This is a good place to buy used clothes, but not to sell used clothes. Owner only lets you sell things one day a month and the process is inconvenient. You have to wait at the store and can't just drop off and come back later. If there is anyone ahead of you, you could be there quite a while. I have an infant and a toddler and couldn't wait that long for them to look through what I brought in. I bring my clothes to "Once Upon a Child". You can drop off and pick up later and they accept clothing everyday. read more

I went here to see what I could find for the 9 month old boy twins I help with. The store is crowded to the point that I think the wouldn't pass a fire inspection. If there is a person standing in the "aisle" you have to wait until they move to another place in the store to get around. Their selection of boys clothing 12-18mos. was miserable and the shorts I eventually settled on could have been priced better. I don't think I will be returning. read more

I love this consignment store! As so many children's consignment stores have closed in my area, I am so happy that this one is still open, even if it means me driving 30 minutes to get there. I have completely clothed my 2 grandchildren, ages 6 and 2, from Growing Pains. Each season, they have a good sized selection for both my grandson and granddaughter, but of course, there are more for the girls. All the clothes are washed and pressed and in great shape. They also have a good inventory of toys, books and children's and babies items. There prices are very fair and they have some high end brands but mostly medium priced brand names. My only disappointment, I can't get there as often as I would like. read more

Love this shop! Lori and her staff are all very friendly and helpful. The store is well stocked, both new and used merchandise are well priced (as well as in great condition and clean!) and there is a play area to keep the kids entertained while you shop. Shop often, you never know what treasure you will find! An even better way to shop is to make an appointment to bring your items to the shop and they pay or give credit for any items they can sell! Came to Growing Pains yesterday for the first time. I had called before I went to see if they had snow gear for my toddler. Misty was extremely helpful and put a couple things on hold for me. Once I got there she helped me get everything I needed-boots, snow bib, gloves, and hat all for $35! And I ended up buying other clothes, the prices were so great. Definitely recommend going here for kids clothing. They also have strollers, swings, etc. and a play area for kids to keep them occupied while you shop. read more

CLEAN and ORGANIZED. Owner is really friendly. Prices are very reasonable but felt the stock on handy was limited. Brands were limited and I found that Old Navy and Carters were the majority brand. I agree with a previous post. As a consignment store, I think that they need to be clear in what "gently used" items are. I unloaded furniture and toys that were fully functional and lightly chipped, and they made me take it all back and load it into my car after I had unloaded everything. They will not take something that has a small less then dime size spot or chipped, Definitely review the items that you have with them in full detail before considering to sell it to them. It was 2 hours wasted. The warm sense of welcome has been lost with this new ownership. Sad to say I will not be coming back here. read more

I love this place. I was turned onto it by my son's Preschool teacher and I love it. I got my son a WONDERFUL booster seat for $18! You can't beat that. I also got him clothes for great prices and everything is in such great condition. This place is great for my budget. The only draw back and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the one time I went in they didn't have much boy stuff to chose from. My son is 5 and there wasn't as much as I had wished. I've been coming here since before my son was born. I like how the items are marked at a very reasonable price. I was however very disappointed when I came here to sell my son's clothes and various baby items. I brought several boxes of clothes and the owner picked through the clothes that she wanted. She took like a couple of clothes out of each box and needless to say I left with almost as much stuff that I came in with. This was an inconvenience for me as I live in vallejo and had to bring a majority of what I brought back home. I was also disappointed that they carry hardly any 12 months boy clothes. Best childrens consignment in Contra Costa! I love shopping in consignment stores for childrens items, and for the quality/value, this store can't be beat! They always have high quality items (including name brand items, nothing with stains,etc) at a priced that doesn't leave you shaking your head wondering if you really just left a consignment store or a retail store. If you are looking for baby gear, be sure and look "up" in the store, as most of the items are stored on top of the clothing racks. So as a shopper/buyer, if you are looking for baby gear, baby clothes, then yes, this store is awesome for low prices and lots of selection. However, as your child gets older, there is almost nothing to choose from. I never find things here for ages 24 months and up. My daughter is almost 3 now, and I haven't really found anything here since before she was two. My son is nearing 18 months, and there are rarely things for him. We have scored some great toys. Prices are very good. As a seller/consigner, I always leave here feeling ticked off! She maybe takes 10% of what I bring in (which is totally weird considering I can see she has nothing on the 2T rack for girls and doesn't want to buy my 2T stuff, totally free of stains or any flaws). I don't think she likes Carter's brand or Circo or Children's Place at all. The things she does take are totally random brands that my kid usually got as a gift that we didn't like. She (the owner, Laurie) tends to always be behind on appointments or in a bad mood. Makes you feel like you are the bad guy, groveling for her to take your stuff. Sometimes she makes rude comments that she will need to clean my item up more. I really prefer Christie's for Kids, but I hate their location and don't like that they actually consign (as does Lemonade), so you don't get paid up front and would need to come back for your $ after your items get sold. read more

