Delightfully small and quirky corner coffee shop in downtown Collingswood. Look at the front of the shop. Now look to the right at all of the fire extinguishers and fire trucks. Now look up. That's where I used to live for many years. So yes I was a regular at Groove Ground for awhile. When I wasn't in the actual shop, I was up in my apartment using their free wifi. Stopped back in today while walking around town doing some Christmas shopping, and the place hasn't changed. Still tiny with a few natty armchairs and couches, still the eclectic mix of music records and other merchandise (a lot of it by local artists), still staffed by friendly employees. One change is that they used to be open until 10 or 11. Like most coffee shops in this area, they now close early. They're open 8 - 6 every day. It's not exactly a destination store. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for anything on the food or drinks menu, and for records and small handmade gifts, there are several other and better options in town. But I like that it's independent and supportive of the community, and it's still a nice place to stop in while in Collingswood doing other things. read more

I've been here twice so far and had a positive experience both times. I LOVE matcha, so I was intrigued when I saw the blueberry matcha tea. The employees were pleasant and even gave me options for non-dairy milk. I got my drink iced with oatmilk and it was absolutely delicious. They made it so quick that I was able to be in and out. Super cute local coffee shop. I'm sitting here as I write this review! Atmosphere: Modern chic and cozy at the same time. A few single couch chairs in clusters and then a few rows of tables with chairs as well. Along the side wall are shelves of cute little items ranging from candle holders to teapots and mugs to handmade jewelry and soaps. They have a small rack for male and female clothing, just a handful of garments. They also have a sale section for $1 CDs or discounted merchandise. Prices were super fair. Food & Drinks: They have an assortment of baked goods (cookies, muffins, scones, etc.) and lots of drinks on their menu. They are currently doing a Hot Cocoa thing where you can get a hole punch whenever you buy hot cocoa here. They have more flavors of hot cocoa than I've ever seen (peppermint, Mexican, S'mores, coconut, and so many more!) I got the S'mores hot cocoa and it was delicious! With delicious thick whipped cream and marshmallows. YUM! I got their Blueberry scone as well-that wasn't very good actually. It lacked sweetness and flavor in general. Very bland and flavorless. I don't recommend it. I should've gone for the lemon poundcake instead, maybe. FREE WIFI. I'm a fan because of the comfy couches and free wifi and drink options. I love Grooveground but something about the atmosphere feels very corporate and impersonal now. Maybe it's the signage around the coffeehouse? That being said, my chai tea was good. They don't use loose leaf tea which is odd for a coffeehouse. (I don't drink coffee so can't comment on that.) Besides coffee the menu boasts a wide array of sandwiches and dessert. I came to Grooveground looking for a place to study and a cold drink on a very hot day. Grooveground has a wonderful small town feel. It's located on a corner of a block filled with interesting restaurants. The coffee shop itself has a fine amount of tables and a cool wall full of jewelry, CD's, Coffee makers, and other things like a record player. I did not have trouble accessing an outlet, but there is not a whole lot of them so beware. I ordered the Wildberry Cold Frusion which to me tasted like a berry smoothie. It was very good especially on a hot day. The staff was very nice and they even have a weekday Student Discount (I believe it's 10% off so look out for that!). They have their menu on a TV screen which changes quite frequently so I largely relied on pictures I look of it. You can just pull up recent photos of their menu on Yelp! I would come back here if I was the area, although Parking was a little hard to find. read more

One of my favorite coffee shops in the area to study, meet up with friends and read. The vibe is very chill and relaxed with small tables, couches and a few taller tables (that work great as standing desks). Decently well lit for studying with a good amount of outlets to make this a place that I like to post up in for hours. During warmer months there is an outside garden area with benches and tables which is perfect for reading outside with a book and an iced coffee. Speaking of the coffee, it is pretty great. They serve La Colombe which is an automatic plus in my book. If you're not into coffee they have a decently large selection of teas and "coolers" which they describe to me as Italian sodas but I think are a little closer to like a Starbucks refresher. If you're hungry, they have a slightly larger menu for a cafe including omelettes, wraps, sandwiches, and baked goods. On top of the normal coffee shop things, Grooveground sells a bunch of knick-knack sort of things like mugs, ornaments during the holidays, jewelry, records, shirts, bags, handmade soaps etc etc etc the list goes on. I'd highly suggest giving Grooveground a try as long as you don't steal all my study space. read more

