No complaints. My wife had turkey with mashed potatoes and stuffing. We were so full that we took most of it home for lunch. At about $15.00 for each, the price was reasonable. The server was very pleasant and prompt. The room was bright and clean. The owner ignored me, my niece and brother. She sat two families before us. The second family scolded her for ignoring us and telling her we were there well before they were. It's a little too bright for our taste, but Ivy was a great server. The lasagna was really good and an incredible amnt. of meat!! The serving was so big, I have another meal. We won't be back. The food was greasy, overcooked, and under seasoned. I have never had pancakes so rubbery that they were almost impossible to cut. Tried with a fork, and the 'pancake' came off of the plate! When we let the server know, instead of offering to take them off, she said she would ask the cook. Apparently, they would be remade with the same batter, so how about French toast? The French toast was small, greasy, and pathetic looking on the plate. I ate one bite. We had a great experience. The staff was friendly. Very importantly it was CLEAN. Probably cleaner than most places I've seen. Very important. The prices were good. I paid $60 with tip anywhere else I would have ended up paying nearly double. They have breakfast all day and since I miss breakfast every day I got the chopped sirloin, with 3 eggs, potatoes and sour dough toast and I had leftovers. It was really good. My daughter had the ribeye with baked potato and salad bar. She was very pleased with her steak. It was good and cooked to the right temperature off the bat. We didn't have to send it back. The salad bar was fully stocked and clean so it didn't resemble a hog trough like other places. The salad bar had a nice choices too. You could fill up on that alone. Sorry , had the meatloaf today and the red sauce tasted like chefboyardee sauce and the meatloaf itself was really bready not sure how much actual meat was in it. This restaurant has the best home cooked meals ! Portions are huge, salad bar had everything you would want and atmosphere was relaxing. Service was wonderful! Salad bar is probably the best part of the meal here. Got the Swiss steak special. Mashed potatoes and gravy were pretty good. Swiss steak when I've had it was usually fairly similar to this but lacked seasoning and the slice of swiss...hence the name...on it. Wife's country fried steak was much better. Kids spaghetti was awful. Not really spaghetti noodles, watery, greasy, and meatball was not impressive. Excellent service. Bathrooms are a little weird with 2 doors in them. Today was our third visit to Varieties Restaurant in N Canton. The food is great and servers are excellent however, the "manager" or "cashier ", Gina, tall lady with long hair who stands at the register is extremely rude, mean, and unprofessional! On our way out, my husband went into the men's room and when he came out he commented on how he could hear some lady screaming and yelling at someone and said whomever she was yelling at couldn't get a word in bc she kept yelling over top of them. I witnessed the front end of this as I was sitting near the entrance waiting on my hubby. As I was waiting on him, two servers had their time cards in their hand standing back patiently waiting for two ladies (customers) who were checking out together. No other customers were checking out or nearby. Gina, the cashier, escorted the two servers to the back. This is where my husband could hear her yelling through the mens room wall!! He says it sounded awful and this person was relentless. I knew exactly who it was because I saw her escort them through a doorway. When I got home, I called her and complained about her conduct and let her know this is not how management is to be treating their staff. I told her she was extremely rude and unprofessional. Right away she became loud and elevated with me then started telling me about the rules and how they know better than to be there waiting to clock out at the register etc... Regardless, I think she could have handled the situation differently. She's so worried about customers seeing the servers waiting respectfully to hand their time card to her (she apparently clocks them out) but, in my opinion, it's much worse for a customer to hear management screaming and yelling so loud they can be heard through the bathroom wall! I order take out from them and it is the same item every time. Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I do it in person , because for some reason the same cashier does not understand. They always throw pickles and orange slices in the to go box, that makes the wrap soggy. I always ask her to tell them don't put those in the box. I just want the wrap and fries in the box. And, yet, there they are. Yesterday, after a few months I tried again. No pickles or orange slices in the box. She kept getting very confused and finally said I will go back and tell them plain wrap, I said no, I want everything on the wrap that comes with it and fries, I don't want a pickle or orange slices in the box. Has a bariatric patient when I went in I can only eat a half a cup to a cup of food I purchased two children's menu dinners and it said you could add a soup and salad bar for $1.99 all I wanted was a half a cup of soup and I paid six dollars my waitress was very discriminatory made me feel like I was a terrible person and acted like it was coming out of her pocket read more

Great restaurant has become somewhat of a weekly stop for us everything you order is great value for money and you never leave her still hungry. All the staff are very friendly and the specials give you alot of options. One tip would be not to sit in the first booth when entering if you are there for breakfast or lunch it gets too much direct sun. read more

Argh! I forgot to snap a picture. We went to Variety's Monday morning for breakfast after realizing how many other restaurants in the area are closed on Mondays! The staff were all extremely friendly. The coffee was great and for the first time I can recall, we almost couldn't finish all of our food. That happens at lunch and dinner but not usually for breakfast. We were entertained by a lively group that were sitting two tables away that "spoke to the crowd" not just their table mates but that wasn't the fault of the restaurant staff. I'm a fan of mom&pop type places, this fits that perfectly. The salad bar was clean and sanitary, I especially enjoyed the pickled beats and homemade soup and jello. Usually visit for breakfast and today was no exception. Had a western omelet which looked overcooked (very brown on the outside) but was actually fluffy and moist throughout. The homemade home fries/hash browns are consistently excellent. The portions are generous. My only complaint for this morning is as follows: my wife and I are really trying to control what we eat lately as we are quickly gaining in years. So we ordered our western omelet with cheese (+.69) and an English muffin (+.29). We also ordered an extra English muffin. The waitress informed us there would be a one dollar up charge to share our meal. Yes, $1.00 is not going to break us but still struck us the wrong way. With all the really decent breakfast places to choose from, why would you do something that may drive your customers away. Friendly staff that makes you feel welcome and at home. Huge, hungry man sized portions of tasty home cooked food. Large menu selection and a nice, fresh salad bar. Breakfast is served all day.
