We visit this location often to pickup some grocery items. Recently they had nice big blueberries that were difficult to find at other stores. They have a lot of snacks items available but make sure to check the expiry dates. Their produce like potatoes, tomatoes, milk is usually good. And they have seasonal items like decor items during christmas. On weekends the lines could get long so plan ahead. This store is in a plaza that has lots of businesses so parking could get tricky especially on weekends. However if you chose to park a bit far than you will easily get the parking. Staff is friendly and they help move the lines pretty quickly. Overall a nice spot to pick up some groceries and snacks. read more

Wow, the rating of this Grocery Outlet has gone down quick after the change of ownership. I do feel that this is a well maintained Grocery Outlet, and the new owners are doing a great job keeping the store well stocked with products that customers are seeking, all at reasonable prices. However, for some reason, they seem to lack enough staff for the size of the store. They clearly need to hire more staff, because when you have questions, it's hard to find someone to assist you, and often times you have to stand in the long checkout line when you have a question or don't know the price of something. The staff that work here are friendly, but they just lack enough staff. The checkout lines are long, and generally, they only have 1-2 cashiers, with zero back up in sight. I wish they would have more registers opened, so the wait times are not long. Hopefully the new owners see this and ensure they have proper staffing to ensure customers are not waiting in long lines to checkout. read more

If you're a frugal grocery shopper looking for bargains, Grocery Outlet doesn't disappoint. This Milpitas location has some of the best freezer meat selections sold in bulk packages compared to other locations. Perfect for BBQ grilling options at discounted prices. Sauces and ingredients for cooking are all low in prices too. Best of all, the packaged meats from freezer/refrigerators actually tastes great! I tried the pork back ribs $6.99 and the lamb skewers $8.99. Absolutely delicious after easily setting them into the oven. Very well marinated. You would have to pay over $18-$20 each elsewhere. Surprisingly, frozen seafood selections were generous too. You can find healthy and organic options here. Don't buy the regular meats on displays by the vegetables. I am not a fan of it. Brussels sprouts in bulk pack under $5 are actually very good and bulk avocados too in prices. Always smell mushrooms before purchasing. Some things are worth buying if you look them up in advance while other items you may want to avoid, especially if purchasing food items with expiration dates. Yes, look at expiration dates on breads/dairy products and others. Breads can go bad quickly. Pastas and spaghetti sauces are worth purchasing here. Unbeatable prices. One thing I didn't expect to find was citronella candles to keep bugs and insects away from patios and outdoor use. They have it here and you don't need to pay over $10-$20 for citronella candles which are useful to have around BBQ tables/backyard. I wish the store was even bigger, but this place is still decent in size. I just don't like the parking lot as it can get congested fast. Overall, they have great cashiers on the job and employees stocking items on shelves. Clean and organized. I would revisit for future BBQ grilling options in future. Yes, they sell chimney lighters and charcoals too. Garden section is decent. Don't forget to open your app coupon to save an extra $5 off $25 at checkout. Keep looking for deals. read more

Such a convenient 'discount' grocery store in the heart of the Gateway to the Silicon Valley - that's Milpitas! Prime location with ample parking that's anchoring the Calaveras Plaza shopping center with a plethora of different Asian cuisines to satisfy one's craving, in addition to the many businesses & services calling the strip mall home! I've always stopped by this grocery store whenever I find myself in the area - and their store is ALWAYS stocked up, in addition to the many deals you find, that you can easily enjoy the thrill of bargain huntin' for groceries, and other knick knacks & household items - all in under one roof! The staff are all-around courteous, friendly, helpful, and personable!! In addition, I always find what I need - in addition to a few surprises that I would usually see at the higher-end grocery stores! Their products may not be the usual ones you'd see from the latter, but their reasonable & low prices is what makes me comin' back! Make sure to check their weekly ad that's posted online and/or their app - so you're in the know of what's on sale! Also, just keep in mind to check expiration dates - it doesn't hurt to get on that level of checking out some of their items. Parking can be a hassle (and a pain) within their lot, but don't let that deter you from hittin' up this supermarket! There's LOTS of businesses within this plaza, so a little patience will be helpful - and it's always a good idea to park a little further to avoid unwanted collisions from the entrance/exit of the store! It's been a couple years and I don't go often to Grocery Outlet these days as we're a little far from this one now. But once in a while, if we're in the area, I do pop on in. This time round, I just wanted to peruse the aisles in hopes to find some gems. Grocery Outlet is not your typical grocery store with specific name brands that you know that they'll carry or specific items. It's like a Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx or HomeGoods. You think of a specific item. They may have it and/or they may have a random brand of it. But you'll likely get a good deal. So whenever I come here, it's sometimes for powdered sugar or baking chocolate chips or perhaps I just need some cereal or chips or even a small pint of ice cream. I'm not looking for any brand in specific but I'm there for a deal. Sometimes we just stroll the aisles and discover a deal and we end up getting something fun to try out. Usually only one or two check out stands are open. It does get kinda lengthy when it's peak times to check out. But it's easy enough to check out with touchless payment. Parking can be a little crazy at times as it's shared with other very popular restaurants. So I would say try to shop during non eating times to get a parking spot easily. Aside from that, I just like to bargain hunt for items I'm not in super need for but willing to grab when it's in stock. read more

