Brought my toddler in with smashed front teeth. We got a quick appointment and had an amazing experience all around. Everything is very well planned with kids in mind. They were awesome! My 19 month old had a blast. It's great they start out in the playroom and get comfortable so that by the time it comes to cleaning it's not so traumatic. The quality of service is excellent from the front desk receptionist to the assistants and Dr. Groat himself. So glad we found them! Make sure you leave the Zoe twin stroller in the car though I couldn't fit through the front door It's okay though I wore my 3 month old and it was totally fine. They even offered to hold her. My toddler absolutely loves going to the dentist because of how nice they are - he gets to ride up and down in the chair, they explain to him everything that is going to happen and give him a sense of control, he gets to pick out a toy from the treasure box, etc. He feels like such a big kid when and last time we left, he told me he wanted to go back again tomorrow. At one point he complained that his tooth hurt, and Dr. Groat's office was able to accommodate us for an appointment the same day. I also really like how they do not push unnecessary treatments. Dr. Groat senior was my first dentist I ever went to at three years old. I was a patient of the of his until I was in my early 20's. From my own personal experience to what I have witnessed while being in the office there is not a better place to take a child. The entire staff is dedicated to making your kid feel safe and comfortable. Explaining everything as they go or having the parent hold their little one so they don't feel so scared. I actually fell asleep in the chair while Dr. Groat was looking at my teeth when I was 13. My kid is 10 and I've been taking him to this office since he was like 5 maybe younger. Since the beginning this office has always tried to push a fluoride treatment and I have always politely declined them. My kids chart has been noted to the effect of NO FLUORIDE. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when my ex took our kid to his appointment because I was out of town. As I was in conversation with my sister bc she picked him up from school one day while I was out of town and she was telling me my kid had this white stuff on his teeth from his dentist appt. RIGHT THEN I knew what had happened so I phoned the dentist and asked about his last appointment. THEY GAVE HIM THE FLUORIDE treatment when I had specifically had my kids chart noted as a NO. So this office decided to screw what the parent says we are going to do it anyway. Dr Groat there is more than one way to treat the issue. You and I both know that. You decide profits of parents and that is a shame. read more

Totally dismayed. Brought my 5 yr old in for her fillings after looking forward to this appointment for three weeks. She had originally had a successful exam and X-rays, and her cavities have been hurting her, so this was very needed. After knowing kids who died from misuse of nitrous oxide, I have a hesitant approach to its routine use, and wanted the doctor to use it sparingly, if at all. I understand it has become routine, but with side effects being nausea, vomiting, and headaches, I only want it used as necessary. We arrived 10 minutes early, and when we weren't yet seen 15 minutes after our appointment time, we inquired as to the extent of the delay and were told at minimum another 5-10 minutes. 30 minutes after our appointment time the assistant hastily came to usher my daughter and I back. She hurriedly began prepping my daughter, and got ready to start administering the nitrous oxide. I asked if it was already necessary, she stated absolutely, I inquired for what, and she said I could talk to the doctor. I agreed. After introducing himself, Dr. Groat immediately started setting me up to dismiss us, telling me that if I'm uncomfortable with treatment, that we won't be a good fit. After telling him I will be comfortable if he would only use the gas as necessary; he would not agree to that, and again reiterated that we may not be a good fit. I went to confirm with my wife, and Dr. Groat wanted to speak to us together and pulled us into a glass waiting room. My wife informs us that the assistant came out and bad mouthed me to reception while I was speaking to the Dr., and that reception had been gossiping and complaining about the frequency of morning appointment calls. The Dr. then tells us that he won't service today's appointment as we are out of time. Wait, what??!! You are over 30 minutes late, don't qualify a parents legitimate concern about therapy for his 5 year old, try to use clever semantics to deny treatment, call a three way counseling session, and then cancel the day's appointment anyhow, when you have a patient experiencing pain and waiting for her appointment for three weeks? I told the Dr. that all of the experience combined was unacceptable, and that we can take a hint and we'll leave. I'm sure Chris is great if you don't have any concerns about the amount of drugs he's administering to your kid. I understand that there's a routine system that works for most. But I don't want to alter my kid's consciousness unless she's uncomfortable, not just because she might be. read more

My family has always loved Dr. Groat and his staff. I wanted to take a few minutes to say I was even more impressed with our visit last week. They take the coronavirus very seriously. I was nervous to take my daughter to the dentist since the staff would be so close to her face, which could expose my daughter. But, they took precautions from before we even walked into the office. You call from the car, they took my temperature and my daughter's temperature with an infrared thermometer. We were required to wear masks. She even opened the doors for us so we wouldn't touch the handles of the door building. We were told to clean our hands with hand sanitizer before entering the building. The staff all had masks, gloves, gowns, shoe and hair covers. They also wore face shields. When it was time to pick a toy, the tech showed my daughter a picture of the toys to choose from, and the tech got the toy for her, rather than my daughter putting her hands on all the toys. There were no other patients in the office while we were there, and I saw the lady at the desk cleaning the counters as the last person left. I was very impressed with their precautions. As always, they were very nice and thorough, asked if I had questions, and ensured my daughter was comfortable. My daughter is 5, and loves going to Dr. Groat's office. read more

I was very impressed by Dr. Chris Groat and his staff, I have been wanting to write a review and I created my first Yelp account just for that! My son was 3 when we first visited Dr. Groat's office. My son is very strong willed. He was quick to have melt down and he barely spoke English at the time, so I was very anxious about making his 1st dental appointment. However, my son actually enjoyed his visit so much that he was smiling for the entire time! He was actually sad to leave the office. My son LOVES Dr. Chris, but ALL his staff, hygienists, receptionists and everyone in the office is very informative and friendly. Also, wait is never too long and they never make you feel rushed. We took our 2 year old to Dr. C Groat ( highly recommended by my colleague) and I'm so glad we took the recommendation. Dr. G was absolutely amazing and worked so well with my not to sit too long toddler. He was so patient with her ( while I'm sitting there freaking out that she would hit it kick and cry to no end) he made us feel 100% at ease and was able to fulfill the goal of cleaning my litte one teeth. He introduced the tools he was using on my child by using a puppet and let me say I as a grown woman was in aww and happy lol.The staff was absolutely fantastic and super nice and attentive. I wish he took adults lol. The amount of toys and games were great they even have an old school pacman game and that in it self I'm excited to go back just to play the game oh and more importantly to get my child teeth cleaned again lol... My 1 year old son had fallen in our backyard and knocked his first baby tooth so loose that it was barely hanging there. Not having a dentist yet for a baby who hasnt even gotten all his teeth I was freaking out! My Pediatrician recommended Dr Groat and we called and they were able to see us immediately. The office was beautiful and all the staff so friendly. I was a complete mess and Dr Groat was soo sweet and understanding. My son ended up getting the tooth pulled and Dr Groat was nothing but gentle. The whole situation was a nightmare but I couldn't have been more happy and lucky to have landed in his office that day!
