Ive been to many cafes over the years but this is one of my all time favs!! It has a grunge vibe filled with dark wood, metal details, and post punk music. Love that it is spacious and has many seating options from ornate couches to smaller circular metal/ wood stools. Their chai is so yummy and strong, I recommend getting it with cinnamon. Also enjoyed the ham and cheese croissant which was pretty decadent because the dough tasted more like challah. Baristas are so nice as well. Great place for going out to do work with plenty of chargers and WiFi, or just to stop by and pick up a drink/ food. Only downside is I can't get pictures of anything here because the food and drink are too good and I'm too locked in working. read more

The wait is over. If you're in Manhattan you can find many locations of Ground Central. But if you are in Long Island, only one place and it's right on sunrise highway in Lynbrook. The inside makes you feel like you're in your own den or living room. The staff is great and makes everything to perfection. I put this place right up there with Gregory's and Southdown Coffee. The banana bread stuffed with Nutella slightly warmed is a great halftime show. The Americano was made perfectly and so was the Cortado. Excellent spot to grab a quick coffee. Service is effective with polite staff that are quick to take and make the order. Personally got the ice latte with peanut butter flavor. Flavor was on point. Latte was excellent unlike some places where it tastes like coffee flavored milk. Flavors were balanced. Prices were decent. Selection of food and sweets was eh not amazing but they had options. This was my first visit to Ground Central, and it definitely will not be my last. The staff were friendly and I loved the laid-back atmosphere. The space was clean, well-organized, and had different sections where you could dine while reading a book or working on your laptop. It's the perfect spot to grab a quick bite or sit and chat with a friend. I enjoyed my Iced Coconut Matcha Latte and the Egg Frittata Sandwich is my new obsession (so good!) Overall: easy space for me to sit and talk with friends! The coffee was okay they were training a new barista so my milk was a lil burnt, the service was super nice! Inside: lots of seating and space. Might be harder to sit when its the weekend / friday afternoons. Cozy comforting lounge like but also has regular tables. Little loud Food: nice quick place for some pastries just ask for it warmed! Had the croissant which wasn't crazy just a easy quick bite. Very functional cute space for working. The music can sometimes be loud so I don't recommend working here if you have to take meetings, you can sit on a bench outside if needed but may not be ideal. Visited Ground central today to take part in the National matcha day offers- $3.00 matchas if you order online- the only problem was the app. Wouldn't work. Tried numerous times- thankfully when I went to the Lynbrook location, the staff was very kind and understanding and honored the price. The only other issue is they switched around the seating in the store and taking out a very cozy couch which now makes it difficult for me and my friends to find comfortable seating . They also, for some reason decided that they will no longer carry stevia sweetener, which I use in my drinks. It seems like the ownership has a backwards way of operating their coffee shops - thankfully God the manager and staff at the Lynbrook store are extremely accommodating and try to make our visits pleasant as possible read more

This is my, by far, favorite coffee shop to grab a (strong) cup of java, or to spend some time working on my doctoral dissertation or Yelp reviews. The staff is always friendly, accommodating, and I have NEVER had my order done wrong. Their Lynbrook location has a large table to co-work at, and there is always great music playing overhead (anywhere from typical acoustic coffee house music to 80's punk, to off the grid Indie/grundge. They also have some classic vinyl records on display. Comfortable couches, wingback chairs, tables, and bar seating looking out the front windows finish the overall aesthetic of this place. If you've ever been to Seattle and remember the original coffee houses of the 1990's, this spot nails it. Don't go to that "other" coffee place--get a cup of REAL coffee without chemical flavorings, meet some great people, hang out with local folks, and read, work, or just "be" with a cup of the finest coffee around. read more

Such a trendy spot. I loved the decor and vibe right away. So many murals, art and decor detail that was put into this space to make it really unique. I like Ground Central (Lynbrook) a lot! They *always* have good music playing. Can usually score a seat at a table or couch. Tons of books! The coffee - I've only had latte and cappuccino. It's great espresso, and they always top the drink off w/ a cute foam design. One important observation: the drinks have not been hot enough lately. They were busy today and I'm assuming the baristas aren't steaming the milk long enough. I didn't have enough time to ask them to re-do. Kind note to management: please instruct for hotter drinks. ..Wow. I've only ordered their Mocha Latte and it's the BEST one I've ever had. They truly craft each drink...not just make. There are multiple locations of Ground Central in New York City, but I went to visit the one in Lynbrook. It is located in a shopping center so there are plenty of parking spots. It wasn't too busy on a Friday around 8am. The cafe is very cozy and has a bookstore vibe. There are plenty of books and board games on the bookshelves. The chairs are loungey. The space is great for catching up with friends or to work. There is a display of pastries right next to the cashiers. The drinks come in small or large. I had a small matcha latte. They asked what type of milk I wanted and sweetened or unsweetened. It tasted great, had great matcha flavor, and was not bitter. Ground Central is a great addition to the neighborhood and it is right by the LIRR so stop in and grab a drink or pastry! read more

