Grit is a big one-story gym in South Miami and Dadeland area. There are a few parking spots outside the building but can get taken very quick during busy hours. The area is safe from my experiences and there are security cameras too. The inside is a big open space with various equipments and accessories. Examples are bikes, rowers, weights, skiers, etc. There are no treadmills because people just run outside and/or at the back alley road--very safe, for real. Classes consist of different workouts: Core, Fit, Strength, Grit, etc. You can find the schedule on their website. Every class is different, which is fun because you never get bored and get to work out different body parts. An example of a workout class (from 6/29 Sat) is: Warmup and stretch 1 mile row or 2 mile bike 100 pushups 1 mile run 100 thrusters 1 mile row or 2 mile bike (Scale accordingly) The coaches I know of are Alex, Kris, Edgar, Emily, Mike, Gabe. They work well together and are approachable, easy to talk to, and very motivational. They never made me felt like I was inadequate. I really like the way that Kris, Edgar, and Emily coaches. Edgar, especially, would always check on my forms and teach me correct ways with lots of patience. I appreciate that. My boyfriend loves Gabe and his style of coaching. Alex mostly does personal training and monitors the gym with devices in his hands. Kris is like a father-figure. There is a small Infrared Sauna in the Changing Room. Towels are required. Bring your own or buy/borrow theirs. I haven't taken advantage of it yet but will soon. I keep forgetting to bring a towel haha. The entrance area has tables and chairs for kids or for those waiting/chilling. Sometimes the kids play in the gym area during classes, which I think is VERY dangerous, but it's up to the coaches and parents on the safety of the kids. If the kids get hurt...they should know better not to have allowed that in the first place. Aside from that, there are vending machines, apparels for sale, shelves, water fountains, phone chargers, devices for checking into the classes, flyers/brochures for local businesses, protein bars, and more. Membership prices as of today are: $149 - Unlimited individual $119 - Unlimited for Family #2 $99 - Unlimited for Family #3 $80 - 5 classes Discounts are available for First Responders, nurses, military/veterans, teachers, students. Right now they are running a special of 14 days for $14. That's a great deal for those who want to try out the gym. People of all ages--well, not kids--come to Grit. It's a great place to network and be surrounded by people who want to workout for better health, get in shape, get more energy, etc. If you have any questions, everyone is more than welcome to chat. It just depends on who you feel connected with, and go from there. A lot of young professionals come to the gym so it's a great place to make friends too. Overall, I really enjoy coming to the gym so far. I am just a few months in and my body is just getting adjusted to working out more on a regular basis. The classes are tough and intense for me, but I scale accordingly and try not to kill myself. If the workout requires heavy weights, I'll use kettlebells or dumbbells in the meantime. I've tried to do the workouts fully before and ended up feeling dizzy and nauseous. However, I am getting better and better, and am able to fulfill some of the workouts more. Remember, it's more of a marathon than a race. Don't overkill your body and health, do it at your own pace and listen to your body. I find that after not being in school anymore and not having many coworkers at my job, it's hard to meet people, especially those who are motivated, dedicated, willing to get better, and more. This is a great place for that and surround yourself in.

This is my new home away from home! I joined back in June and I absolutely love it so much. The workouts are tough but the Coaches teach you everything. The people that go to GRIT are like a family, always motivating and encouraging you to keep it going. The Osuna brothers (Owners) are phenomenal people and guide you every step of the way. So grateful to be coming to GRIT and all the results I have been seeing. They have a membership from me for a long, long time. *For COVID regulations they have kept everything super safe and super clean. There is space between us during every workout and more than enough cleaning supplies to go around.* ‍

I've been coming here for four years now. I've even tried to leave twice to gyms closer to my house and i always come back. There is truly no other gym like Grit! The coaches are awesome, the community equally as amazing. You will not regret any of the workouts

Amazing gym and great experience. The coaches are amazing , they teach you and watch you, to ensure you are doing the exercises properly . The classes are always on time. The facility is always cleaned down and neat . They have classes hour on the hour, to fit a busy schedule and over all they make you feel like family . It's a great place to work out and release your daily stresses. Love this place !

Absolutely love coming here! I joined August 2018 during their 14 day free trial. I love how every single class challenges me and leaves me drenched in sweat. The trainers are very fun and knowledgeable. They also offer yoga classes on top of the their CrossFit classes.

As for the workout...totally worth it, you'll feel so accomplished after!! Now for the "could use improvement" stuff... the instructor was kind of rude... not even what she said, but like how she said it. She'd correct your form like she was annoyed. Also, it's hard to hear her over the music, so everyone ends up just looking around at each other to figure out what to do. And parking... definitely give yourself extra time to find a spot because it's a bit of a hassle.

I have done Pilates, and barre for some time but never in a heated room. Not only was the playlist great but the guidance and correction from the instructor was well appreciated. I am not from the area and I found Starr Hawkins social media page earlier in the year through exercise posts. I am glad I did. The same radiating energy she shows on her page also comes through in her class. I look forward to getting the chance to take another one of her classes. Things to note- there's one bathroom and one shower and they are in the same room. Rental of a mat and a towel are available for $6. The staff at the front was very helpful and clear as it was my first time there. I chose a space in the back but I then realized I was next to the speaker so I probably will choose a space in the front. Also note since this is popular class and studio I would recommend you arrive early. I arrived about 40 mins before class and I have the option to choose wherever I wanted. As starting time got closer people rushed in to get a space in the front to take their videos and photos before class started.

