On the recommendation of a friend we visited Growstrong Preschool and 7 years later we are about to have 2 proud Growstrong graduates! I cannot speak highly enough of Growstrong. It is a small, in-home preschool, that has a maximum of 10 students (~6 more recently), and the teacher, Ms. Yvette, pours into these kids so that they are proud and excited learners and are able to do so much more than you ever imagined a 4 year old could do! When looking for a preschool we wanted a place where we felt our child would be safe, with attentive teachers, not sat in front of a screen all day, he was treated well, and he would learn important socialization skills and basics to ensure that they were ready for kindergarten. Growstrong EASILY checks those boxes and goes far beyond. Our 2nd child will graduate from Growstrong in the fall. Between the two of them we have kids who were reading at a 2nd grade level or higher, adding, subtracting, multiplying, doing word problems, playing chess, reciting the "I Have A Dream" speech and excerpts from King's other works as well as poems by authors like Robert Frost, and doing so much more by the time they leave preschool. And through their entire time there they were treated like family by Ms Yvette--a woman who I have never seen even raise her voice at any of these children despite how crazy they may have been acting--given healthy home cooked meals daily, and respected like real little humans with feelings and independent thoughts. It says a lot that out of my son's class of 5 students, 4 of them are siblings to children who graduated or currently go there. I have also grown to be friends with many of the parents of the children who have attended because we are all similarly invested in our kids and their future and value what Growstrong provides. And all of the kids have always been incredibly sweet. With so many difficult decisions as a parent, selecting Growstrong was easily one of the best ones we have ever made. read more

Entrusting someone with your most valued possession is one of the most challenging decisions a parent has to make. There are not enough words to describe the trust, comfort, and love that my child has received at Grow Strong Preschool. My son started here shortly after his 2nd birthday, and I immediately knew that we had chosen the perfect place for him. In the year and a half that he has been here, his growth is nothing short of amazing! He's learning to read, write, identify larger vs. smaller quantities, geometric shapes such as semi-circles, octagons, and pyramids, mathematical concepts, memorize poetry, and so much more (he often "quizzes" me on many of these subjects during our commute home). Grow Strong provides the small class size we were looking for, healthy home-cooked meals, a loving, nurturing, safe and structured environment, with a close-knit community feel. The backyard is large with lots of fun toys and a cute little garden where the children get to do some spring planting. I am honored to be part of the Grow Strong family and I'm already having anxiety thinking about him having to leave for kindergarten. She is passionate about helping young students become confident scholars. She has had so much patience with my son and helped him transition seamlessly. Within a month he went from only being able to write his first name to writing his full name, numbers to 100 and reading short sentences and sounding out words. The staff and owner are phenomenal. All children are given yearly individual plans that detail the expected bench marks. The children are taught Spanish, Life Science, and well as Math and English. My 5yr old was more than prepared for Kindergarten after attending Growstrong. I highly reccomend the nurturing environment and academic taught here. Its pretty private, its not overcrowded, she has a min of 6 kids a semester , amazing professional staff, healthy food for the little ones and is an absolute place for advancing your lil one. To trust people you know with your most prized possession is very difficult, let alone strangers. Visiting places to put your child is no fun. When I went to visit this school, it felt familiar. First impressions were great. It's a clean establishment, bright and airy, huge yard for the kids to play, up to date material, and structured. I left there feeling that I'd didn't need to look no further. After talking it over with my husband, we decided this was the place for her. I contacted Ms Yvette an hour or so later, signed the contract, and she started two weeks later. My daughter has now been there 10 months and Grow Strong has surpassed my expectations. When my daughter started his school, she already knew her alphabets, colors, body parts, and almost all her numbers from 1-20. Now, she is writing, getting through reading by herself by sounding out every letter in each word, fully potty trained, and she loves her friends (or as she calls them "my kids"). My family loves this place. She has a great summer program filled with themed days, field trips here and there. At the start of the year, each student gets a week that is all about them. Everyone get to know that child a little better. It's really sweet. When I drop my daughter off everyday, I always have my 18m old with me and he never wants to leave. I can't wait until he is of age, so I can move him right on in. It is such a pleasure to leave a review for a truly amazing daycare!! I have been on the search for an amazing daycare for my son who 18-months. Needless to say this search can be such a pain to find the perfect match for