Absolutely LOVE this store! I have shopped here many times and sold stuff my little one has grown out of as well. Selection is pretty good, I have a boy so they are a little slim on things in his size, have to check back once a month or so. Loads of girl's stuff. The clothes are in great condition, which also means Lori is a little pickier about what she will buy off of you. But I am ok with that. I just got the cutest monkey costume for Halloween for just $9! I couldn't have made my own for that inexpensive. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for a good deal! I just want to give a proper review after coming to this store. Overall, this was an awesome experience. This was my second time at the store, the first time I came, my mother referred me here and showed my son and I the place. I learned at that point they were a consignment store for baby goods. Met the owner and a different person that day. Both the owner and the employee were very sweet and very personable. I was informed at that time that they personally test the toys and goods before taking them and take clothes that are in like new condition. So I scheduled an appointment to come back and do a trade in with any duplicate goods my son received. They informed me on the condition and manner in which they expected goods before bringing them in. I really appreciated the advance notice. Most places won't provide that kind of courtesy. We came back in and did a trade in. They took us early since the appointment before us hadn't showed up. We were assisted by the owner. We got a good cash or credit option for the goods we brought in (bouncing chair, crib bedding, etc.) Most of what we brought, she was very informative about what she was taking, what she priced the goods at, and the options we had. We took the credit and both the owner and the employee were very knowledgable of the toys we looked at. We walked away with toys and a memory book that were in amazing, like new condition. I came with a PAC-n-play in great condition and was told she didn't have time to look at it. The store had quite a bit of stuff that looked nice but terrible customer service. Definitely won't be returning there. When you buy and sell used equipment and someone comes even willing to just leave something there without getting paid for it, you take it right? read more

Wandered in here today and was pleasantly surprised. It is a small store but they have so much inside. I got a cute onesie, pants and skirt all for $7, and they all look pretty much brand new. What a gem! Great in all the ways that count -- quality stuff, wide selection, low prices, and friendly staff. For $25 I left there with quite the haul of baby clothes: a winter jacket, a fleece hoodie, two sweaters, three long-sleeved bodysuits, one t-shirt, two pairs of socks, and a pair of booties. I regret having spent any money on new baby clothes now! I'll be back in the spring (when I'll be allowed to shop for the next size up). read more

She sold my items for way more than what she quoted me and gave me way less than what I later saw them marked for in the store. This store is the gem of our community. I've been shopping at Growing Pains since my kids are babies. Thanks to the store, I've saved so much money. I never had to pay full retail store prices for the bouncer, stroller, high chair, swing, nursing chair, toddler bed that we only need for a short time. I found so many baby clothes for $2-$5. This seems to be the only kids' item consignment store surviving and thriving in the 10-15 mile radius, it's probably because it sells items in very good condition and the pricing is great. I really appreciate the store being there for us moms. Thank you, Lori, for having the store there and keeping it open! All the staff are nice and friendly too. When it comes to selling your items, expect the owner to be very selective especially on clothes (that's why the store is successful and you can shop happily). Don't expect to get a lot of money because you get 40-50% of how much the store sells the items for, and you know the pricing is low. Considering how much I already saved buying many big ticket items there, selling my nice items is like returning the favor plus make some money so I still enjoy. I have never consigned here, only purchased things. I have been going to this store for about 18 months now and what we tend to get there are toys. Not every time we are there we find the stuff we need/like but a lot of times the finds are great and by far the cheapest out of all the local consignment stores. The clothes for up to 2 yo is usually plentiful but cheaper brands. They are great deals and in good used condition. After 2 yo it is hit and miss. Very much depends on s day, which is what I would expect from a consignment store - depends on what they get. We also buy the new stuff she sells there - the tights, tutus and hair accessories are lovely and inexpensive. They have rows of clothes separated by age and boy/girl, on top and on the sides they have toys for different ages, and then in the back they have shoes, books, and other miscellaneous stuff. I think so far only once I came and left with nothing, usually I find at least a couple of things that we need. It is best to check in regularly. Also sign up for her Facebook page - she updates a lot with her sales and new inventory and you can ask her to let you know if something specific you are looking for comes in. read more

