I was getting a few things from Grocery Outlet at the checkout I asked for paper instead of plastic bag, normally I bring my own, as I grab my bag by the handle the handle rips off the bag and the bag comes apart, the checked asked if I wanted a plastic bag... NO I ASKED FOR PAPER AND WHY ARE THE PAPER BAGS SO FLIMSY! And what happened to the no plastic bags? Do they make the paper bags flimsy so we use the plastic bags instead? I used to shop here whenever I was in Sonora. It has been awhile and when I entered the store I immediately knew the ownership had changed. The store is not as tidy, the prices were outrageously high, and selection had dwindled. I'll still pop in from time to time, but it was a BIG disappointment to me today. read more

Used to be my favorite grocery store in town until it switched owners awhile back and quickly everything became double the price. Most things are close to expiration and the small price difference doesn't justify the purchase. On the positive side the employees are great. read more

The customer service in this grocery outlet is fantastic. However, the prices are just as high as the regular grocery store. I often go to the grocery outlet in Oakdale or Lodi and the prices are actually bargain deals this one it is not a bargain. I may as well go to Safeway and even though it is clean, it's not a deal so I won't be back. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. I wouldn't come to the store, unless you like expired food, and being accused of being a shoplifter. I typically don't go to the store and the one time that I do and I was slowly browsing, isles, having my phone up also price checking with Walmart to make sure I'm getting the best deal and I have two men approach me and accuse me a shoplifting. I then immediately offered to show them my purse, which I did, and they saw there was nothing there. That is when they walked away and couldn't even apologize. All I was doing was browsing aisles price checking on my phone, and looking at recipes on my phone. I am so baffled that they could come up and harass someone without having the facts straight. You would think they would look at the cameras more closely before accusing someone of something so terrible! read more

I like the products and prices but the management does not care about their employees or customers. There are high risk medical people in the store and management allows their staff to not adhere to COVID precautions. Two older white male employees did NOT have masks on. I believe one was a manager because he appeared to be directing staff and customers. A customer asked him why he didn't have a mask on and he said he was not worried about it and that he was six feet away from people. That was not the truth because he was behind the counter next to the other employees. Apparently the employees are not people to him. It does not hurt to wear a cloth mask; however, dying of COVID is an excruciating and lonely death. Be respectful & wear a mask. read more

This is a nice sized store that's been around for a long time! Their selection has improved in recent years and it really is a nice spot to stop when out grocery shopping. They've got wine, cheese, canned goods, boxed goods, fresh produce, a small dairy section, lots of frozen items, and even a home food section with some good name brand items at drastically lower prices than other markets! The only problem that I can see if the supply can sometimes change and what they get varies; meaning if you find something and fall in love with it, you'll have to cross your fingers that it'll be there the next time! I friggin' love me some Gros-Out!! I come here about every other week for shopping; I find the best organic/sustainable stuff!! From food items like granola bars and frozen veggies, to bath and home products like shampoo and laundry detergent. This place makes it SO much easier and cheaper to live green! I nearly always save at least 50% off regular price, and no coupon clipping! read more

Check the expiration dates, because so much of their food is past the expiration date. They also mess up on their signage - and it's always in their favor. For example, the sign will say $1.99, but then you're charged $3.99 at the register. So you go back to check it out, and sure enough, the item *next* to it was $1.99, with no price showing for the more expensive item. This has happened to me so many times, it cannot just be a coincidence. I like other Grocery Outlets, but this one is not run well. Worse, the staff is rude. read more

Good ol' gross out! This is one of the best grocery experiences in Tuolumne County! Good quality food, even organics. It's clean and well organized. And if you like to people watch, this is the place! And it's true, it is like a treasure hunt. But if you find something you really like, buy a lot of it because it probably won't be there when you go back for more. I think they have a better selection than Safeway for sure. I save so much money shopping here. I shop here first and then if there is something I can't find, it's on to PriceCo. read more