you child in love, tenderness, structure, health, education, etc. While getting referrals from friends I instantly remembered Mrs. Yvette! She taught my niece (who is now 20 years old if that gives you any idea of Mrs. Yvette's consistency and experience) when she was 2 years of age. I remember coming home from school thinking, my 2/3 year old niece is learning the same things I am in school (at that time I was middle school age). As soon as I thought about her I rushed over because I know she would have a waiting list. When I arrived I was so pleased to find that she is still running her amazing pre-school was jumping for joy at the opportunity to enroll my son. I was so impressed with the children's behavior and manners, recognition of their daily routine without being told, and their highly developed language and reading skills. 3 1/2 years ago, after an exhaustive search for a preschool, I enrolled my 18-month old at Grow Strong Preschool after hearing about it by word of mouth. Words are inadequate to describe how amazing this place is and what it has done for my child. Grow Strong has the perfect balance of fun, education and structure/discipline. There are no more than 10 kids at a time, so it's also a nurturing place. At 5 years old, my child will enter kindergarten knowing how to read, write, count (English & Spanish), recognize shapes & colors and do basic math because of the stellar curriculum at Grow Strong. She has manners, shares toys, etc. The owner, Miss Yvette, plans fun activities on an ongoing basis (Read a Thon, Tropical Party, Camping Day, etc.). She makes home cooked, healthy lunches every day. On every child's birthday, she decorates the school and bakes a cake. My daughter wakes up excited to go to preschool. One year during Grow Strong's winter holiday closure, we enrolled her in another preschool and she hated it, crying every morning and afternoon at drop off and pickup. Where do I begin.. This is an amazing Preschool. I brought my daughter here at about 4.5 years old and my only wish is that I had transitioned her to this preschool sooner. Prior, she was in a very popular and established preschool--that apparently doesn't believe in seriously teaching reading and math in preschool. So to compensate, I enrolled her in Kumon to give her a more academic focus that would ultimately lead to early reading. Kumon was great. I would recommend it. However, I was a bit perturbed that I was paying for a preschool that basically refused to teach her how to read while I knew she was more than capable of learning both. So I read some reviews here on yelp and went to visit Ms. Yvette at Growstrong. I signed her up and I could not be happier. Miley is now reading simple sentences, adding, subtracting, counting 1 to 100 (writing and reciting), and comes home asking me about random science facts that she learned at school. Grow Strong taught her to memorize and recite a tremendously long poem called "My Shadow" https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/43196/my-shadow. They have an amazing focus on black history which reinforces positive African-American role models in addition to the traditional role models that students typically learn about. We just had an amazing STEM project report and she demonstrated a very cool experiment to her class. I'm big on academics. However, she also has ample opportunity to play, build social skills, and really interact with other children. I would highly recommend this preschool to anyone who is serious about their child's early childhood education. At least twice a month, I find myself truly amazed at what she has been learning and thankful that I was able to find Grow Strong and they had availability when I applied. We have had our 3 year-old at Grow Strong for three months now and couldn't be happier. She has learned to write the alphabet, the numbers, her name and is starting on words. She is learning to read and to add, and she knows several terms in Spanish. In addition, she came home talking about the concept of the force of gravity and the planets last week. Ms. Yvette is loving, nurturing and really cares for the children deeply. She develops individualized learning goals for each student and really gives them a lot of love, tempered with structure. I was very nervous about selecting a preschool for my first child. He was 18 months when we started to look for daycare services for him. I was Very unhappy and disappointed when visiting what i have nicknamed the "kid factories" in my Westchester area. There were always sooooo many kids and the people that worked there seemed as if they where there strictly for a check. I gave up looking for a suitable preschool and kept him home. After going to my son 2year checkup my pediatrician suggested Grow Strong. I had never even considered a home daycare. However once we visited I was extremely impressed. It is a comfortable setting with just the right amount of children with 2 very attentive women who cook healthy meals daily for the children. The kids get to play in a huge backyard, where they learn gardening as well. My son learned to read, write, math some spanish all in the first year! I felt so lucky to be a part of this group. So all 4 of my children have attended this preschool. Currently my youngest son (3yrs) is attending and reading at a 2nd grade level his twin sister is right behind him. I can't even believe that myself! My older sons constantly get compliments on how they have great manners and how advanced they are, I must give alot of that credit to Ms Yvette and Ms Helen.