I have continued to come to this place because of Carmen. Super nice person and welcoming face here at my favorite grocery outlet. There are new owners and I'm hoping that it continues to be successful and a great place to find cheap and healthy goods. I know with their #1 employee Carmen that they will be successful. I just want to say thank you for keeping the place so welcoming and cheerful and safe for me to be. I I did notice that the new management were changing a lot of stuff at first and I really didn't like it, but I do think things have settled in a little bit. Holy cow they really improved a lot in the last couple of weeks! Since my last review I feel like they heard every single thing I said and started improving on every front. I went in again a couple more times and everything has turned around! The layout is a LOT better now and more open! Also the floor is so much cleaner and there are better positioned fruits and deals on produce that isn't expired or old. A huge turnaround this is so great! Also I noticed a lot of deals that were back in stock and some great discounts. And the best thing of all, the Manager Carmen came back!!! So happy to have them working the store again. Without them I just don't know how that store would function. I'm so grateful that a lot has improved this is great! Definitely a huge recommend! As a regular of the Palo Alto Grocery Outlet, I'm struck by how much bigger and well-organized this place is. Inventory is similar but not always the same. Sometimes the same item will be available at both places but at different prices. More often, there will be a product (e.g. chocolate bars, ice cream) where this store has more varieties than the other store. Of course, there will always be random things that are unique to one store or the other. In broad terms, I would say that this store has a better frozen section, but the Palo Alto store has a better wine section. Neither store is particularly good for fresh produce; just go to a regular grocery store for that. Also, this store does not take Amex, which is different from Palo Alto. read more