I love a good coffee place and Grooveground was just that! This is not like every other coffee shop; it's unique. The thing that makes them unique is they sell dvds, movies, clothes and etc. I have never been to a coffee shop that sells things besides coffee, coffee mugs, and food. Once I walked in, I was greeted right away. The workers were patient because I have no idea what to order. I decided to order their pumpkin pie latte and it was amazing! It did not taste like your typical pumpkin spice latte.....it was better much much better. I enjoyed every second of that coffee. Next time I go there, I will order their food to see how it taste but I'm sure it's delicious. This is such a cute coffee shop. South Jersey needs more cute places like this! It's calm and quiet and their beverages are quality and always made to perfection. I've come here during the day while strolling down Haddon Ave and got an iced beverage that made my day. I've also order many, many, (I mean manyyyy) caramel lattes from here and each is as tasty as the last! I recently enjoyed a mic night and it was calm and relaxing. The music was beautiful and it was such a perfect way to spend a Friday night. I haven't tried any of the food because there's so many places to eat down Haddon that I usually full by the time I make my way here. Ordered their Chai Tea Latte and it was aite, only because I like mines a tad stronger. Lots of options on the menu. I wish the interior looked just as cute as their store exterior. It's located in a nice quaint area but a bit of a distance from all your normal convenient places (the mall, etc.). A nice, quiet place for an intimate catch-up or study groove, but not necessarily for an ecstatic hangout; overall setting was a bit dull. A lot of my life revolves around coffee. I drink it every day, either out or at home. Whenever I'm in an area I haven't been in before, I try to find out where the coffee shops are. You can tell a lot about the vibe of a town from where they get their coffee. It's not just about the coffee, but how the space feels, how it fosters community. And in a suburban setting, this is even more important. This is why for me, Grooveground is a 5-star place. Let's start with the coffee. They use beans from La Colombe, the famed small batch roaster in Philadelphia. While La Colombe has been doing some amazing even-smaller batch "workshop" roasts lately, Grooveground keeps it to the basics: the Nizza, the Corsica. They're not serving Revolution, a roasting outfit on the other side of town, but it's a decent, honest cup and won't serve you wrong. On the non-coffee side of the drink menu, they have an array of hot chocolates (including a spicy one with chili pepper, one of my favorite drinks that I'll often get with a shot of espresso), teas, frozen coffees, Italian sodas, and juices. The food offerings are sort of an eclectic mix of things; I've gotten breakfast sandwiches here, I've gotten oatmeal, paninis, and a hummus and chip plate. There're salads, soups, and wraps here too to round out the menu in a more traditional way. And they've always got baked goods of some sort, like breads and bagels. But now I'd like to get to what makes this a 5-star place for me. Looking at other reviews, Grooveground's quirk and atmosphere isn't for some, but it's absolutely for me. The space it offers is more than just a place for drinking coffee. It's a space in a more old-school coffee shop vein. It's a place to hang out. To meet up with friends, to randomly come across neighbors you didn't know you had, to spend a few hours in a cozy place. And there's a outdoor space up against the building as well that gives you a great place to hang out outside, if you're into that (and I am). Another important part of Grooveground are the hours. It's open until 10pm during the week and 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Nowhere else I know in the suburbs has those hours, and even in Philadelphia, it's hard to find a place open that late. Even the super trendy, great coffee places are open til 5pm, 7pm, or at most 9pm. (Even La Colombe's new space in Fishtown isn't open this late on the weekends.) Not everyone retreats to their homes in New Jersey when the sun goes down, and I very much appreciate that Grooveground is somewhere you can go to hang out late into the evening. So, that's what I've got. These are the reasons I love this place, and probably why it's been around ever since I started coming to Collingswood over ten years ago. read more

