Grooming Arts NW is what every groomer should strive to be. I have a little Maltese with severe separation anxiety, I've even had her start shaking as soon as we walked into other grooming shops, but she does great when I drop her off here. The low stress environment makes such a difference and I feel good knowing she isn't being overwhelmed by the noise of tons of dogs in kennels waiting their turn. Stephanie is our groomer and she is a true artist. She is the only groomer I've found in Portland who is trained in Asian Fusion grooming and has done a fantastic job with every cut. Getting it right definitely takes a lot of technical skill and she really has it! We were so lucky to have found her. When I pick her up she always looks gorgeous! I also love whatever shampoo they use, it leaves a very nice but gentle scent, nothing overwhelming or too perfumey. It costs a little more than some of the other shops but they are 100% worth it, not just for the amazing cut but also for the peace of mind knowing my dog is having a great experience. We are customers for life.

Northwest Grooming Arts is a special place. They do an amazing job with the cuts and care of my dogs. They even clean their teeth. The employees are so kind and reliable. So happy to have found them!

Grooming Arts does a great job. She likes her paws trimmed so she doesn't track mud into the house.

Our Labradoodle has been going here regularly for years. She doesn't like getting her haircut at all. But she has grown more comfortable due to the gentle pampering she receives during her regular grooming visits and always comes out looking like the princess she has become. Karu does a great job.

    Dog

I love my dog more than anything, and would do whatever I can to ensure he is well cared for. I feel privileged that I can afford to spend more money on a groomer- as this place is more expensive than any other I've taken my dog to. However, I want to say that the care and quality of this groomer is beyond anything I've ever experienced. The environment is calm and containing. The owner/ groomer I spoke with, who's name is Karu, is honest, caring, skilled and grounded. My dog was attended to the entire time he was there, and was not left in a kennel at any point. The dogs are separated by room, and get individual attention. My dog came back looking better than ever! He has the cutest haircut he has had in years, and is completely and totally de-matted. He is calm and happy, and seemed relaxed and well when I picked him up. For me, not knowing what happens to my dog at a groomer when I leave him means that I'm going to both do my research and be willing to spend more money if I can afford it for the peace of mind of knowing he is being treated with gentleness and care. Thank you so much Northwest Grooming Arts! So glad to have found you and be able to bring my pup in!

    Freshly groomed small poodle mix

I have a small street-dog poodle mix that is anxious in certain settings, which makes it difficult for me to take her into groomers and vets. The nice folks at Grooming Arts NW have been kind and make it easy as they possibly can. Gratuity is included, but I still normally bring a gift of some good coffee beans or something because I know my dog isn't easy.

We've been taking our doodles to Karu for nearly 18 months. He is very serious about his craft, and it shows. The grooming takes time, he cuts with care, and our dogs always come out looking exceptional. And because he's a doodle expert, he's been a huge help with sharing some of the finer points of doodle coat maintenance, especially since we've got a curly and a straight pup. Everyone remarks about how soft our dogs are. Some of that is nature, the rest is Karu. He's pricier than most groomers but the difference shows. If you've been to a dog park, you can't throw a tennis ball without hitting a doodle with a bad haircut. To keep them cute, comfortable, and mat-free, we'll stick with Karu.

I highly recommend Grooming Arts Northwest (formerly Canine Comfort) Alisha does a great job and it shows how much she loves what she does and how much care she takes with her doggie clients. My puppy even falls asleep under her gentle care while being groomed, that's how stress free he feels. Alisha is so sweet and such a pleasure, Coco just loves her, so glad you moved to Portland Alisha!

This is Cinnamon after his grooming apt. He loved it (as did his mommy)& looks awesome. Stylist Stephanie is awesome!

I brought Cinnamon, my 3.5 yr. old toy poodle, in for the first time last evening. Stylist Stephanie, waded through his thick undercoat and provided the most perfect poodle doo. She's got the magic touch! Both baby-dog & Mommy are quite pleased.

This is by far the best cut de-matting and blow out we have ever had!

We made our appointment with Karu, based on high reviews. Well he over met our expectations by far. He gave our scruffy doodle a high end poodle doodle cross over look. I highly recommend any and all doodle owners, go for this look our dog has never felt softer nor been fully mat free. If your a doodle owner I highly encourage you try this look at least once, nothing compares!

I'm so grateful that my breeder recommended this place. If you're not already a current customer, I highly recommend that you add your name to their wait list. It's so worth it! My labradoodle always looks show ready whenever he leaves, and he absolutely LOVES his groomer, Sue. She does the best job ever with his cut, better than any other groomers I've tried. Two of the photos are taken were after his groom and the other one was taken two weeks later and he still looks quite good even though he plays and gets dirty.

Brought in my mini goldendoodle after a few disappointing cuts elsewhere and will continue to come back to Karu.

We used Tails and Trails 3 times with mixed results. Important to know- you create detailed notes with the owner (Jeff) on how to access your building, routines, where leashes are, etc., etc., when you have your introductory visit. Our instructions ask that the handler only feeds the cats their canned food, nothing else. 1st time, week-long trip (June 2024)- handlers were 2+ hours late regularly. While this wasn't the biggest issue, we don't have a doggie door and that level of lateness pushed the pup's bathroom breaks longer than we're comfortable. But, we liked the service offered and adjusted how often we scheduled handler visits for the second and third visits. 2nd time, 1 week of walks while both of us were gone for longer than 8 hours (September 2024)- Great! Annie (I'm not disclosing employees' full names for their privacy) had no problems and was very helpful. 3rd time, overnight away- 4 visits requested: Sat afternoon and evening; Sun am and afternoon (October 2024)- Day 1- We left the house at 8 am and scheduled feeding/walk visits for about 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Around 1:25 pm, Chloe (office manager) texted me to ask if we had scheduled for 7:00 am that day. When we said we hadn't, a communication between Chloe and a handler led to the 1:00 pm visit being skipped. We talked with Chloe that evening and she said the handler would roll the afternoon and evening visits together, apologized for the miscommunication between herself and the handler, and credited our account for the mistake (all great). The handler arrived around 7:00 pm. They had a difficult time accessing the building so Chloe texted us to say the handler would hang out for a little longer before leaving if they couldn't get access. Once they did get into the building, they couldn't find the food or leash. The access information, food instructions, and where the leashes are were all in the instructions. The handler fed the pets and took the pup for a 15-min potty break. Since we were only gone for a night, we didn't book anyone to stay overnight. We considered cutting the trip short and wish we had. Day 2- Oscar was our handler. We got notifications that both visits were completed and everything seemed to have gone smoothly. When we got home, a glass jar with cat treats had been taken from the closed closet and left open on the counter. When we got home, there were treats all over the counter and SHATTERED GLASS MIXED WITH TREATS all over the floor. All three cats had engorged stomachs. While Chloe apologized and said she'd speak with Oscar the next day, we didn't hear back from Tails and Trails' manager or owner. We'll be anxiously monitoring our furbabies for a few more days.
