My go to location. Conveinent and free parking. Getting out of the lot back onto the main road if you're going left can be a hassle sometimes being honest but that is the only con. Staff are always nice and efficient. Store is clean and stocked. I always find great deals on plant based milk. Great ice cream choices and snack options. Even found cute Squishmallows for gifts here. This past visit I got lucky with some nice looking lamb chops. I never leave empty handed and always find amazing deals even on body wash! We thought that the Grocery Outlet would be the Ross of grocery stories. We were pleasantly surprised to see that it was not at all the case. From our arrival, we were greeted at the door by a very friendly cashier and employee. The store is clean, organized and orderly. Items are easily accessed throughout the store, which offers a little bit of everything you might need. It was nice to see the plethora of organic food options, fancy cheeses, and highly discounted non-perishables. I have been shopping at this Crown Hill location for years & have always had a good experience. Until today, I was being checked by this gray haired old caucasian in Line #1. She was throwing my groceries at me as I was bagging them myself. I had to ask her if she was Ok & made excuses such as "I can't hold them properly" mind you these are package of chicken, block of cheese & salsa. Management: You have got to retrain this person because she was so nice to the caucasian people who were in line before me & after me. I am Asian. Did she miss first day of orientation? If I'm not mistaken, part of her job is called "customer service". And maybe she needs to be told that your store serves ALL types of people, including Asians. Do the right thing. read more

Horrible Management! there are So many other Good stores around and better Grocery Outlet locations as well. I have experienced rude behavior from managers at this store. Also, good employees have left and the current ones seem to be unable to function effectively due to the fear of being fired or reprimanded! Many items on the shelf have No prices so it's a mystery until you get to the checkout line ...And there is Always a Line! Well I guess Grocery Outlet is not what it used to be! I just went shopping there and found prices are higher than Trader Joe's now! And some of the products have a crazy exaggerated Price for everywhere else on the price sticker! I just bought two bags of impossible, chicken nuggets and they were $7.49 each! Trader Joe's are only $6.99! I bought some of these mini kiwis at Trader Joe's for $2.99, golden berries for $3.99 at grocery outlet. And I don't know where they get $6.99, for the elsewhere price, I have bought them at metropolitan market the most expensive store in Seattle and they were only $4.99 for golden berries. I'm very disappointed and noticed that all their prices have skyrocketed! Used to be a good deal but not anymore! I guess they have to keep up with the new metropolitan market that just open next-door? I save so much money shopping here. It's way more fun than a regular store. There is always cool stuff to buy. Pet food section can be crazy good. I got $30 bags of freeze dried dog food for $10. Reds burritos? Got those for 99¢. Ritter sport bars for 99¢. Pocky up the yin yang. Plenty of gourmet shopping to be had. If you bbq their rub selection is off the chain and cheaper than Costco by a mile. Highly recommend this place. I'd shop here first then go to another store for things they don't have. read more

This used to be my favorite neighborhood grocery store and I have been shopping here for years. I know many of the employees by name. I love the item selection and friendly staff. That said, I have been extremely disappointed with the poor mask compliance by employees, which is ironic given the prominent sign at the entrance about how customers must properly wear masks to enter. One employee was wearing a mask that was like curtains--made of cloth and open on the bottom. Another was wearing a plastic chin contraption that was open on the top. Yet another employee was wearing just a plastic face shield, which is open on the top and bottom. Another employee (who I usually love!) will actively work checkout with their nose hanging out. I have been in the store when two or three of these folks are all working at the same time. This is completely inappropriate and totally dangerous during a pandemic and it makes me so sad because I love this place. Please, enforce proper mask-wearing. In fall 2022, this store became inexplicably dusty. Jars, cans, and bottles were restocked atop dust-coated shelving, and often those products had a layer of dust themselves. Price tags have become sporadic, or are for the wrong item altogether, so I've learned to check them carefully. Instead of using a stepladder, I've seen workers climb up on the edge of the meat and dairy case to reach the upper shelves, so their boots or street shoes hang over the refrigerated, packaged food items. And it is SO frustrating to shop for wine, since all the nice signage was removed! It used to be simple to find the variety I was looking