I stop here a lot, but only you need to watch the expiration dates closely. I have found some great deal, but you need to get them while they are there, for you can return and they are gone! Sign up on the website and you do get an idea of what is coming into stock. A couple of times, my veggies spoiled quickly and the fruit sometimes had fruit flies. This is my favorite place to buy groceries in Sonora!! The owner is really nice and supports the local FFA. Great at keeping certain products in stock....but not all. Rarely do you ever find and outdated products. They're always happy to take your returns, if for whatever reason it didn't suit your needs or likes. The best bargains on organic products, too. I love this store but check your expiration dates closely, especially sale items. I wish this store was more like the Jackson store. Jackson is well kept, spotlessly clean, and well stocked and front faced. Their organic section is huge and items are not close to expiration. Sonora management needs to pay Jackson a visit to see first hand how a great store is run. read more

A lot of items are expired. Sadly, they are still on the shelves. Encountered some rude employees here as well. Particularly a guy who was bagging/collecting carts who slammed my groceries, therefor ripping the "strong" paper bags provided. His replies were demeaning & he just looked disgusted to help bag our items. Customer service needs improvement. I have faith this place will turn around, it starts with management. I think you'd be Better off paying a couple dollars more at Safeway. Save your time, go elsewhere! read more

Do you like treasure hunts? Going to grocery outlet is a little like that. You will find a lot of unique items here and amazing bargains. A few weeks ago I got Scharfenbergers chocolate for less than half price! My friends and family are looking forward to the Christmas cookies the chocolate will be going into very soon. When I see a bargain on something I use a lot I try to stock up because you never know what will be there the next time you shop. they get a lot of name brands as well as regional and store brands. Some of the prices on items like laundry soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. beat even the big megalomart store down the road - you know the one I mean. The produce section has most basic things people use. They don't carry fresh fish, poultry or meat, but have a selection in the frozen food aisles. So, keep an open mind when you shop here because like Forrest says, "you never know what you're gonna get". read more

I am a grocery outlet junkie I have wrote a review about the one closer to me but I go to this one when I visit family. They are all awesome. Rosemary has made a perfect review so since she has covered it I am going to make up a bunch of stuff of how I like to lay in their freezers full of bargains and roll around laughing gleefully. I run to the aisle with the soaps smelling them for hours and rubbing them against my cheeks. I also marvel over the cheeses and on thursdays will stand next to the section and say "say cheese" whenever someone buys cheese. On tuesdays I like to run down the ice cream aisle and scream "we all scream ice cream" in a fuzzy bunny suit. So go to grocery outlet and fill your cart with happy loving food. read more

The prices are a bit cheaper than other establishments such as Wal Mart and Safeway, but there are other small pieces of the store that you can only really notice if you look through the BS. The floors are never buffed, as well as the floors are mopped but there are never any signs up. Their staff never has any smiles on their faces, they're never happy. In fact, I remember a chapping young man named Scott that helped me bring groceries to my car. Unfortunately I've been informed that he has been let go due to false accusations. On another note, a cashier actually ridiculed me for being active duty military, using terms such as "murderer, baby killer" and others that shouldn't be said in general. I've gotten multiple flat sodas, and stale chips. All in all, it seems to be dirty and untaken care of. I recommend going to bigger, more known stores such as Safeway or Walmart. read more

We were coming back from Murphys and stopped at the Sonora store and we were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the store was, how neat and clean it was, and we found some items there that we did not have in our local store. read more

You never know what this place will be out of stock of, Sometimes they are out of loafs of bread, sometimes there out of gram crackers, but they are very cheap. However The stores ratio is constantly at a loud pitch. And There crowded most of the time. read more

Some great deals on organic items, but buyer beware! They are selling an 18 pack of medium sized organic eggs for the same price you get a dozen Large organic eggs. Not really a deal at all. Some of the other items are also cheaper in price but a much smaller package. Do the math! read more

We live across the street from GO, and are in there quite often. You can get some excellent bargains in there - we buy most of our wine there, for example, they always have good end of the line stuff at very reasonable prices. A lot of their other stuff is good quality as well, and, as one of the other reviewers mentioned, the place does have the atmosphere of a treasure hunt about it. Seldom the same stuff two visits in a row, so buy it while you can! The store has recently been remodeled, and has much better quality fruit, veg and cheese than it used to. read more