It was so busy in there that day and I felt bad she didn't have more help. I love how organized the store is so you aren't picking through a bunch of random stuff. This is a fantastic store!! I always come in with a list of items I am loking for and 9 times out of 10 they have everything on my list. Prices can't be beat! Great selection of items. I have two boys aged 9 and 11 and always find great clothe for them in the brands that they love. I also shop for my newborn niece and the selection for little girls is wonderful. The first time I walked in as a shopper I was shocked at how cluttered this place seems...but don't be scared! It's totaly worth it! The clothing is all quite reasonably priced and worth the effort. BUT...We don't really shop there...we consign. As a consigner, this place is the best. You are warned on the phone that you will need to bring things in tubs/boxes neatly folded. It's not a hard concept to be ready. And you have to have an appointment. The owner is excellent to chat with as she chooses what she knows she can sell. (Some people seem upset their 'gems' don't get picked. I often wonder why she doesn't take some of the cutest gymboree or baby gap stuff - but she knows her customers much better than I do.) I take the check versus the store credit every time and the money goes in my child's bank account. It's worth the time to take your unneeded clothing to Growing Pains. read more

I am not a consignment expert, but I have always been impressed while there and happy when I leave. The owner can be picky at times, but is always fair when making her selections. She is only interested in items that are in good condition and that she is not already overstocked on; to me that is completely understandable. Love this place and could not ask for more. To anyone leaving a negative review because she didn't buy your stuff, I would bet heavily that your items weren't worth repurchasing. This is a great store that I have shopped at for years. This is a great neighborhood store and I wish we had more of the stores like hers in other cities and towns nearby. The owner and employees are friendly and helpful to find what you need or are looking for. This is a consignment store so if you have any used items you would like to sell you make an appointment with the owner to bring them in for her to review. She will give you cash or a store credit. The items need to be in excellent condition for her to accept. The owner is very selective about what she will sell which is a good thing if you plan to buy anything in her store. She has great taste. This store keeps the items for sale seasonal so it is always up to date on what is needed for that time of year. From what I understand the owner accepts consignments even if it is not a seasonal item and stores it for later in the year when she sells it in the store. This store has clothing for all ages of children of good quality for very reasonable prices. I have greater success in finding clothing for girls under the size of 8 and boys under the age of 8. The store also sells baby, childrens furniture, toys, books and miscellaneous children's products such as baby monitors, strollers, baby carriers, breast feeding supplies. I keep checking in to see what they are selling so I can rotate the toys I keep at my house for the grandkids. I pick up clothing, books and toys for them at this store and keep coming back for more. I usually use cash or atm so I am not sure if the take credit cards. Bike parking is not an issue since there is room to park out front of the store. read more

I love this store! I go in 2-3 times a week and sell to them about every other month! EVERY time I go in there I come out with something! All the people that work there are SO SO SO friendly! It isn't as "posh" as other childrens consignment stores, but it sure is the friendliest, cheapest, and has the most stuff! The owner is so nice and friendly, she and her daughter make a really great team! Their employee, Sonia is so friendly too! When you walk in they make you feel like an old friend! This place may have good deals, but the staff is rude. One of the workers physically ran into us several times while we were shopping and never once said excuse me. They have toys on the floor so my 21 month old son kept picking them up. I was going to buy one for him but didn't have the chance. The manager got upset with us for him carrying them around. Then he picked up two balls (also on the floor) and as I was trying to get them back from him, she ran in front of me, and yanked them out of his hands, making him cry. My mom was actually going to buy the toys for him but not after the manager acted like this. When I told her that I didn't appreciate what she did, she literally huffed and puffed. Then I told her I was going to buy stuff but not any more. I do not appreciate being treated so disrespectfully - I am the customer and should be treated as such. I love getting a good deal. Most times I shop sale or would look for a coupon. Every now and then, I go to consignment or thrift stores to get a good deal. I am just a little disappointed in the selection/ prices of this store. There were not a lot of items in the sizes I was looking for, and the items that were, seemed more expensive than if I were buying it brand new from the original store. It's the end of the summer and used shorts were $4.95. I feel like at most stores, they are marked down to that price point with an additional % off. I began shopping at Growing Pains about 7mos ago. My Mom and I decided to stop in since it is located so close to home. I have to say, I have become a regular! Lori (the owner) and all of the staff are so friendly, personable, and helpful! I have bought furniture, baby and maternity clothes. I have bought pretty much all of my maternity wardrobe from this store and everything I have gotten has been in A++ condition. I am there so often checking on what's new the staff remembers me and are always able to tell me if anything new has been put out since I was in last. My nanny recommended I take my children's old clothing and products to Growing Pains in Concord. I made an appointment and went in this past weekend. Lori was very friendly and she did a great job going through all of my things. I had a lot of stuff with me which I felt bad about, but she didn't complain. She talked about her love for her granddaughter and we chatted while she will going through the items. I would definitely recommend her store to others. I will make future appointments when I am need of purging things. I probably wouldn't shop there only because I normally don't do second hand for my kids (not being snobby, just honest), but I have plenty of friends who do and I will recommend them to visit Growing Pains without any hesitation. read more

