Scared shit-less, I pulled over 20 miles outside Waco in the middle of nowhere. Initially thought I had somehow popped my tire, but it turned out to be my partially ripped splash guard scraping its way down the highway. Decided to hedge my bets, drove into Waco, called ahead, and he kindly met me at his shop. He looked under, cut off the splash guard, and assured me the dripping fluid was AC condensation. I was so happy I could cry, and even after I insisted on paying, he wouldn't even let me!! Multiple times. WHAT?? Wow, what an embodiment of a good Samaritan. Totally recommend 100%.

Unfortunately, we picked it up after hours on a Friday afternoon, so he contacted the shop first thing the following Monday morning to let them know it wasn't fixed. They had us bring it back in, but wanted more money to then fix a different part. That is when my husband wanted to talk to the owner about why they fixed the other part in the first place and why they were charging so much more. Due to the owner's attitude and combativeness, we were reluctant to leave our car there any longer and just picked it up. We asked for the part that had been replaced because my husband wondered if it was really bad or they just fixed the wrong thing. Conveniently, they didn't have the part to give us.

I set out to search for a mechanic on Yelp and Anglie's List. Then I started calling them. When I talked with Fred, I knew I found the right repair shop. Fred and his team looked after her safety during her years in Waco. There was regular maintenance and some significant repairs, and Fred came through ever time. His estimates were accurate, the repairs were competently done, and I learned I to trust him and his judgement. I spoke with Fred several times over the years but I've never got to thank him personally. The truck made it home now after several thousand mile journeys and I have seen the evidence of Fred's good handy work.
