Yarn in every color of the rainbow
    Yvette A.

I initially found Creative Upcycle with the intention of donating yarn that I've had too much of but I have to admit, I've bought more than I've donated. Since then, I've taken on the hobby of sewing and frequent the store about once a week to see what's new. Everything is reasonably priced and they carry all kinds of craft hobbies, including serviced sewing machines and a wall of buttons. I haven't had to buy brand new fabric, notions, or yarn since stumbling upon this place. I even found a set of Chiagoo interchangeable needles here for a fraction of the price! Meg, the owner, has helped me with every single crochet/knitting/sewing project I've worked on in one way or another. I believe proceeds from the store go to a different nonprofit each quarter and you're keeping craft materials out of landfills!

We love the shutters, but a few pieces had broken off and one plastic rear tilt bar was missing completely. I contacted Hunter Douglas directly, and although they were able to replace the connectors, they were unable to help me find a replacement rear tilt bar. I went to Home Depot only to get the runaround from several people. I then contacted Calico since they are authorized dealers of Hunter Douglas shutters and although Kathy was surprised by my request initially, she took the time to investigate and got back to me as promised to inform me that the rear tilt bar had been ordered. It is so rare to receive the type of customer service I received from Kathy. She was helpful and knowledgeable and did exactly what she told me she was going to do! I'm so impressed & my beautiful Hunter Douglas plantation shutters are like new again! Thanks Kathy!

This experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to share it…read more On a Saturday evening around 6:50 p.m., I stopped by Hobby Lobby with my 4-year-old daughter and my elderly mother-in-law. We were preparing for an upcoming funeral, and I needed help with an expensive gold frame I had purchased from Hobby Lobby. One of the corners had separated, and I wanted to know whether the framing department could repair or reinforce it. Because the frame was large and heavy, I left it in my trunk until I confirmed that someone could help. My mother-in-law waited nearby so she could rest while my daughter accompanied me to the framing counter. I approached the employee working in the framing department and asked if he could assist me. His first response was, "I'm off in six minutes - what do you need?" The tone immediately caught me off guard. As I began explaining that the corner of the frame had broken apart and needed reinforcement, he interrupted me and said, "Stop. Just hurry up and tell me what you need." I was surprised because I was simply trying to explain the issue so he could determine whether it was something the framing department could fix. I told him the frame was needed for a funeral and asked if it could be repaired. Instead of addressing my question, he asked why my husband couldn't fix it. I explained that my husband is currently deployed, so he wasn't available to help, and that while I would try to repair it myself if necessary, I also work full-time. His response was simply, "So do I." At that point, it was clear that helping me was not a priority. What made the interaction even more upsetting was that my 4-year-old daughter asked afterward, "Mommy, why was that man so mean? Why didn't he want to help us?" Hearing that from my child was heartbreaking. I told her that maybe he was having a difficult day because I wanted her to understand that we should still try to show kindness to others. I shared my experience with the manager, who told me that this employee often tells others how important it is to be friendly with customers. Unfortunately, that was not reflected in the interaction we experienced. Thankfully, we went to Ace Hardware afterward, where an employee immediately took the time to help us. He recommended reinforcing the frame with small metal corner brackets, nails, and gold spray paint. His advice worked perfectly, and we were able to save the frame in time for the funeral. This review isn't about expecting perfection. Everyone has stressful days. It's about the importance of treating people with basic courtesy and respect, especially when they may already be going through a difficult time. A little kindness can make all the difference. Unfortunately, that was missing from our experience at Hobby Lobby.

Fortunately I found Tri Valley Upholstery. I send them pictures of the damaged rail and made a "reservation" to bring it in the following week to be worked on right away so as to have as brief a down downtime as possible. Ed at Tri Valley was great - I brought it in on a Tuesday and was able to pick it up on Thursday beautifully repaired for what I felt was a very reasonable price considering the work that had to be done and the excellent job they did. I highly recommend them!

I searched Yelp and found this business (which had pretty good reviews) back in March, 2026. I spoke to Ed, on the phone to get the 411 on how it works with him. I had to leave a voicemail. He called me back fairly promptly. A week or two later we were in Pleasanton, so I suggested to my husband we drop by his shop to finalize the replacement cushions. We took one of the cushions in to his shop so he could take measurements and we could pick out a density of the replacement foam. So he got the measurements and we picked out the density we wanted and got aquote. He said it will take about a week to get the cushions and he will contact us. Great! We waited to hear from him, finally in the third week my husband tried to contact him via text and left a voicemail. We waited and waited and waited. I thought he's a one man show , he must be busy. I finally contacted him again June 3 (text and voicemail) and waited. I do believe he has ghosted us (as my kids say). Definitely do not recommend a business who does not have the common courtesy to return a voicemail or text. Definitely frustrating. I will resume my search. Thanks for reading to the end of my tale.

I appreciate this place being more of a class setting than those one-time activities for date night or to hang with friends, because ceramics takes awhile to get a good handle on.