for, but now it's barely worth the increased hassle. I realize prices everywhere have increased, but I'm noticing Grocery Outlet's prices for items can be double the regular price I paid at Fred Meyer - not always, but increasingly often. I'd been a longtime G.O. shopper, but find myself questioning whether it's worth stopping anymore. I've mentioned the dusty or dirty conditions to cashiers as I check out. One rolled their eyes at me and said "well, they're BOYS, they don't notice the dust". Another stated "oh, WE don't clean anything here, people come in at night to do it" while raising both hands and taking an actual step backwards from the cashier station. I've worked in a busy retail enviornment with all kinds of theft, so I know the tricks the staff will often use to deter shoplifters. Trust me, I get it. But yeah, I've been shopping here for 10 years. It's never been this weird, uncomfortable experience before, which is lame. If you're like me, or like a lot of us living in Seattle, you don't drive. You tend to lug all of your things around on public transit before heading home. That being said, if you have any brown grocery bags full of previous purchases, do not bring them with you unless you're comfortable with being searched. I was not comfortable with this, having someone touch my things, during a pandemic of all times. They will search your bags, they will read your receipts. I let them do it but still, now that I reflect on it, it's a bit weird. I don't recall seeing a sign that additional bags cannot be brought onto the premises, so I think the fact that they searched my bag at all was kinda ...illegal? I love shopping this store! Great deals on all kinds of things (especially high quality wines) and the cheese/meat section is perfect for making nice appetizer trays for gatherings. I can get most things on my shopping list here and the checkers are always friendly. The only thing that is difficult is kind of out of their control but the transient people around this are are pretty bad. I just try to go during the day and I feel bad for the owners and employees that they have to deal with this issue. read more

I was in the Seattle crown hill store today. I shop there regularly and usually enjoy it. Today was different as I did not see any of the CDC's guidelines or the governors regulations being followed. I thought I would let you know what I thought was missing. I am sure it is not easy for them but safety is so important lately. No PPE on employees to help keep them and us safe. NO wiping or cleaning of surfaces. NO sanitizer or hand wash station for employees or public NO one regulating the number of people that could enter the store at one time NO signage or person asking people to stay 6' apart. read more

I am not surprised at so many 1-star reviews abiut lack of masks. I went in today and left without purchasing because 3 for 3 none of the cashiers were wearing masks properly. I went back to my car and gifted and employee with a reasonable cloth mask. Later I called in and spoke to a manager (Brandi) about it. If Debbie and Matt can't wear masks, they should not be working front lines where they are at increased risk to themselves and being super spreaders of covid-19 infection in our community. I told the manager that I would love to come and shop if they had compliant hours where all employees would be wearing masks. She said this was based on when Debbie and Matt were scheduled and that all other employees always wear masks. That is NOT what I saw my last two visits: no mask or nose uncovered (which is the same as no mask). It's not worth it to go shop there only to have to turn around and walk back out without buying How can I ask another customer to put their mask on or allow me to give them one if the employees are not masking properly? I recognize that some people can't wear masks. Those folks should not be working retail and putting themselves and our community at elevated risk. Earlier this year, I always found myself passing by this grocery store on my way to Safeway a block down. I know that Grocery Outlet is supposed to be cheaper than your traditional grocery store, so I suggested to my friend that we go check it out. I was fully prepared to see generic brands I've never even heard of, or food that's right around the corner of their expiration date. To my surprise, they had tons of name brand stuff that I've been overpaying for at my normal grocery store. The best part about Grocery Outlet, is the random hidden gems you'll find there that you normally wouldn't see at your typical grocery store. Cotton Candy Captain Crunch, Ms. Fields baked cookies, etc. They always have the coolest snacks, and they rotate them often so it's always fun and exciting to see what's in stock at Grocery Outlet! Their prices are amazing, and they have the friendliest employees! Never once have I ever felt unwelcome. The manager Scott, is truly the nicest guy you'll ever meet. I always go in thinking I'm not gonna buy much, and then I end up finding a ton of cool snacks. Lol! Whenever Scott sees me struggling with my snacks, he always comes to the rescue with a handy