Seriously?! While I do believe that there is a divine energy that all spiritual practices connect to, there is NO all encompassing magical ancient alignment between Vedic tradition and Mesoamerican timekeeping - WHAT THERE IS is modern Miami marketing that tosses two unrelated cultures into a blender, and slapping on a sparkly label, 'Galactic Signature.' If you're truly tapping into cosmic energy, a high-octane Power Vinyasa flow for the gym body ego is the last type you'd promote. This place is spiritual smoothie that manages to be culturally tone deaf to both India and the Maya simultaneously.....all while overcharging to pretend that doing extra Chaturangas because of a Blue Cosmic Hand is anything other than a workout with a heavy layer of appropriation. It must be nice to have leverage over communities that either cannot or typically do not speak for themselves. I'd LOVE to see you try this with different ethnicities and see if you'd get away with this chopping up. It seems the rock climbing and bungee jumping rattled your brains enough to think spitting out this new age b.s. was spiritual aligned and culturally respectful.

Prana Yoga offers 3 studios, with the back room being the nicest, and a wide variety of class levels and times. Metered parking is available right in front for .50 cents every 15 minutes. Free street parking is available about a block away. There are a plethora of teachers to choose from so your bound to find one that you like. Ian, Eric, and Silvia are all great! I did an Intermediate class with each of them and it was wonderful! They ask permission to help position you and exude open, accepting, and non judgmental vibes. The instruction was easy to follow and they also did most of the poses themselves. Ian ended the class with a relaxing aromatherapy, which I thoroughly enjoyed. There is only one teacher that I am not at all fond of, Ana. I like to look at the teacher in the pose to make sure I am following correctly. Ana does not actually do any poses herself, just instructs so I find myself looking at other participants for visual guidance. To add to that, I find her instruction difficult to follow. She makes frequent references in what I assume is Indian, but I don't have a clue what she is saying. I also really appreciate when the instructor helps position me correctly, but Ana does not. Instead she tries to instruct you into correct position, which doesn't help me because her instruction is hard to follow!! I just get an arrogant vibe from her, and I do not leave her class feeling relaxed or with good energy. Anyway, the studio plays music during the practice, and I prefer quiet, but not too big of a deal. I find the walk-in class to be overpriced at $20, but that seems to be the going rate at most studios. I managed to get a Groupon deal which is the only reason I considered Prana Yoga initially, and if you buy a bundle it's a better deal. I now purchased 20 classes for $200, which is very reasonable. I look forward to continuing my practice at Prana Yoga, and avoiding Ana! Lol :)

My friend had heard great things about the place, so we decided to check it out for ourselves. We took the 6:30 PM Deep Love Yin class, and wow, I was in for a surprise. This 60 minute Yin yoga session was restorative, healing, meditative, and truly beautiful. I left feeling completely recharged and ready to tackle the week ahead. The class was led by three different instructors, with each segment focusing on different stretches, movements, and poses. It felt like time stood still, but in the best way helping me reconnect with my body. The background sounds were incredibly soothing, adding to the overall serene atmosphere. I absolutely loved the experience and can't wait to return!

The best sound bath experience you will have…read more My partner found Agni Miami on Class Pass a few years ago and both of us decided to try their Monday night sound bath class together. After completing one session, I was hooked on the healing journey. Every Monday night for as many Monday's as I could, you would find me at Agni Miami for their 7:45 pm sound bath class. I've been making my way back as of late. Many revelations, lots of healing, and nights of relaxation came from these sound bath classes led by Vivi and Carrie. I am forever grateful. To participate is quite easy, sign up for a class, and come prepared with your mat, an open mind, and your body. That's all! Viví and Carrie will do the rest to guide you. I highly recommend to bring your own cushions for under your head or knees as you lie still on your mat for the whole session. If you're like me, a little support goes a long way. They do offer cushions for free at the studio, but depending on how full the class is they may run out. The class environment is usually pretty warm--come comfortable and light. Parking is a breeze--just use the side parking lot attached to shopping center. I also highly recommend arriving a few minutes early not only to get a good spot in the studio, but so as not to interrupt the session once it starts. Also--this is the perfect time to detach from your phone! Turn it off completely and even venture to store it in the closets at the end of the studio. What I really appreciate about this sound bath experience in particular, are the wise words of connection and relatability that Viví always shares to start and to end. She helps to set the intention and prompts participants to get in the right frame of mind. Plus, the studio as you'll see from the photos gives a beautiful healing ambiance. Now to be completely fair, I know my review is revolving around their Sound Bath--that's because I personally haven't taken a yoga class with them as I haven't made the leap to do yoga yet. But I know many who LOVE to take class there. Still, I found it important to review because even if you drop in just like me, it may open you up to explore more of their classes! Are you not convinced yet? Agni Miami is a must try!
