The Coconut Creek's Womens club has craft vendors selling a variety of items for holiday gift giving, police outreach, bounce houses, crafts, and children's activities, entertainment on the stage, photo opportunities, and food trucks. At night they had a huge blow up screen showing the FSU versus Notre Dame football game. Parking is always a pain when Coconut Creek holds a festival here and there are 3 good sized parking lots. They generally have a shuttle bus running from Monarch High School but I came later in the evening and they let me park on site. If you live in the surrounding Winston Park neighborhood you really luck out by being able to walk over. This festival is a great gathering point for the community of Coconut Creek. I don't think it's one of those type of events that draws a lot of people from outside of the community. The real fun of this event is that if you live here you are likely to bump into people you know so you can catch up with them. My friend in Parks and Recreation plans the events for the city so it was fun to run into her. I also saw some of my students who attend my school and other people I haven't seen in a while. This festival has a great hometown feel that reminds me why I love living in Coconut Creek so much.

There were less vendors than usual with white tents set up along the Plaza Real. There was a lot of free parking in the Mizner parking garage. It was very quiet, not the usual crowds this year.

The festival draws 40,000 to 60,000 art enthusiasts and buyers every year. It was rainy all weekend but the weather cleared just in time to enjoy a late Sunday afternoon at the fair. Parking is free in the Mizner Park Garage. Approximately 170 artists showcase their work every year, Art work was displayed and for sale in the mediums of ink, paint, ceramics, wood, metal, glass, jewelry, photography, and sculpture. The festival tents are set up along Plaza Real. Lining the streets are a number of shops and restaurants that you can visit while enjoying the art fair. Some of my favorite art this year were the wooden flowers, colorful glass, and kinetic pieces. There was so much to look at in this fun and free family friendly event.

The things we love about the Florida Renaissance Festival is you feel like you've been lifted out of this regular world into a whole new place and everybody makes that happen that works there. The beautiful ambience of the park the decor all around, the awesome artworks that people create, the costumes. The music is one of my all-time favorites. It's part of the reason why I come here every year. Also you can try so many different types of foods that's always so exciting. I love dressing up, wearing costumes and walking through the park talking with other like-minded people. We enjoyed so many shows this year from the Washing Well Winches, to the guy playing the Bells, all the different Irish bands, like Celtic mayhem, one of my favorites is the band from Italy Rota they are awesome especially when they play in the street and we can dance all around so fun. What an amazing event! It was like stepping back into time and into fairy tale stories! With the…read moremost unique thing being that not only the workers dress up and act but so do the people who attend. I saw medieval characters, gladiators & knights, pirates, fairies and nymphs, even a wizard! And of course with a costume contest. Quiet Waters Park was converted into a story book. Unique performances with music, comedy, drama, juggling dancing and with interaction like the Maypole. Also jousting and horsriding competitions and cannon & trebuchet firing.There was Archery, Axe throwing, a maze, sword fighting and instruction, cobbling, jewelry making. A variety of activities for kids as well as adults. Especially adults who want to be kids...like me! Lol Souvenir shops with items that you don't see every day, like a dragon egg candle that once melted reveals a baby dragon just like in Game of Thrones! Also good food and drinks throughout the park. I didn't think I would spend that much time here but I spent the entire day practically without even realizing time had passed! A great time to immerse yourself in a world of fantasy, merriment & amazement! I truly enjoyed everything here!

This was the 19th annual one, however, it is the last one they are hosting. A nice day to walk around and view the artist, plants, food, and speciality vendors with tents and tables to display their merchandise The pencil art was creative and something I have never seen before. I enjoyed listening and watching the bands and entertainment. There had different entertainment scheduled the following day. The local honey is always good to purchase. I also bought kettle corn since I missed it at the fair . There were food at tents and trucks to purchase. Parking was tough since can't park by the plaza but some people still parked there including me and walked down to the festival. I noticed others parked across street too. There was a trolley to take by City hall . The bathrooms were in restaurants nearby to use. All in all, it was a nice festival and sorry it will be the last.

Cancelled in 2020 and 2021, the Coral Springs Festival of the Art was back this past weekend in a…read morebig way to celebrate it's 17th year of bringing culture to the Coral Springs community. Coordinated by Shirley Richards who founded the event in 2005 and a 30-member executive committee, it is held in the parking lot of The Walk shopping plaza on University Drive. Since its inception, the event has grown to 30,000 visitors, 200 volunteers, and 175 artists and crafters. It is so large it takes up two streets. Since the parking at the shopping center is closed, festival goers are urged to park at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, located at 2855 Coral Springs Drive, and the City Hall Garage, located at 9500 W. Sample Road. The festival is held from 10 AM until 5PM. There is food from tents as well as the restaurants in the shopping plaza. There are two stages set up on each end with one featuring performances by Irish, Polynesian, and Peruvian acts, while the music stage held performances by jazz and country music artists, and a tribute to Tina Turner. Some of the many tents set up in the street held works by by fine artists for sale while others were vendors selling accessories, clothes, plants, and food. There was a great variety of things for people to purchase. This was my first year attending the festival and I didn't realize how big it had gotten. I will definitely come earlier next year to see more of the entertainment. I love that this festival is held right in my backyard. This is a great event for families and it is very dog friendly too!