basket. Him and the cashiers are always making friendly and fun conversations during checkout! The store isn't huge, so I never feel overwhelmed when I'm there. Going to Grocery Outlet doesn't feel like a chore like most grocery stores do. Parking is always easy to find as well. When I was last here I found Duraflame firelogs, fresh, not frozen beautiful seafood, garden bulbs, and lots of yummy food and beverage options. They literally had every kind of instant rice you could possibly want - coconut rice? Oh yes! So good!! The guy was restocking the aisle when I was looking through everything and was super friendly and helpful. Gross Out, let's make out because I LOVE you. I honestly love you. Beau and I buy organic products here that would cost 30-50% more almost anywhere else, soy/almond milk, occasional fresh fruit and veggies if they happen to be organic and energy/protein bars, which can be hit or miss but when you hit it's crazy-dancing-in-the streets cheap. There have been a few times when I bought produce that was less than fresh but I knew in my heart of hearts when I bought it, spied that brown edge to a lettuce leaf, that it wasn't the freshest prince in Bel-Air. Despite these grievous errors in judgement I can't stop loving this place. I send packages to the troops overseas and there are bargains galore on canned energy drinks (which those kids LOVE) popcorn, instant soup and occasionally jerky. Come here for a great bargain on non-perishable items! After picking up some groceries at Fred Meyer, I came across Grocery Outlet and decided to take a peek to compare prices. I wish I had come to G.O. first! At Fred Meyer I bought 14 oz of store brand beef broth for $.89. I went to G.O. and saw a 32 oz carton of Wolfgang Puck beef broth for $.99! There were also 14 oz cans for $.50 a piece. Cutie satsumas that I bought from Costco were $5.99, at G.O. they were $4.99. Even the Ninkasi beer that I usually get was $3.49 versus $4.99 at the regular grocery store. You really do SAVE A LOT shopping here, but you're not going to be able to find everything on your grocery list. Nevertheless, it's a great place to stock up on packaged items! read more

This place is awesome and wondered why there isn't anyplace like this where I'm from back east. It turns out there are some actually but not where I am so I hope they continue to expand. Really though this place has prices that beat Wal-mart. $1.49 for a naked drink?! $10 for value pack hot pockets?! The prices here are really good and have a decent amount of items, but can see it not being a one stop shop like a safeway or main chain supermarket.. We came here to pick up some basics and some cheap wine and this place was good as well as the cashier who checked us out. The store has a variety of goods including a nice selection of alcohol which normally where I'm from you have to go to a dedicated liquor store to see that amount. This place is amazing! Why more people don't go that often is a mystery to me. They have MEXICAN GLASS COCA-COLA for $0.99 here. In most places I see it at least $1.60+ reaching as high as $3.00 so this is a steal! So how Grocery Outlet works is that it orders supplies from manufacturers directly - usually overstock or if the company changed its packaging and had a surplus of it, Grocery Outlet buys it. As a result, Grocery Outlet does not accept manufacturer's coupons. But prices are so reasonable here that I don't really care. You can get V8 soup boxes (2 servings) for $0.99. I got boxes of baking soda for $0.69 each. There is a bag of 5.5 oz Chex Mix for like $0.80.... they have Biscoff cookies here (good ol' Delta), and they even have DUNKAROOS WHICH WERE THE LOVE OF MY CHILDHOOD. There is just so much cool stuff here that I could come here every week and be okay with it. They also have produce, meats, bath supplies, and liquor. I haven't tried these yet. But I saw that they have Aussie volumizing shampoo, and I never see that on sale in the outlets! Anyway great local store. read more

Even staff members got so close with out a mask that they physically brushed against me. Most uncomfortable experience I have had shopping. One man was coughing ON the food next to an employee and they didn't even say anything. The prices are good here, but not worth putting me and my family at risk. Things I like about Grocery Outlet - It's a great place to buy dessert wines! They have some good wines that I know & like, at unbeatable prices. And while I was at the store, one of the employees who was stocking, told me that they have wine tastings at the store on a regular basis. You just have to friend them on facebook or twitter. I definitely want to check that out. What I don't like about Grocery Outlet. They do not seem to have the high quality of food that I am used to, especially for the perishables. Good selection of personal products, organics, cheese, snacks, free-range eggs, and let's not forget the fifth star itself: my favorite wine!!! Good items to get here are: cheese, some produce like green onions, onions, cilantro, peppers, meat You can't go in and get everything on your list, but you can certainly put a dent in it