I do understand some of the negative reviews because Mr Coffey can be a bit abrasive.However he answered my phone message immediately.His crew arrived on time and did an excellent job and unlike a number of landscapers, no plants were destroyed and everything was cleaned up to my satisfaction.The price was very fair(spring cleanup and mulching.) Started using grounds by Coffey this year. Thus far the service has been amazing. John scheduled a drop by to assess our yard maintenance. He was polite and professional Quoted weekly lawn mowing with edging at $30/week. Quoted us on weed control and full landscaping and mulching of front and rear beds. After considering the pain to buy mulch and do the work ourselves we decided to have them do the work. It was worth every penny. I think previous negative reviews were older and more snow removal focused but out experience has been great. We are a month plus in and would recommend them in a heartbeat. read more

I received a voicemail message from John Coffee on 2/1/22 informing me that all 3 of his snow plow drivers quit on him at the same time, and he would be unable to fulfill his obligation to plow my driveway in the future. When all 3 employees quit at the same time, it really makes you wonder what he did (or didn't do - $$$?) to piss them off. There is a major snowstorm forecasted in 2 days (2/3/22) which is not enough time to research and contract with another company. John Coffee claimed that the circumstances around this situation are completely out of his control. Lesson learned. Don't count on John Coffee or Grounds by Coffee because he will abandon you when you need him most. read more

After 10 years of service, John called 2 days before the biggest snow storm of the year (Feb 2022) to terminate snow plowing saying his drivers all quit on him at once. I see another yelp review experience regarding the same issue. Abrupt and unfriendly without any hint of a thank you for having been a customer at all. DO NOT recommend. read more

This is an initial review based on the first three days of snow for the season. I'll update the review if there is a change in service. My wife signed us up for plow service from Grounds by Coffey for the Winter. The first appreciable snow has fallen the last three days, January 10th, 11th and 12th 2016, very late in the season. It started snowing Sunday which put a layer of precipitation on the driveway, they didn't come any time Sunday or Monday because it either didn't exceed 2 inches of snow (from the Sunday snowfall) or stop snowing from the Monday overnight to Tuesday. By Tuesday morning the snow that fell Sunday had turned into a layer of ice. My wife called Monday to get clarification on when they would come to plow (the " greater than 2 inches of snowfall" and "has stopped snowing" info was reiterated). If I had known they weren't going to clear the snow before it froze into a layer of ice, I would have shoveled the driveway on Sunday. Tuesday morning there was about 3 inches of snow on the driveway in the morning on top of the ice from the earlier snow, so instead of going to the gym, I shoveled the loose snow off the driveway. Our driveway runs from the street to the detached garage on the back of our lot, so it's quite long, and there are limited areas to throw snow to either side along much of it. We got a plow service to avoid having to shovel it. When I came home from work Tuesday after it had been flurrying most of the day, I came home to a note in my screen door. I initially thought it might be an "I'm sorry" note, but it said that because the driveway had been shoveled, they did not plow and that we should call them to let them know if the driveway has been cleared already. I had been counting on them plowing to loosen or clear much of the ice that was left by the earlier storms, but no. I tried to call them during business hours, but got a machine. While I worked to loosen some of the ice under the snow, they called my wife and she let them know that even if the driveway looked shoveled, they should still plow it. Right now I'm very disappointed in the service we've gotten. I need to leave earlier than usual for work tomorrow, so I'm planning to have to shovel again so we don't end up with an even thicker layer of ice where the tires run. read more

The owner John was very rude with me after I had asked him twice if he could not come so early. He agreed over the phone to come by later, but instead showed up earlier than usual, argued with me in my own yard, and after I asked him to leave because he was being rude, said he will finish the job, which only takes 5 minutes to do my yard, and still charge me for it. I have had them to perform yard maintenance including tree branch removal, stump grinding to general lawn mowing. I have always been pleased with the quality, professionalism and cleanliness of their work. Rates are very reasonable and competitive. I would highly recommend them. read more

Save your money and go elsewhere when I asked the owner to do 3 minute job on my property he said NO and also said he is retiring next year and could care less.I also have an 84-year-old neighbor that has been using them for at least seven years and they have so taking advantage of him what a horrible company and a horrible owner read more

Ridiculous Don't pay by the year! We are very disappointed with this service. Plowing is extremely slow and the reason is always that they won't come until it stops snowing completely. Well, it has been snowing for 14 hours and is supposed to continue. God forbid we'd need to get out of this driveway for any reason. They also don't start until 7 a.m., so don't count on getting out of your drive for work. This business is in business for their own convenience, not yours. read more

We've used Grounds By Coffey for three years, summer grass cutting and landscaping and winter snowplowing. We would highly recommend their services. Workers show up consistently same day and get the job done quickly. This is a no-hassle service. And phone response with John Coffey is excellent. After calling the BBB I got a text saying he's going to small claims court. I'd have paid had the work been acceptable. They have been reported to the BBB which will stay on his account until issues are resolved. So hebetter think about his actions or his business will dry up and he's already on 2 of 5 stars. read more

We had called Grounds By Coffey to care for our lawn maintenance needs during the summer of last year. They scheduled our services to be on a Monday, which I was not to thrilled about... but I thought I'd give it a try to see how it worked out for us. We entertain a lot at our house on the weekends... and like the lawn freshly manicured and looking nice. We had them do our yard one time... and were pleased with the quality of workmanship. What became the problem was the day of the service... so I would end up doing the lawn myself, before their arrival on Thursday or Friday and canceling our Monday appointment times. This kept happening so I just called and ceased services all together. Here is where I have an issue with their business practices... after my cancelation of services Grounds By Coffey showed up at my property while we were on vacation in Alaska and did lawn maintenance and charged me a high grass fee to boot. Their services were canceled... why are you showing up at my house first off? Secondly, I will not be responsible for paying for servives I did not authorize you to do. Now, they are hounding me to pay a bill this false bill from last season. read more