It is about half the size of the one I recently attended in Delray Beach but it had a lot of the same vendors. You could purchase plants, accessories, pet items, soap, art, and all kinds of handmade goods. One of my students broke my heart necklace that I purchased at the last festival but of course with my luck that vendor wasn't here. Hopefully I will run into him on the circuit again. I did end up purchasing a small sea turtle bag because I need to carry assorted treats on me at all times for the students. Another item I really liked at this festival is the handmade tortilla warmers or microwave pot holders. You can put an item in it, microwave, and easily lift it out without getting burned. The holidays are getting closer so it's time to start stocking up on gifts. This is a great place to browse if you are in the area.

This is one of the most elaborate Christmas displays put together by a private home. For the…read moresecond year in a row, we enjoyed walking around and taking pictures of this delightfully decorated home. Over 170,000 lights framed the house and the decorations all over the yard. Many of them were mobile decorations, my favorite being the Christmas gift conveyor out of the Santa's workshop hut. Just ingenious and delightful. The family is very patient and very good with all people on their property. Some want to touch the moving train, the displays, the lights, and they politely say, please do not touch the displays. A great place to get into the Christmas spirit ! It's tough to find parking since this is a private residential neighborhood, but if you are willing to walk a few blocks, you should be able to find a parking space.

The band Reaxtion played old school songs and some new pop music, as well, allowing for many people to dance. There were many vendors with a variety of items to purchase. You could also find food trucks with Italian food and some other dishes to wet your palate . They had some blow up bounce type activities for kids to enjoy and play inside. There was also a game at no costs to play giving out a ball as a prize to each winner. At the end there was a trophy for best Italian food since it's meatball day ... A nice evening with many things for all ages to do.

Parking is limited at the Sportsplex but you can park in the warehouses next door and across the street. If you don't want to wait in long lines come early. Traffic was already backing up for the festival by 3:45. What was especially nice this year was the Sportsplex has a large new covered field with Astro Turf. They set up the stage with a country cover band, tables and chairs, and bleachers in this area. Other attractions at the festival included a few carnival rides, bounce house, haunted house, food trucks, pony rides, petting zoo, craft vendors. and contests for costumes, pumpkin carving, and scarecrow building. I spent the evening hanging out with my friend. We caught some of the concert and ate at the Pork O' Rican Food Truck and had Italian Ices. We shopped at the tents and I bought a light up Halloween decoration. We waited in line forever for the haunted house and laughed our heads off. Throughout the night I saw a lot of people I knew and many of the kids who go to my school. So fun to see everyone in costumes. At the end of the night the town officials announced that Margate is going to host the Broward County Fair this year. Awesome news and more great times to look forward to.

The Pompano Beach Seafood Festival was founded in 1984 by the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce and…read morethe Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo to support local charities in the Pompano Beach Area. It began as a two day off-shoot of the Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo. First held on East Atlantic Blvd. leading up to the beach it started off small but quickly grew. By 1989,the event grew to include concerts on the beach. In 1990 and 1991 it became a three day event separate from the Fishing Rodeo and moved to the last weekend of April when it has been held ever since. In the mid nineties national recording acts were added to the festival. Proceeds from the festival are used to benefit 12 local charities. The new pier and restaurants at the beach have driven the festival inland and it is now held at Community Park. I hate to knock an event that supports charity but this event is completely overpriced. They start draining your wallet before you even hit the door. They were charging $10 to park in the free park where the event was held! My tip is to park across the street at the dog park and walk over. I hesitate to even write that because next year they will catch on and charge there too. Once you hit the gate it is a $20 per adult entrance fee. I have been to many festivals throughout Florida, some even held for charity and this is the only one I know that charges an entrance fee. They spend a lot of time and money gating the event and then having people patrol it. Maybe instead of spending that money, donate that to charity and just let people in. If you are a single person you have just spend $30 before you even stepped inside. I can't imagine that makes people inclined to spend money at the merchandise and food vendors who are paying to be there. Also of note, the music talent was all local so they weren't paying for a national act. This event is pricing out the Pompano community in favor of only the wealthy. With gas prices and the economy what it is I can't fathom their thought process. I know many people who didn't go this year because of the jacked up prices. For instance Papa Hughie's Seafood World was one of the festival vendors. You can just save yourself $30 and get a good meal at the restaurant down the street. I wish they would consider going back to their roots and stage a more affordable festival.