and get some good quality items at a good price. If organic is a priority, there are some options but you might not be able to get every item you want. I just bought organic, local-ish boneless, rib eye steaks individually vacuum sealed for $9/lb (!) I cooked them up last night and they were superb. Some items here are not a good price but if you grocery shop enough, you can spot the deals and those that are normal price or even too high. Keep an eye on the expiration dates. The Grocery Outlet...my best friend calls this establishment "The Used Food Store". Recently, I bought some "Waggin' Train Wholesome Duck Jerky Tenders ~ Duck Dog Treats" at this Grocery Outlet on Crown Hill. I know...I've never heard of a "Duck Dog", either. But, that's how the label reads...and it reads "It's what nature intended". Also, they write..."Feel confident that you are giving your dog a wholesome treat that is both healthy and delicious." It does not describe them as "safe" Before purchasing this Waggin' Train product, I read the ingredients and there were only three! "Duck Breast, Natural Glycerin, Natural Flavor." Even though, I usually only buy dog treats from Crown Hill Pet...a Mom and Pop Pet Food Store that is just down the road...I decided to give these a try. When I got home, my female Labrador Retriever was "all over" the arrival of new treats. She's a nose with legs! I gave her one and put the others in the refrigerator. When I awoke the next morning, I discovered she had vomited, and crapped, all over the rug. (Why is it ALWAYS on the rug?) Then, she had diarrhea numerous times during the day. Her nose was dry, as a dog's is when it is not well. Fortunately, she's okay now. Waggin Train's "Jerky Tender" treats. Then, I went to the Crown Hill Grocery Outlet. I found the manager and told her what I had learned and what had happened to my dog. This woman is the ineffectual middle management robot personified. Her response was...before I even finished.... "We can't do anything about it until it comes down from corporate." She expressed no concern for my dog...did not ask if she was okay...did not care to go over and see to which dog treats I were referring. NOTHING. She only blurted out the corporate line of policy. A perfect display of asinine behavior. As I walked away in disgust, she chided me for not listening to more of her rationale, and excuses, for her decision to do nothing. AMAZING! To say the least, she definitely needs to refine her Customer Service skills. (And grow a HEART!) So. Here was an opportunity for her to alert "corporate" to a potentially huge problem...a warning from The Front Lines to those who COULD make a decision. It was an opportunity to remove a product that was potentially harmful and to find out what was going on. She was not willing to make this effort and to protect other dogs from experiencing what mine had to endure. She didn't care to take any action at all. I sincerely hope no other dog gets sick because of her inept management and lack of a conscience. Will I shop there again? Never! The big G.O. in all its glory. I didn't know about these places until I moved to Ballard. Perhaps it is because of my new found poverty or that on this side of town coming here is a right of passage. Friends were adamant that Grocery Outlet was a definite stop. It was a little overwhelming at first. Large warehouse style building, filled with food and home supplies. The sticker prices are amazing. Finding anything cheap in Seattle is an adventure. The first time here, I spent $40 and filled the cabinets for about 2 weeks! However, that didn't include fresh veggies. Yeah, the downfall to places like this is that you really need to watch the perishables like vegetables, fruit, meat and dairy. I just skip over them and don't risk it. But the pantry staples are a great choice on a budget and in a city where eating out is about the same price as cooking a meal at home. Also, do not come here expecting to find specific items. I wish someone had told me that one before I came here. You will find the basics, like canned fruit, veggies, rice, pasta, chips but you might not find mayonnaise or breadcrumbs. It depends on their shipments. So if you like it, buy it. I shop at this Grocery Outlet (aka Gross Out) on the regular. When my midwestern mom came to visit me, she thought this store was the greatest invention since cream of mushroom soup. Here are some good ideas for things to buy! Bargain wine (the selection is like 1/4 of the store), health and beauty items like fancy anti-aging stuff that costs more than liquid gold or oil at the drugstore, organic pantry items like bulk figgy newtons, milk if you plan to drink milk really soon, laundry stuff, lots of candy such as 2 lb bags of Jelly Belly Flops, and items you have seen sold on TV. Here are some things not to buy: whatever you're not comfortable with, though honestly, I have eaten both their produce and their meat and have not died. The thing that really makes this store exceptional are the AWESOME staff and cashiers. In several months of grossing out I have never failed to have a friendly, chipper conversation with these folks.