Growing Pains is a great place to buy and sell used kids items. The deals and the clothes/toys/books you can find here are incredible! Now before you go here to sell, you need to keep a few things in mind 1) Laurie, the owner, needs to make a profit so the amount your going to get for the clothes/toys/etc isn't going to be top dollar. You will get a percentage of what she thinks she can sell it for. 2) She is very picky, a lot of clothes that you think are in great shape won't cut the mustard with her. It can be difficult standing there while she is going through all of your "treasures" and have her discard them. But she is the "expert", it is her store, if she doesn't want it she doesn't want it, don't take it personally. She has been in business for over 15 years so she must be doing something right! 3) Laurie is a very nice person but she is not a warm and fuzzy person. Deal with it, she is who she is. I happen to get along very well with her, but I "get" her. So long story short, you can get brand new looking kids items at a fraction of the cost of new! This place has saved my tight budget for many years and I'm sure it will for many years to come. read more

Clothing wise - forget it if you have a boy. There's such little clothing there for little boys, I haven't found anything of quality looks/condition there for my son since he was out of 6 months. I've seen items in better condition at other consignment shops. There are very few toys/games, and the store feels very crowded - almost impossible to push a stroller through (and most of us that have shopped there probably have a stroller!). Sometimes the store gets new items, but they're all for little girls. There are much better options out there - try one! read more

Good place to scower for deals. There are ALOT of girls clothes so if you are like me & have a boy there are ALOT less options. There were hardly any tops & pants in the 2T-5T section when I went last week. The clothes are a fantastic deal ($2.50 for a long sleeve top) & in good used condition. The shop itself is organized & they do have a play section for the little ones. However, the store lacks cuteness, needs cleaning & appears that the owner put the shelves together her/himself. PLUS the bathroom needs a changing table since most people bring their kiddies to the store. That being said that is probably how they are able to keep their inventory low & the staff is friendly. read more

Great place to shop and save!! I love this place! I found a Moby wrap for $20 3 weeks ago! I went in for the moby and came out with a walker ($5), shoes (nikes $3, carters $2 and watersandels $3), tanks ($2-3), tee ($2-3), hat (tommy $2.50). The following week I went to Target and found the exact same walker for $26.99!! Great place to shop! It's small but well organized. The lady that works there was SUPER nice and helpful! I have a little boy and there was a huge selection BUT they have an even bigger selection for little girls! They also buy clothes for cash or store credit. You do have to make an appt., which is a couple weeks out BUT they accept all seasons all year around! Sizes range from newborn to 14. read more

Awesome place!! very clean and organized. they really have everything!! I bought a really nice car walker for 45.00 and a bouncer play 38.00 for my grand'baby which is about 90.00 Each'new. The only thing I didn't like.. the store, it's so tiny -.- and your walking over ppl, and.. it's worse if you have stuff in hand, like a walker/ bouncer lol..oh, the people, thier pretty nice! I gave it a 4 star because it's so tiny and hard to move around when there's more then 3 ppl there. They had a chicco caddy stroller for $25 less than what anyone was selling them for on Craigslist and $60 less than brand new. It was in great shape and was exactly what I needed. Love this place. You can find great merchandise at great prices. The store is very self-explanatory, and what I mean by that it's well organized, and everything you need is very easy to find. The store is kept very clean. Lori and her staff are super friendly as well. There is even a play area for your children to stay in while you are shopping. I was even turned on to sell some of my daughters stuff here, its very easy to set up an appointment the following week, you can set up in person or over the phone. I found this store by accident while my husband was in search of coffee. Being 8 months pregnant, he humored me by going in here with me. They had amazing prices and I got 11 pieces of clothing for our soon to be born son for under $10. It was the most fun I have had for under $10.
