Really nice little Irish pub went there last night with some friends and it was awesome. Loved the vibe and the atmosphere of this place . If you're looking for a good place to chill with friends around a beer or a drink definitely go there it's pretty cozy .

We had a good time at Grumpy's Bar. One of my friends brought us here for after-dinner drinks and it was a great choice. What I like best about this place is its chill, laid-back atmosphere (at least, during the time we were there, around 9:15pm on a Friday night). Grumpy's is located on the south side of downtown Montreal. It's on a residential-looking strip with a bunch of restaurants and bars. The storefronts are fairly nondescript, especially for Grumpy's. This bar is situated in the basement of what looks like a four-story apartment. It's small with fenced-in patio seating, both in front and back. The front patio has a street view while the back patio is enclosed with tall wooden fencing. We settled in in a comfortable corner next to the door to the back patio. This room was quiet. There was only one other group. The room had a tufted banquette, small wooden tables, chairs, and stools. The furniture, and interior overall, were well-worn. This place has a traditional, old-school vibe to it. I appreciated that it wasn't too loud and packed with obnoxious drunk people. This bar is known for live late night music, however. I think we left just as the music was starting. I spent a bit of time on the back patio as well. There were a few groups back there. It was actually calm and relaxing. The beers were cold and tasty, but the Diet Coke was not. It was severely watered down. Good service.

I had such a fantastic time here the other night! The word pub comes from "public house" - any building open to the public. Grumpy's feel like a traditional gathering place where everyone is a friend. I came here solo after Chez Paree to wait while Larry S. and his cousin got "massages". I sat at the bar and immediately fell into a great conversation with the bartender (originally from Akron, Ohio; it wasn't cold enough for him there). When his attention was required tending to other patrons, he introduced me to some other folks, with whom I had a nice chat. Shortly after they took the photo I posted, I managed to knock my beer all over the bar. Despite this douchey move, I was not shamed or ejected from the bar. Instead, I was introduced to yet another friendly patron. When Larry and his cousin returned, they ordered beers and we moved to a table with our new friend. A great conversation about life in Montreal, life in the US and life in general ensued. We nearly closed the place! Our new friend even contacted us the following day to invite us out again. Success! They had a good beer menu with reasonable pricing and some live music happening in the corner. Sit at the bar if you want to meet people!

I'm not a barfly, and I don't consider myself a connoisseur of drinking establishments. I love going to Grumpy's on a Wednesday night for the jazz jam session. Grumpy's is a nice bar that caters to a wide range of people. You'll often find students here due to the proximity to Concordia, McGill, LaSalle, Herzing, and other colleges I've forgotten to mention and didn't attend. Wednesday nights are my favorite time to visit, because of the weekly jazz jam sessions, one of my favourite jams in the city. It's a nice opportunity to play with established musicians as well as up-and-coming new talent. I've been in the audience and onstage here, and it's always nice to come back to the stone walls and bar stools in this subterranean hangout.

Review for their Quartier Dix30 location, 2025…read more.. Horrible ending to our night, false accusations by their staff... My friends and I went to this pub as a portion of our celebrating one of their birthdays this evening. For context I and my friends are in our late 30s to early 40s, and we had beforehand gone to another establishment but the temperature was unbearable as they did not have air conditioning so we sought out an alternative and chose Mckibbin's. Funnily enough, Mckibbin's didn't have AC either but we ended up staying for a few drinks regardless, mostly to appreciate the live music which was quite good. The waitress was good as well, quick and friendly, we had a minor snafu with a couple of the drinks which were not to our liking but the bar graceously replaced them which is yet another solid point in their favor. Why, you might ask in that case, would I be rating this establishment one star then? Well it all comes down to how we ultimately exited the establishment. We all paid our tab at the table, and finished up the rest of our drinks, still enjoying the music playing. It was a great band by the way, I just have to say. We all ended up leaving after 10-15 minutes and all seemed well, except it was only once we're outside that I found out that apparently one of our group who had gone to the bathroom had been victim of a rather apauling scenario. He had been in the stall for 10 or so minutes (he was doing what he had to do .. sometimes nature calls), and was interrupted by a knock on his stall only to hear the bouncer tell him he had to pay and get out of the bar immediately. The bouncer aparrently had heard him "sniffing" his nose in the stall, and found that to be appropriate reason enough to accuse him of doing cocaine in the stall, and to force him out of the bar. Of course it did not cross his mind to think that perhaps it had something to do with the bar being at approximately 29 degrees, perhaps my friend simply had a stuffy nose, or perhaps he had allergies, no he heard a few sniffles and that was all he needed to throw out allegations. Needless to say, I'm completely and utterly disgusted having learned this. Ultimately we left and let things be, we weren't about to bust back in there and cause disruption for no reason we were already on our way out anyway, but to think that this man, employed by this establishment, could be so outlandishly shortsighted is a true injustice. Suffice to say, my friend has never done cocaine in his life, we quite literally made jokes about this man's accusations the whole ride home. Still, I will never go back to this place, because I shudder to think of myself in his situation and what I might do, how it would make me feel to be on the bad end of this kind of person's shortsighted and unfounded accusations. That said, I urge anyone and everyone to beware of the types of people this establishment has working under its payroll. Most of their staff (everyone else in-fact) were excellent, but unfortunately it only takes one completely rotten apple to ruin the bunch.

