Normally I'd give Grocery Outlet 5 stars. We love the variety and diverse products at such great prices! Some items are normal priced while other items are marked down. Definitely check for expiration dates. The cashiers are nice and friendly. However, today's interaction with a white haired, older/middle aged woman, who I assume is the store manager, was extremely rude. Someone in our group picked up a Naked Juice smoothie which was marked down to under $2 but rang up around $8. We noticed this at the end when we got the receipt. So we showed a photo to the manager who came up to the register and she even said another customer had said the same. She proceeded to run to the back to pickup a smaller size that was the marked down price. She was telling us in a very defensive manner that this was the $2 bottle. But isn't this misleading when the tags in front say the lower amount? We had a photo to show for it. She made us (the customer) feel like we were in the wrong and somehow made us feel guilty and bad. Go back and fix the tags so you don't mislead other customers. This also would not have been a big deal if she said oh sorry we will fix this. We aren't the first customers who this happened to. Also I would not want to work there and work for her if that's how she treats customers.

Where Peeble's entrance was, is now Grocery Outlet. Bring your bags, or you can buy theirs.

Fantastic "hidden gem" only because from the name and conversion from department store space you might not expect a full grocery store with produce, dairy, every type of staple, AND specialty items including organic and gluten-free packaged goods AND FROZEN food at notable discount to the area supermarkets. It's also a manageable size to walk around and cross almost everything off your list in one place. Hours are consistent and open everyday I think holidays as well so for me the vibe for this place is selection, great pricing, reliability. It took me so long to go in to explore thinking it was weird overstock, don't make that mistake! For fans of Trader's Joes this may be the closest thing at the beaches, just with a gazillion brands rather than private labels.

It's quite fun, and while this year it was unusually freezing (I saw frozen sea foam), it was sunny and bright. While Lion was defrosting himself we decided to check out the local thrift scene...only to discover that most of the local thrift scene is closed on Sundays. Understandably, it's a beach town in winter. Unfinished Business was open so we headed there. The store is a little obscured from DE Route 1, there's a Panera Bread in front of their building and part of the building is a self storage company so unless you turn on the side street you will be looking at the next shopping center over and not finding it. It's like a treasure hunt for treasure. It's not a large store, however it was clean and what they had was reasonably well displayed, in the style of a retail store. They had some lovely clothing and housewares, at reasonable, but not bargain, prices. I did find a fantastic oversized fisherman style wool sweater, the kind you really need to wear a long sleeve shirt under 'cause it's kinda itchy but divinely warm, and a few knick nacks. Sheba found some clothes and a cool mug. The staff were friendly, though they mostly left us to do our browsing. Parking is easy, there's a large free private lot out front. This is a nice place for someone on vacation, or maybe outfitting a beach house, to pick things up, benefits some local charities, however it's not a stop for the thrift or bargain hunter.

The place is well laid out, clean, nicely displayed and has a variety of items. Prices on the high…read moreside for a thrift shop.

Incredibly disappointed in this store after today. I love dollar tree and have been to this…read morelocation many times without issue. However, my mother has vision issues. It's a sensitive topic as this is a medical diagnosis, there is no cure and the disease progresses as she ages. She is still young appearing, but the diagnosis does affect her ability to see distances. The balloons are in an awkward location, off to the side of the registers and up high. My mother went in to purchase balloons for a birthday and patiently waited in line. She was able to point and say "I'd like the purple flower, second from the left on the top row" the employee stated "what's the number?" My mom then told her, "I'm sorry, I have low vision. I can't make out the number. It's the purple flower" and the employee snapped back, saying "you can't read or something? Don't you have glasses!?" The employee's sharp attitude garnered the attention of other guests in the store, prompting another customer to ask if everything was okay. The employee then yelled at the customer checking in, saying "we only have 2 employees in the store! If you don't like it, leave!" My mom was able to get her balloons after another customer helped her read the number she needed. Again, nobody had any problems waiting for balloons. Everyone was patiently waiting in line. My mother has a disability, she cannot see well. Frankly, she shouldn't have to disclose her medical diagnosis to the cashier of the store. She politely pointed to the balloon and described the location and type she wanted.... the lack of compassion and general lack of customer service was very upsetting. My mother left the store in tears, completely embarrassed. I work in retail too. Almost everywhere is short staffed, I get it. Some days are really difficult. But singling someone out because of their medical condition and yelling at customers is wildly inappropriate. I know it's "just the dollar store," but kindness and understanding of those with disabilities is just basic human decency.

I was not a fan of this thrift store…read more 1) The merchandise was not great, variety or pricing. The shoes had prices on the bottom, but dresses and other clothing did not have price tags just barbs. I didn't see any signs detailing item prices so to not have clothing priced was frustrating as a customer. The housewares were all price marked. Shoes were marked as well, but in my opinion, they were high for a thrift store. 2) They literally turned the lights out on us to get us to leave. It was literally 6:03 (they closed at 6) and instead of letting us know they were officially closed, they turned the lights off on us and locked us in. What kind of business does that? Very ignorant way of doing business. And then the girl watched us struggle to unlock the door and had the nerve to say Have a good night as we left. Really? I will never return to a place that treats potential customers like that!

However last times we went there, the woman was very rude. Firstly she started throwing shirts I'd donated on the floor in front of my husband although they were in prime condition. then she wrote a description of what we donated calling it a "small bag of clothing". The bag was monster sized - I could barely lift it. also they stopped having senior discount on Tuesdays, and were very terse when I asked about it. And lastly they stopped dealing with books.
