UPDATE 3/19/2026: At this point, it's clear the issue isn't effort--it's ownership. Simply moving products around is not an improvement when the same fundamental problems are being ignored. The store remains understocked, with empty shelves, expired items still on display, and far too many products missing price tags. These are basic retail standards, and they're consistently not being met. The exterior reflects the same lack of attention. The parking lot is often littered with garbage, and the pallet area along the side of the building is cluttered and in poor condition. First impressions matter, and this one isn't good. To be clear, the employees are not the problem--they are consistently helpful and hardworking. This falls squarely on ownership and management decisions. Compared to other Grocery Outlet locations, this store continues to fall short. What's needed here isn't another rearrangement--it's real leadership, accountability, and a commitment to doing the basics right. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Grocery Outlet location has had four owner-operators in just under eight years, and the difference in management shows. It once felt like a treasure hunt for great bargains, but now it feels neglected. I have repeatedly found expired products on the shelves, especially in the meat department, which is concerning and unacceptable. The parking lot is frequently dirty, and many items are missing price tags altogether. When checking out, customers should carefully watch how items ring up. This is no reflection on the cashiers -- they are doing their jobs. However, pricing errors do occur, and management does not consistently honor shelf pricing when mistakes are on the store's end. The first two operators clearly cared about quality and customer experience. The last two, including the current owner, have allowed standards to slip significantly. I used to enjoy shopping here, but I will now be doing more of my shopping in Longview and using this location only when absolutely necessary. It seems our Grocery Outlet has slipped a bit since new ownership. I noticed the beer and wine selection was all but gone but when I went to pick up some corn on the cob and a couple of steaks I had to pivot while making dinner. When I opened the corn after only a day in the frig it was moldy and alot of liquid sitting in the trays the ears of corn were in. The ribeye steak was ok but the tenderloin wasn't what you would expect. I hope they get it together, that was the best Grocery Outlet in this part of the world. It no longer is. read more

The people here are so nice. Honestly the best cashiers around. The prices can sometimes be wrong so just watch the register, I don't have that problem at the Longview location. But I still like coming here in spite of that. They also have clean and open restrooms. read more

Grocery Outlet Rainier is open! It's seriously a great store with amazing deals! The manager is really a great community oriented person. He believes in buying local and giving back to the community. The manager stated the products will be numerous and he's happy to stock what people want. If your doing your daily shopping or passing through there's no doubt you'll find what you need. read more

Recycling cans and bottles is a nightmare. The owners seem to make it a frustrating process to dissuade people from recycling because there isn't a profit in it. You have to make an appointment on their Facebook with a link that doesn't work. Terrible that this has been going on for so long. read more

Worse every customer service regarding price tag on items (a lot of items have a missing tag or misplaced; it's fills that have been done on purpose to miss lid the customers). People have to pay higher prices at the casher stand, but the price tags on the shelf will show lower price. Keep your attention to casher stands monitors and your recipes! I could not be more disappointed in this small community grocery store. I sit on a Main St Merchants board and was super excited to see Grocery Outlet coming to our family oriented community. I no longer feel this way. My husband cones into this store almost every single day - Las night he went in the day before payday with $6 worth of cans - He just wanted to get some bread for dinner to feed our family - Although we are both Oregon Natives we did move for a brief time out of state and my husband has not changed his DL back to Oregon yet - He does however have his Car Registration that is in Oregon and it matches his name on his DL - I am explaining this because when my husband went to return the cans he was turned away for not having an Oregon DL. Since all he really NEEDED was $1 for bread he asked if he could just turn in 10 cans - He was told NO - My son who is 17 and attends Rainier HS and has signed with the Marines IN OREGON was also sent away. The manager of the store advised me this was a state law - I spent 2 hrs last night reading the law regarding bottle return in Oregon and NOWHERE does it say you are required to show an ID. I am disgusted that an owner of a Grocery Store in a family oriented community would allow this to happen! I personally spoke with the manager and advised we had receipts from being in the store almost every day and was told unless I had the receipt that those cans were purchased on she would not accept it. She would not accept anything BUT a DL. 2 Issues with this store policy (as it is a store policy and not a state law) 1. Kids take back cans all the time - Are you turning away children the same way you did my son? 2. People who live out of state visit our state and buy soda - How can you validate charging them the deposit and refusing to allow them to rtn them To make matters worse - There was a very nice man who bought all my husbands cans in the parking lot after he heard him telling me over the phone what happened. My husband walked back in the store and bought the bread and a wine cooler - He was NOT carded for the Wine Cooler - However was not able to rtn 10 cans to get the rest of dinner. Now to the crux of the whole situation - You sent a man away for doing nothing than trying to feed his family and you should be ashamed of yourselves and this business - I will never spend another dine in this store - I work in Vancouver - I have other options - I always CHOSE to support my local community. I will no longer support this business and I will be posting this review on every site I can find. DO BETTER!!!! read more