Horrible service. They didn't let 3 of my peers with REAL ID in the club. And when my friend…read moreconfronted them, the next time she came in they told her she was "the bitch with the attitude". Tremendously rude bouncers. Don't recommend.

My legs are significantly shorter than theirs, so frankly I had been waiting for someone to acknowledge this. We stopped at Pub McLean's and grabbed a table on the big streetside patio across from Dorchester Square. It's a great place to sit outside, watch Montreal go by and contemplate important matters--such as where we were going next and whether anyone planned to feed me. Apparently, someone did. Almost as soon as we sat down, our waitress brought me a water bowl. Excellent start. Then she returned with PEPPERONI. Excuse me??? I have reviewed quite a few establishments on this trip, and I believe this is what the hospitality industry refers to as exceeding expectations. Meanwhile, Mom and Dad shared a pint and a cider while I settled in to watch the after-work crowd. The patio was lively without feeling chaotic, and there was plenty happening on the street to keep a professional people-watcher entertained. Mom and Dad thought we had stopped here for drinks. I now understand we stopped here for my pepperoni appointment. Dogba's verdict: 5 paws out of 5. Immediate water service: excellent Unsolicited pepperoni delivery: exceptional Human refreshments: apparently satisfactory People-watching: first-rate Short-legged traveler recovery station: approved ‍ Waitress understanding who the important customer was: 10/10 Would return. McKibbin's is a proper, good-sized Irish pub with two floors inside, but those of us with four legs are restricted to the outdoor patio. Luckily, there's a street-side seating area where dogs are welcome, so I settled in for one of my favorite Montreal activities: Human watching. Mum and Dad each ordered a couple of beers. I ordered nothing because, unfortunately, there was no dog menu. There was also no water bowl service, so McKibbin's has some room for improvement in the canine hospitality department. However... I had fans. Not one, but **TWO members of the staff came over separately just to say hello to me. They did not need anything. They were not bringing food. They simply wanted to meet me. At this point, I can only assume word of my arrival in Montreal has gotten around. I tried to remain humble. It was difficult. McKibbin's isn't a fancy dog destination, but that's also part of its charm. It's a comfortable, casual pub where Mum and Dad can have a couple of beers while I relax outside, watch Montreal go by and occasionally receive attention from my growing Canadian fan base. Dogba's verdict: 4 paws out of 5. Cold beers for the humans: Dogs welcome on the patio: Excellent human watching: Staff stopping by solely to admire me: TWICE Dog water bowl: Dog menu: Paparazzi: Surprisingly restrained Would return. It's a fairly large space with seating out front as well as a downstairs bar area and an upstairs area that then opens up to a small backyard area! The music was pretty ok, nothing I wouldn't expect from a local bar. However, on the Sunday night I was there, there was a live singer/guitarist in the main area, which candidly I could have done without. Lots of TVs with sports on to watch. The staff was nice as well and I enjoyed wine, an espresso martini and a very large glass of cider. I'm writing this review mainly because this might have been some of the best poutine I've ever had, flavor wise. The curry was really something and we ate every last fry and piece of cheese. I would come back here just for their poutine.
