The nearby Stennis Space Center is not open to the public. However, the Infinity Science Center is just outside the Stennis Space Center, and it brings NASA history, space flight, earth science and science-related technology to life. This museum offers an abundance of superb exhibits about the history of the Space Program. Exhibits are both indoor and outdoor -- the outdoor area includes the first stage of a Saturn V rocket. The Stennis Space Center is the main facility for NASA rocket testing, so if you are a space flight enthusiast, this is a great place to visit. Real space memorabilia are displayed, including spacesuits, the Apollo 4 capsule, and a lunar module mock-up. The anti-gravity displays are fascinating. Hands-on exhibits are plentiful and educational, including a "create your own hurricane" exhibit. If you need to take a break and sit, movies are shown in their little theatre. The gift shop and cafe are pleasant, and good places to get a drink, snack, or light lunch, and a fun souvenir (I got myself a great NASA ball cap!). Just off Interstate 10, this is a must-see for anyone who has a love of science, math, engineering, or technology -- and wonderful for children interested in STEM. Even if you're just passing by on your way to someplace, this is very much worth stopping for at least an hour of your time.

The place is packed with fascinating artifacts and hands-on exhibits that bring NASA history, Earth science, engineering, and technology to life in the coolest ways. From the moment we walked in, we were surrounded by wonder--interactive displays, real space memorabilia, and so much more. The experienced hosts and staff were fantastic; they genuinely love sharing knowledge and took the time to explore the space with us, answering every question my daughter fired at them. It made the whole experience feel personal and exciting instead of just "look but don't touch." If you're in the area (or even if you're not), this is a must-visit for families, especially if your kids are into STEM. We left inspired, educated, and already planning our next trip. Huge thank you to the wonderful team for making it such a memorable day!

If you're not careful you may pass it up because it's truly a house. Once inside we were greeted by a crew of women who advised that the museum consists of six rooms and we were free to explore each one. Nothing fancy but it was very touching and real. It was heartbreaking to see what the citizens of the 9th ward have gone thru over the years and still trying to overcome today. This museum brings light to so many things that you don't see on the news or read about on a daily. I truly have a deep appreciation for the residents of this great citizen and an extra appreciation for those in the 9th ward. This is a gem and a must see for everyone going to New Orleans and I even had the opportunity to leave comments on a book

However, the area is not a post-disaster theme park; it is indeed a mostly residential neighborhood that to the extent that it has been resettled is populated by locals. So what is the non-local who's interested in the history to do other than wander around vacant lots? Fortunately, this small museum offers one possible answer. A shotgun house packed full of pictures and videos documenting the pre- and post-Katrina history of the neighborhood, it is embedded in a residential area but gives a visitor something tangible to latch on to. It's not big, but it is free to wander, and I spent a decent amount of time thoroughly perusing everything. It certainly has an activist stance, and paints an interesting picture, including its discussion of the pluses and minuses of all the attention the place received following the hurricane. Additionally, it offers various educational programs for kids after it closes. This is a local endeavor; parking is strictly on the street, which is as haphazard as it is in much of the city, and you'll probably have to drive carefully by some kids playing pickup basketball on the way. But it makes for a great experience and offers what by all means seems to be the genuine local voice.

However, I think it is equally important to mention that my girlfriend attended with me. She only had a general knowledge of the war, yet she also considered it a five-out-of-five experience. You certainly don't need to be a historian or veteran to appreciate what this museum has created. The National WWII Museum is massive. You could easily spend most of the day here, especially if you take your time reading, watching the films, and exploring everything. The museum covers multiple buildings and levels, so be prepared for a considerable amount of walking. During our visit, the exhibits appeared accessible to guests with mobility needs. There is an excellent mixture of immersive environments, historical artifacts, educational displays, interactive features, and video presentations. The exhibits are modern, detailed, and arranged in a way that makes an enormous and complicated conflict easier to understand. Whether you are already familiar with the subject or walking in with only basic knowledge, there is something here that will capture your attention. The entire museum was exceptionally clean, and every staff member we encountered was polite, knowledgeable, and willing to help. We saw visitors from nearly every age group, and everyone appeared engaged, reading the displays, discussing the artifacts, and interacting with the exhibits. History is treated with great care here, but it never feels stale or lifeless. The sections concerning the airborne forces naturally struck a particularly deep chord with me. At one point, I could almost feel the spirit of my 101st Airborne forebears flowing through me, the courage, sacrifice, and proud legacy of those who wore the Screaming Eagle long before I did. It was an emotional reminder that although generations change, the history and brotherhood remain. Their presence apparently remained with me even after leaving the museum. That evening, while venturing down Bourbon Street, I discovered that I could drink with a stamina I had never previously possessed. Whether this was airborne pride, supernatural intervention, or several deceased paratroopers temporarily occupying my liver remains a question for historians and medical professionals to debate. A phenomenal museum and an absolute must-see while visiting New Orleans. Give yourself plenty of time, wear comfortable shoes, and prepare to be humbled, educated, and possibly accompanied onto Bourbon Street by the spirits of the 101st. Airborne--all the way!

A massive highlight was the 4D theater movie narrated by Tom Hanks--it was awesome and is highly recommended if you visit. Make sure you give yourself definitely a few hours to go through everything so you can properly learn and take in as much as possible. If you are staying next door at the Higgins Hotel, there is a small ticket discount available, which is a nice perk. We didn't get to try the food inside the museum, choosing instead to go offsite to Magazine Pizza. It's located within steps of the museum and turned out to be a smarter choice cost-wise, I think!

At time of purchasing tickets it could've been mentioned what is and isn't available; would be very helpful. We were unable to feed and/or pet the stingrays, there was only 5 spots for kissing sea lion that were no longer available, so for a family unable to plan in advance with changing schedules it was a bummer. The bird feeder stick took me by surprise because it looks disappointing, however it was sufficient to get some of the birds to land. The dolphin/sea lion show was pretty good, I would just appreciate maybe a screen with whatever the speaker was saying, it was hard to hear in that room with the echo. All in all my family enjoyed it.

After the tour, we wanted to pick up a few bottles, but unfortunately they were out of what we were looking for.