I'll be the first to admit I totally prejudged this place long before I ever stepped foot inside. For years I would hear of the gourmet coffee or the bougey Whole Foods type stuff that could be found here but it fell on deaf ears. It dawned on me one day that GO is basically the Marshalls/TJ Maxx of grocery stores and finally decided to give it a chance. I was warned to check the dates on EVERYTHING and to be mindful of the risks I decide to take on these bargains. Okay, so it wasn't like the entire store was beyond its "best by" date, but there were a notable number of products inching pretty close to it. But hey, how often do we buy things and let it sit around at home? I figured it was more or less the same. To this day, I have yet to have something "bad". I was blown away by all the bargain finds!! The legends were true! There was a plethora of products you normally would get from Whole Foods sold here at a fraction of the cost! These even include skincare brands like Andalou, Alba, JASON and EO! In the refrigerated section, I've found Miyoko's, Sigi, Violife, an assortment of dairy alternative milks, protein drinks and kombucha! My brother and I both eat plant-based so finding brands like Meatless Farm, Gardein, and Beyond Meat is such a win. My favorite is the 2.5 lb bag of frozen "Chicken strips" (Crispy Tenders) by Gardein for $12! A regular bag of 255grams is usually about $4 at most stores, so finding this bulk size is amazing! Although the inventory is hit or miss, it's good to know there is enough rotating through here to keep shopping pretty exciting to say the least. The employees here are not what I expected either. Discount places like Walmart don't exactly have the best service, or employees who seem to know/care about their store or products. I consistently have found the employees at the Fremont and Sunnyvale location to have excited and friendly employees who are ready to help. Even though the inventory isn't always the same, they seem to know what comes in and what a likely substitute would be for items they might now have at the moment. On the topic of Covid-19, both locations have a cleaning station complete with wipes and sprays for you to disinfect whatever you need. There was a location I visited that also provided masks and gloves at one point too! That's the most I've ever seen for any of the grocery stores I've been to! This place seriously is amazing!! This location doesn't have as wide of a selection as the Sunnyvale location on Tasman, but it's still a decent location. I had to deduct two stars because apparently there is no public restroom. I sent the following email to management: I visited your grocery store today, Jan. 31. I shopped for two hours and checked out around 5 p.m. I bought quite a few groceries ($180.) It would be great if paying customers could use your restrooms, but I was told by one of the cashiers that I couldn't. My cashier wanted to let me use it, but her colleague refused. I have a medical condition, and this is pretty discriminatory. I encourage you to open your restrooms to customers. It's incredibly ableist to not let customers use them. I spent a good deal of time and money at Grocery Outlet today, and other Grocery Outlet locations have public restrooms so I know this isn't a company-wide policy. Place was good. Same as any store. The neighborhood is ghetto. So it is not the store's fault. Very rude people shop there. I am an immigrant and English is my second language, but for Pete's sakes, be polite. You live here and communicate enough to make a living. A lady cut in front of me and almost run me over with her cart and she didn't even say "sorry" turned around and looked at me and seemed upset. Apparently this store accepts exact amount for cash payment. This lady tried paying her $3.77 grocery total with a $5 bill and the cashier refused to accept it. He stated that he didn't have change. I called the store later that evening & spoke to store manager name Kyle. According to the store manger, they accept cash. If that's the case, they should be prepared to tender change. Honestly, it seem like the cashier was just giving the customer a hard time. He could of easily asked another cashier for change or something. It was a very uncomfortable feeling for everyone to see him turn the customer away...especially since it was an elderly woman. This is probably one of the better Grocery Outlets I've been to. The parking lot is nice and big so no problems there. The produce section is decent though often not stocked or very sold out. The leftovers always look like they're rotting and it's kinda gross so I wish they would just throw them out. The deals can be pretty good on some stuff. For example, today I got a bunch of radishes for only $0.79! There are also ALWAYS deals on granola bars, protein bars, Whole Foods-esque snacks and drinks. Once I got a 24 pack of Chewy bars for $0.48 or something? There's also a SUPER discount area in the back near the refrigerated meats and cheese in the corner. However if near expiration or expired/past best by date foods bother you I would probably avoid Grocery Outlet completely. Most of the super cheap stuff I've found is really close to expiration or past, but it's definitely still edible and I've never had issues. Grocery Outlet also carries a ton of different supplement powders, protein powders, preworkout (I've seen C4), protein bars, etc for great prices, sometimes with great discounts! I would definitely check them out if you're looking for that. They also carry mochi ice cream, different types of healthy/unique ice creams, cheesecake, frozen meats and meals, pies... basically a whole bunch of different type of stuff. Also a lot of alcohol and chocolates. I always try to come here first when I go grocery shopping and get what I want, and then go to Costco/TJ's/Whole Foods/Safeway to get the stuff Grocery Outlet doesn't have in stock. My only gripe is that the home goods/vitamins area of this store is always a mess and I rarely see anyone cleaning it up or neatening the area. My kid is a disabled, and we were trying to use the restroom while my wife was shopping at the store. Since the restroom is locked, we asked the staff if they my kid can use the restroom. However, the staff said the restroom is not open, and they gave us a look that is not welcoming. Seriously??? I am pretty sure if I were a white and my kid were not disabled they would open the door. I went shopping here today everything was meh. No real enforcement of social distancing unless it came to me. I was doing my best to stay away from people yet people were crowding around me and I'm trying to get away. The cashier Jamie told me to step away. Then when I said then tell these random people to stay away from me. She said oh I know them they are fine. So if you are friends of Jamie I guess you get a pass on breaking social distancing rules. I was singled out for trying to get away from the crowd. Do yourself a favor and do not come here. This place doesn't take things seriously also they charge for bags when they want to and when they don't.
