It is about half the size of the one I recently attended in Delray Beach but it had a lot of the same vendors. You could purchase plants, accessories, pet items, soap, art, and all kinds of handmade goods. One of my students broke my heart necklace that I purchased at the last festival but of course with my luck that vendor wasn't here. Hopefully I will run into him on the circuit again. I did end up purchasing a small sea turtle bag because I need to carry assorted treats on me at all times for the students. Another item I really liked at this festival is the handmade tortilla warmers or microwave pot holders. You can put an item in it, microwave, and easily lift it out without getting burned. The holidays are getting closer so it's time to start stocking up on gifts. This is a great place to browse if you are in the area.

St. Ambrose Carnival is the annual fund raising event for the St. Ambrose Catholic Church school in…read moreDeerfield Beach. This year was the 23rd year of the event. It is an extremely popular event in the community running from February 28th to March 3rd. The sell advance discount tickets up until February 27th. Rides are by Hildebrand Rides. The day of the carnival unlimited ride wristbandswere were sold for $30. It could get quite expensive especially if you have more than one child. They had a few rides for the small fry set. The other rides were the fast spinning, turn you upside down, and make you want to toss your cookies kind. Not my thing. The event has a wide variety of foods. Sausages, burgers, philly cheese steaks, pizza, and spaghetti are some of the entree items. They also had funnel cake and baked goods for dessert. Food tickets are $1.50 per ticket. Two burgers, a shared fries, and two soft drinks came to $21.00. Alcohol is a big thing here which I always find surprising since it's a church event. There is a full bar serving beer and mixed cocktails. They also offer bottles of alcohol in their spin the wheel booth. Other games of chance include raffles and bingo. The carnival has games as well. Live entertainment is on stage throughout the carnival. Acts are from the country, pop, and rock genres. On the Friday night I attended it was the Jack Flash classic rock band and the Emily Brooke band. Admission to the concerts is free. I used to bring my daughter and her friends to enjoy the rides when she was younger. Now she lives in Orlando and is a Universal pass holder. Now I mainly come to visit my friend who volunteers and to get dinner. The bands were entertaining this year and even though I don't go on the rides it's still fun to see them. The best part of the carnival is running into friends in the community.

I don't have children but I enjoy the happy carnival atmosphere. I don't know how the organizers manage to do this but the noise factor from the carnival is basically non-existent. What is now known as Deerfield Beach Pioneer Days was first celebrated in 1947 as Cracker Day in…read morePioneer Park. The Deerfield Beach Lions Club hosted a one day picnic with barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, and baked beans. It was held in the spring to celebrate the end of the vegetable growing season. As Deerfield Beach grew, the event was expanded over several days and featured a talent show and Miss Cracker contest. A group of citizens eventually took over and moved the event to the beach. In 2016, the City of Deerfield Beach took over running the event and renamed the festival, Pioneer Days. The 2024 Pioneer Days Festival is held on Saturday February 17th through Sunday February 18th. Parking can be difficult at the beach but you can park at the Cove Shopping Center and catch a free shuttle to the beach or walk. The event begins with a parade with the theme "Life's a Beach" at 10 AM on Saturday. At the beach there are arts and crafts, food, drinks, live entertainment, and kids activities. On Saturday night there are fireworks at the beach at 9 PM. Pioneer Days is Deerfield Beach's biggest celebration of the year.

Sidewalks are out because of a decorative paver sidewalk going in. There's plenty of vendors with something for everyone. Artwork, jewelry, yard art and other craft and gift ideas. All of the artists are in their booths and most are happy to tell you about their craft or handmade works. Don't forget to pay the meters. You can either use the pay by phone app or use one of the nearby meter stations. I got 2hrs for $1.05, not bad. Bring a hat and stay hydrated, it's hot out there folks. Tip for the day- be careful walking, there are sidewalks out, loose pavers and deep crevices along the street, one of which my foot found it's way into and was cut badly, to the point of needing paramedics...