We are very pleased with grocery outlet, most people here complaining about can return must understand that many people from Washington bring cans that they get in Washington and pay no deposit and return them here to get a deposit they never paid. I too dislike the system but what else can be done? Some things in life simply aren't fair and that's life. Worst ever customer service regarding bottle return. I could almost deal with having to stack my bottles in crates, sorted and then call the store and wait for someone to come count them. Today, I arrive to run the gauntlet and there is already someone ahead of me so I get my bottles ready and make my call only to be informed they only come out every half hour so I have 20 mon to wait. I am a loyal customer not some roadside collector, bottles are clean as am I, bad way to treat customers who purchased the offending items here in the first place. Very disrespectful, I will reconsider purchasing here in the future as returns are not my responsibility, but theirs as a grocery store. read more

I live in Rainier and was happy when they leveled the eyesore building and replaced it with a Grocery Outlet. However the owner and employees are not very friendly. I've never been greeted with a hello or a how are you? Finding everything ok? I've even tried smiling at them and I get nothing. Anytime I shop anywhere else, Fred Meyer, Winco, Petco to name a few, I've received friendly service. Guess I will continue to take my business elsewhere. read more

I'm so happy to have this store in our town. I do approximately 90% of my shopping here and couldn't be more pleased with the variety, quality and price of merchandise available. I love the fresh produce department. Every time I go in there is someone going through it to assure only the freshest produce is available. Also thank you for having local products. read more

Thank God we have Grocery Outlet in Rainier. The store is usually well stocked, organized and displayed nicely. I only wish they would have some more "sugar free options" for those of us that cannot have sugar in our diets. When they do get sugar free items in someone snaps them up before I have an opportunity to come in. (Maybe order in larger quantities?) read more

Love to shop at Grocery Outlet before heading to Winco. Pretty good deals, I normally spend about $150 a week here and save almost the equal amount. I agree with previous posts about can returns, waiting 30 minutes is ridiculous but I heard you might have the self feeding can return system now? I sure hope so! That would be awesome. I have always had excellent customer service here so not sure why negative reviews for that. Yes the stockers are not as friendly as the cashiers but I just tell myself they are in a work zone. When I've asked for their help, they have always been very helpful. The cashiers are always very friendly with us. Only downfall here is sometimes it is very hard to find prices and I have been overcharged multiple times until they look the item up and see it was rang up as another price. Love the store though. If I didn't go there I would save even more though as I always buy snacks we don't truly need but they are such good deals I can't help it. read more

A great idea but unfortunately it's run by an immature manager who doesn't possess the skills to respond to something as simple as a bottle return. Not only that but the store lacks essential items and isn't cheaper than Winco where you can find everything you need. read more

Grocery Outlet is a very positive addition to Rainier!! They are friendly to our volunteers, and very helpful in giving a good price on products we need. The manager is great!!! He and his employees are very community involved and we feel very blessed to have them in the community. read more