Unbelievable deals can be found here, if you hit it right. I've seen the Learning Tower for $30 and a Lily Pulitzer dress for $3. The staff is really nice, they are very welcoming of children and have a fenced in play area so you don't have to chase them around the store. It is always very tidy and well organized and for the most part the clothes are in very good condition. If you like a great deal, this is your place! The owner knows what she is doing and I believe that is why she has been in business for about 13 plus years. You'll need to check Growing Pains out for yourself. This place is a hit or miss kind of place, if you see something there one day, you better get it because before you know it it will be gone. The store has so many people selling to her that at times she is booked out for weeks at a time but because of this, the owner is able to be picky and choosing and she chooses quality items. Her prices are so fair it's a wonder why anyone wouldn't stop at Growing Pains to see if she has what they need before going to any other store. I do not mind second hand especially when the items are in such quality condition and cheaper than any other second hand store. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. There is a special place for the children to play while you shop. And with all the action going on in that place, the owner is amazing at keeping up the chaos. My daughter and I love this place! We found some maternity clothes at very reasonable prices. I got a portable crib/play pen for cheap and a baby swing that was fantastic, again for cheap and both were practically new! The owner is helpful and the prices are fabulous. I have been coming to this store for years. I find Laurie a very good consignment shop owner. I know people get frustrated when consignment stores do not take your things. If they don't ask why - in a non confrontational way so you can learn and hopefully have them take more when you bring in things. The appointments are only 30 minutes so you need to be on time and have your things ready to be looked at. She wants them neat, folded in boxes - no trash bags full of wrinkled stuff. read more

Okay. This store does have good deals but it's always cluttered and dirty. There is hot pink/black boa (tacky) wrapped around the counter where you pay, bags, plastic totes, folding tables and bins full of stuff that is not tagged just heaped all over the front of the store. If the owner reads this -can you just take some time to clean up the store?? By a storage closet at the public storage place at the end of your building. The store is always so junky. With that said, I did get a great deal on a sleep sack that retails for 25.00 and it was only 6 still in the package. All toys we have got there not only has all the pieces but also super clean and have been tested. Love the book and video selections too. Prices are very fair as well. I have been shopping at Growing Pains for about a year now and I tell ALL my friends who are parents about it. They have incredibly well priced items and the owner knows the industry well so she is great at picking out merchandise that is current and in great shape. I also love that they have some newer items mixed in that make the store even that more inviting. In this economy and being a parent of 5 children, the days of paying full price for children's items are gone. Any parent knows that their children rarely wear something before they grow right out of it, or it is no longer "the kids' style". Growing Pains offers a solution to that problem. I bought most of my kids' Christmas presents there this year as well. In addition to clothes for kids birth to 16, they also have maternity clothes which I outfited myself in this summer! They have great quality toys, shoes, bedding, even diapers at times! It is definitely a one stop shop for all parents!! read more