This is the 6th annual Hawaiian Festival in Wilton Manors at Mickel Park. The event is sponsored by…read morethe Wilton Manors Leisure Services Department and Hālau Hula O Nā Liko A'o Puna which is a school of Hawaiian dance in Wilton Manors. There was not enough parking at Mickel Park so you had to leave your car off site at a Catholic church and then the leisure services department drove you over in a van. Normally I am not a fan of festivals where you can't park but transportation ran smoothly. I didn't have to wait coming or going. Admission is free to the festival and they had dancers from the school providing the entertainment. The dance school provided a small menu of traditional Hawaiian food and there was a Hawaiian food truck. There were a few vendors selling leis, jewelry, and clothing. Although the festival was small it was very nice. It ran from 3 to 7 PM and people were encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to sit on. It seemed like the purpose of the event was mainly a dance recital for the school but it was enjoyable to anyone who likes Hawaiian culture.

This was the 19th annual one, however, it is the last one they are hosting. A nice day to walk around and view the artist, plants, food, and speciality vendors with tents and tables to display their merchandise The pencil art was creative and something I have never seen before. I enjoyed listening and watching the bands and entertainment. There had different entertainment scheduled the following day. The local honey is always good to purchase. I also bought kettle corn since I missed it at the fair . There were food at tents and trucks to purchase. Parking was tough since can't park by the plaza but some people still parked there including me and walked down to the festival. I noticed others parked across street too. There was a trolley to take by City hall . The bathrooms were in restaurants nearby to use. All in all, it was a nice festival and sorry it will be the last.

Cancelled in 2020 and 2021, the Coral Springs Festival of the Art was back this past weekend in a…read morebig way to celebrate it's 17th year of bringing culture to the Coral Springs community. Coordinated by Shirley Richards who founded the event in 2005 and a 30-member executive committee, it is held in the parking lot of The Walk shopping plaza on University Drive. Since its inception, the event has grown to 30,000 visitors, 200 volunteers, and 175 artists and crafters. It is so large it takes up two streets. Since the parking at the shopping center is closed, festival goers are urged to park at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, located at 2855 Coral Springs Drive, and the City Hall Garage, located at 9500 W. Sample Road. The festival is held from 10 AM until 5PM. There is food from tents as well as the restaurants in the shopping plaza. There are two stages set up on each end with one featuring performances by Irish, Polynesian, and Peruvian acts, while the music stage held performances by jazz and country music artists, and a tribute to Tina Turner. Some of the many tents set up in the street held works by by fine artists for sale while others were vendors selling accessories, clothes, plants, and food. There was a great variety of things for people to purchase. This was my first year attending the festival and I didn't realize how big it had gotten. I will definitely come earlier next year to see more of the entertainment. I love that this festival is held right in my backyard. This is a great event for families and it is very dog friendly too!

The Art Stroll is an annual art fair formerly known as the Festival of the Arts. The event is…read morehosted by the City of Deerfield Beach and the Deerfield Beach Historical Society and Cultural Council. The festival is being held between 2nd and 4th streets along Ocean Ave on February 17th and 18th. It is next to the Deerfield Beach Pioneer Days Festival. Art Stroll features different tents set up selling paintings, photography, jewelry, sculptures, and mixed media art. A lot of the art is ocean themed which goes along perfectly with its beach side location. The most unique thing I saw was a woman's torso getting painted. There was also a tent for the Hillsboro Historical Society and Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society. The location is beautiful and the weather was perfect. Parking can be a bit tricky. The area closest to the beach is closed off. By the time I arrived the city beach garage was already full. If you don't mind a half mile walk you can park at Sullivan Park for free and walk the J.D. Butler Bridge over the Intracoastal to the beach. Once you get to the beach there is plenty of shopping, food, entertainment, and alcohol courtesy of a fundraiser for the Deerfield Beach Historical Society.
