My wife, her mom, and I were driving north to Eureka, passing through Cloverdale during lunchtime. Flavia's appeared as a restaurant with very strong ratings, so decided to dine-in for an early lunch. It was a good experience, with good food and OK service. There is a dedicated lot next to the stand alone building, so parking was easy. The open sign was on, but the ambiance appeared sleepy, so guessing that it gets a lot busier later in the day. There were two people working, and once we got the front-of-house's attention, were seated at a comfortable table for 4. Complementary chips and salsa were provided Reviews and self-proclamations clearly state that birria (beef) was worth getting, so my wife got the Quesadilla Birria ($13.99), and her mom got the Camarones al Ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce $19.99). The menudo wasn't available, so I got the Pozole ($15.75) instead. They have cans and bottles of soda and beer, with a can of Coke being $2.50. Everything was good. The quesadilla was more like a grilled burrito (or chimichanga), and had been nicely crisped. My wife really enjoyed it. The shrimp plate came with rice and beans, which were OK, and choice of flour or corn tortilla (average). The large prawns were nicely cooked with a flavorful sauce. My pozole had good flavor without too much fat (the excess had obviously been skimmed) and was quite hot, though I wish it had more hominy and pork. My wife later found out that the meat used here is butchered on-site and that care is taken to remove excess fat. It really shows: all the meat dishes were not greasy and there wasn't the pools of fat that often accompany hastily prepared dishes. It was appreciated. Clover is the payment processor and there is a 3% fee for using a credit card. read more

This is a great little Mexican spot, most probably owned by a family. It is small and not fancy looking at all. But the food? Yum! As authentic as I have ever tried anywhere in SF Bay Area. The server was very friendly and helpful to accommodate our large group of 12 adults. We rearranged the tables and she was open to ideas and changed it twice without complaining when some of us couldn't figure out the best way. On the house Chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. Spicy too! Couple of dare devils in the group had asked for Havanero sauce without tasting the normal one. We never touched habanero. Today was my first time at Flavia's. I tried their quesabirria taco which came with a cup of consome, the chicharron taco which contained beans & pastor taco. All 3 tacos were deeeeelicious. It was definitely one of those meals that I could eat over and over again. All 3 tacos had their own unique flavor. The salsas used had just the right amount of heat. It's really unfortunate. I've gotten food to go from here 3 times, and each time my order has not been correct. I feel there's a communication issue between the Kitchen and the person taking the orders. I've told them the past two times when I picked up my order that the previous time it wasn't correct, and they didn't seem to take it very seriously. This is probably my third and final time there. Flavias was a very welcoming surprise. It is a little hole in the wall place. I saw the great reviews on yelp and so we decided to go there after our son's baseball game. The food was so, so good. I found Flavia's while looking for a place to stop for lunch midway newb Fort Bragg and home. Reviews were good and Mexican food sounded perfect. Although the building didn't look like much, I think it was a former fast food place, there were lots of people eating there. We took the last available table and ordered. I ordered the Chile Rellano burrito and the server brought out chips and salsa while we waited. The chips were seasoned and so good and the burrito was one of the best I've had. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! My daughter got married in the Cloverdale area, and the morning after I was hosting breakfast for at least 30 people, for which I had no idea where to go for help with that. My husband and I happened upon Flavia's where we met Eva. We told her what help we needed and wow, what a blessing she was! I ended up ordering 30 breakfast burritos and bagels as well as a beautiful fruit tray ... all delivered by Eva to our Airbnb! Our crowd was definitely the 'morning after' group of family, friends, and the bridal party - needless to say, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the burritos and bagels! We were passing through Cloverdale on our way back to Santa Rosa and stopped at Flavia's for lunch only because we vaguely remembered a restaurant that had been there before. As we went to the side patio to take a table, we asked a diner already there what he recommended. He told us that he's there often and always has the birrias. Surprisingly, we'd never had birrias before, so we ordered a couple, along with a burrito to share. So impressed! Very tasty, not expensive, and such friendly staff. Next time we're driving through Cloverdale, Flavia's will be a destination restaurant for us. Even though the burrito was delicious, we're going to load up on those birrias. Actually, I found this wonderful place by accident. I took the wrong exit and ended up in Cloverdale. Needing something to drink, this bright purple colored building caught my attention, so, decided to check it out. It's a Mexican place with an unusual menu and they make homemade horchata! They have all sorts of bagel & breakfast options in addition to some traditional items. But one of my favorite things is a carnitas taco. I regret that I only ordered one because it was the best one I've ever had! It smelled so good that I scarfed it down before remembering to take a picture! If you're ever in Cloverdale you must try this restaurant! 5 stars is an understatement. The food is f*cking amazing. Pardon my French. The tortillas are hand made which is such a luxury to have in a small town. The horchata is made fresh daily, and sometimes they have fun flavors like strawberry! Honestly it's all in the details of this restaurant... case in point, they seal your burritos with grilled cheese. I swear this place is next level. They also have extremely friendly staff who will go out of their way to make sure you are happy! Shout out Johan! We were in town for a visit, and we had a craving for Mexican food and ended up at Flavia's. It was a hot Sunday afternoon and the place was not busy. We liked seating in the shade in the patio. The food was good, with a generous portion of shredded chicken in my burrito. The part that was super annoying were the flies in our food. They were relentless.