A colleague and I met for a business meeting at Grooveground this evening. The downtown area of Collingswood is a cool place to walk around with an interesting array of shops and restaurants. Grooveground appeared to be an independent coffee shop - a refreshing change from the typical Starbucks excursion. As a music lover, I was pleasantly surprised to find several shelves of CDs and 45 LPs on sale in the shop, with many interesting album titles. Of interest, there were numerous Pet Shop Boys albums. We both ordered premium latte beverages - they were served hot and delicious. There is plenty of seating, and various were people hanging out working on their computers or conversating. The music inside the Grooveground was pleasing. I don't know if the place offers live entertainment, but I think it would definitely fit in given the setting and music-centric theme! read more

Since moving to Collingswood from Philly, I was hoping to find a new coffee shop to hang at. Grooveground has help to fill that void. It has a very hip vibe to it with a good amount of tables and couches to sit back with your beverage. They also have outdoor seating for when it gets nice outside! Baristas here are very friendly and not at all pretentious. The cold brew coffee I ordered was amazing. Very smooth and you would do a disservice if you put too much sugar in this. They also sell records, clothes, and art here as well! This is definitely a great spot and I will return here often. read more

Grooveground is my favorite coffee shop in South Jersey! I have been going here for years and even looked forward to my trips to the shop when I had moved away and wasn't living nearby. Luckily, I'm back in town and Grooveground has remained my favorite, even during the pandemic. Their chai latte is amazing! Probably my go-to drink when I visit. And the hot chocolate bar in the winter is always a nice treat to look forward to. They make it easy to practice social distancing when you stop in and they have a great outdoor patio, which I enjoy when the weather is nice. I wish they were open later, but understand and respect their decision to close earlier during the pandemic. I also wish they had local tea options, but I'm always happy with the Chai, so it's not a big deal for me. Great "quasi-hipster" neighborhood spot for coffee or lunch. They serve my favorite brand of coffee (La Columbe) and apparently sell CDs and stuff too. Today I tried the GLT panini and it was slammin'. I was totally surprised to find they use REAL turkey (and that's no jive) instead of the standard processed lunch meat kind of turkey (just look at that turkey in my picture!) though curiously they left out the bacon (hey what's shakin'). Outside you can people watch from the sidewalk seating while inside has comfy cafe tables and couches perfect for busting out your computer and getting some work done. All in all a quieter spot than Haddonfield's more "uppity" but still good Saxby's for the work-from-home-but-I-want-to-spend-time-at-coffee-shop crowd. read more

Another day, another coffee shop. I stopped by grooveground for a couple hours of studying this past week and really enjoyed my time there! I was a little disappointed they were out of cold brew, but quickly lightened up after trying their iced coffee and discovering that their selection of non dairy milks includes oat milk. The iced coffee was smooth, refreshing and tasted similar to a cold brew. I also opted for a bagel, which was good--not sure if they are made in house or not. My favorite part about grooveground is their selection of food. It seems like a lot of other local coffee shops are lacking in the food department, so it was nice to see a full menu. I will definitely come back to order from it. It was also a nice day so I was happy for the option to take my food to the outdoor patio which is a great outdoor space and my other favorite part about this shop. I love to be outside when it is nice out! However-- there are no outlets outside (from what I could find). One other downside is that this coffee shop does not feel very "homey"...one other reviewer described it as corporate which I have to agree with. I accidentally stumbled upon this shop by parking out front of it today. It was 2pm and I didn't have any coffee yet so I decided to go in. The inside is cute and has a bunch of local things for sale. They brew colombe which is my personal favorite so I was already pleased. When I got to the barista she was super friendly and informed me that they do have sugar free pumpkin, which is a huge plus because it's hard to find. I got a cold brew with the sugar free pumpkin and it was perfect! I'll be back soon! read more