No specialty drinks or flavors, pretty boring. Out of all the coffee shops on LI this is definitely one I won't be returning to. Basic and coffee was mid. If they want to hire girls behind the counter that wear tube tops and their hair down fine but please realize it takes an extra 5 minutes to make my drinks because she has to constantly fix her shirt and hair. She decided the ring me up then spend the next 5 minutes cleaning the counter instead of making me my drinks. Looks and feels like a Starbucks that tried to go local. Then I realized it's a chain store and it made sense. This place isn't being run by an owner that is present and cares. read more

I've tried a lot of coffee shops on Long Island, and this is definitely one of my favorites! The coffee and pastries here are delicious. The cheddar chive scones are my fav, and my dad loves the chocolate chip scones - he always asks me to come here (specifically for the scones) whenever I'm going out to get coffee. They also have great drink options, but my go-to is an iced caramel latte with oat milk. Sooo good and the perfect sweetness! The store itself has such a cute aesthetic, and the decor is beautiful. There's a lot of seating, so I sometimes bring my computer here to do some work, which I find really relaxing. Not to mention, the service here is always fantastic and your order comes out fast. This place is cute and the set up is comfy for getting work done, meeting up with a friend, or reading. I came in on a remote day from work. The WiFi was easy to join and the music is a vibe. It was a little loud but once I put my AirPods in I was ready for all the zooms and team meetings scheduled. It had a nice flow of people in and out... chilling, working, or just grabbing a coffee. I had a chai latte and a croissant ( warmed up). Both were delicious! The has different milk options and syrups. The chai was delicious and the little sprinkle is cinnamon on top sealed the deal. After I finished the latte I kept smelling the empty cup. I wish it came as a candle. They had options for coffee, teas, pastries, juices, sandwiches, salads, lots of delicious option. The bathroom was dark but clean. The long table, couches, chairs, and little ottomans all gave a cozy but practical vibe. They have lots of records, books, and board games lining the walls. This used to be a Starbucks and someone had a clever idea to flip it into a coffee shop . Love the concept. The ambiance gives library with a coffee shop. They have a great selection of teas, coffees and lattes ranging from about $6-$8, which is about average price range. They also have breads, muffins and a wide variety of pastries in addition to fresh fruits. You're able to purchase bulk coffee to go and they also have merchandise for sale. Customer service is pretty consistent. They're grateful for patronage and quite accommodating. The owner, a tall white male is always super pleasant. When they have a private event, they'll make an announcement and give patrons plenty of time to pivot, you're never just rushed out. The space is decent size with carefully curated seating so you're not elbow to elbow. There are a number of plush couches, stand alone accent chairs and benches at a work station near the counter. Seats about 20 ppl comfortably. All seating areas allow for laptop use without any hassle and the owners and staff are not on you about how much time you're allowed to spend. Grateful for this space. There's not a space like it in Jamaica Queens so I come here to work/study. Saves me from going to Bk. read more

Came here on a whim while in the area. Was hesitant to try the matcha latte since a lot of places don't do it well but wow! I was pleasantly surprised. I got an iced matcha with oat milk and oat was only an extra 60 cents unlike other places that charge up to a dollar. The size was great I was able to taste the earthy matcha taste. You can pick sweetened or unsweetened I opted for the unsweetened version. My bf got the hibiscus Pom tea which was alright, a little watered down and lacking more ice but overall it was ok. But the highlight was definitely the matcha and the vibes. Lots of people in the cafe doing work or chatting, ample seating ranging from high tables and chairs to sofas. I've been searching for a cafe like this, and so satisfied that I found it. It's incredibly cozy with big couches, arm chairs, regular tables, dark painted walls, woods and metals, and big built ins filled with hundreds of books. There's a great mix of music in the playlist and good vibes all around. The drinks and baked goods are really well done, and decently priced. There's even a rewards system which is always a plus to get some $ off after a few purchases. The staff is super welcoming and friendly, and everything comes out nice and quick. This is definitely going to be my new go to to read, relax, and maybe get some work done every now and then. read more

Very cute spot, but I don't know if I'll be back. Walked in a few mornings ago and the woman behind the counter (think she's the owner), was pleasant - she took my order. I got the avocado toast that came with onions and carrots on top with balsamic vinaigrette - also came with a small salad on the side topped with the same vinaigrette. I think they should nix it from the avocado toast though because it was too much and made my toast soggy. Also, having it on both was definitely overpowering - I couldn't finish it. What turned me off though is when I ordered my tea, the woman asked if I wanted a small or large. I said, "Hmm...do you guys have free Wi-Fi?" She said yes, so I said "I'll have the large then! Lol." I brought my laptop so I could work for a couple hours. Anywho, I stepped over to a side table to add sugar to my tea, and before I even turned around - I heard the woman say to the young man behind the counter, "We're gonna have to start charging people rent in here!" So. Rude. Left a bad taste in my mouth for sure. Like, it's a coffee shop with a free Wi-Fi sign posted up as soon as you walk in. It's a cute and welcoming coffee shop with plenty of comfy seating and tons of great coffee, tea and pastry options. There's even a decent amount of outlets sprinkled throughout, which is always super convenient when trying to get some work done.
