This morning my right front wheel bearing broke apart. I was able to get to a safe place to park my truck. I'm living between paydays I called Grumpy's Towing. The gentleman on the phone gave me a great price, $150. I only had $50 available. I asked if he could take the $50and wait till my next payday. He said he had to ask his boss. An hour later he calls me back and asked if I was able to find a way to get my truck to my house. I had not. He then took my offer and sent a driver to help. Driver Scott arrived and very carefully picked up my truck. The damage was really bad. The wheel was only attached to the truck be the brake caliper. My car broke down in Beaverton. I called to get a tow. The person answering the phone was as rude as rude gets. He asked what do I need? I answered "A Tow" then phone silence. He apparently needed me to kiss his ring finger I should be so fortunate to speak with them. I politely stated well if you have a specific question you would like to ask me in order to give him a specific answer he replied: "well why don't you just go somewhere else". That's the extent of the conversation. I've known of this tow company for years. They have not changed a thing after stealing one of their competitors brand new tow trucks and burning it to the ground up in the hills about 20 years ago. They truly are the things nightmares are made of. Tell me how I'm supposed to answer a question never asked. read more

I purchase a van for my boyfriend Jim Johnson at Speeds Auto Auction and he stopped at Walmart in St. Helen's and the van wouldn't start so he left it there. He went back the next day and it had been towed by Grumpy's even though the van had a trip permit issued by Speeds. We went to Grumpy's with all the paper work and Grumpy's refused to release the vehicle running up the fees. Jim went to DMV to transfer the vehicle into his name because he only had the van a week and hadn't done it yet. Grumpy's ordered Jim off the property and is still refusing to release his vehicle. The police referred me to Officer Chris Cowen and when I called him he repeated picked a fight with me-I said we just want our van-I asked him to please meet us there but he refused. We still haven't been able to get our new van from Grumpy's. Extortion like this isn't legal but I guess Grumpy's has the law on his side? read more

Grumpys is the perfect name for this company. I unfortunately had my vehicle impounded in Columbia County, And I wanted to be proactive and try to get a ball park idea on what it was going to cost me to get it out. Now before I go on, I had heard that this places fees can be outrageous, I figured I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and figured they'd have at least a minimum... Well after being very rude on the phone saying it depended on distance, type of car, time of day, the weather and everything else under the sun, the guy still "couldn't" give me a minimum price. I guess he just sits there and depending on how "GRUMPY" he is for the day, makes up whatever price he feels is good enough for him. I would avoid this company at all costs. read more

Grumpys towing is just money hungry. My 18 year old friend who just got her license was stupid and hydroplaned her car. Cops called grumpys. Didn't even let us pick, car wasn't in the way and grunpys won't take our insurance! So they took her truck to the yard and charged her 100$ to "get it out" of the yard but wanted an extra 100$ to take it back to our house and was just going to charge us more money to get it out later. Pressuring her into trying to find a spot that we could afford to drop it. Wasn't helpful at all about trying to help a young girl out. I've met some nice tow company's but I wouldn't call grumpys one of them. They won't tow anyone unless they have money even if your insurance covers towing. read more

Our Log Truck was recently towed to Grumpy Towing. Let me tell you about my experience... 10 a.m, I call to see if it was getting towed to their facility an when we are able to pick it up. Steven gave me the answer he was unsure where they were towing it an unsure of anything really. I asked if it was common that they send their employees out to pick up people's vehicles an not where they are being towed? He then expressed to me that i was a rude individual and and he was going to give me attitude as it was received. I wasn't giving attitude it was a serious question as all i was trying to do was pick up and pay for the tow. Steven informed me after arguing with me that it all depends on certain things. (after hearing him out, I understood and said i would call back) 12 p.m i call back, it arrived at their location however was not completely wrote up so i couldn't pay for it and was told by Steven to call back in 15 mins... I did, and NOW i cant pay for the tow i have to come down in person to verify that it was my vehicle (keep in mind I'm 2 hrs away and have been talking to this man for hrs). I said i can fax you anything you need he refused to take my payment over the phone or except my information to show it was our Log Truck. So I call the owner of Grumpy Towing and YET another issue. He was NOT releasing the Log Truck to me even in person with a CARD! HE insisted on CASH only. not only were they completely unreasonable to deal with what a RIP off on a tow bill of 800+ dollars. I know there is limited towing companies in the area but I would rather pay EXTRA for a tow then to ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

these people took advantage of a disabled veteran who had only just been in an accident, and still processing his emotions after a wreck. i was bullied into signing over the title to my car, and when i asked how much to get the car out( because im an Iraq war vet who is disabled and on a fixed income), they quoted me way high so they could further bully me. Way to screw a vet!!!! just wanted to add that when i voiced my concern i was threatened to be thrown off the property and blocked from access to my personal belongings inside the car...... read more

I was in Scappoose yesterday looking for a house to rent when my truck broke down I live an hour away and the local dealership said they were two weeks backed up and the automotive repair they recommended locally also said they were swamped and they had no guarantee of when they could look at it or work on it. I am on my own in the world and figured I might be stranded in Scappoose for who knows how long but when the tow truck guy showed up he got under my truck and tried a few things as we thought it might be the alternator and then he got on the phone to find somebody who could get me on my way that day. He brought me to a great repair place that got me in right away even though they were very busy they worked with my warranty and had me out the door in a few hours. The really funny thing is he was such a great guy and really went out of his way to help me but when he showed up he did not seem that friendly and when and when I asked him if he was Jay who had spoke to me on the phone he just said "no"and when he was under my truck I said "what did you say your name was again "and he just said "I didn't" then when he was on the phone doing his best to find someone to work on my truck that day I was looking at him thinking what a nice guy this rough around the edges guy is and then it struck me I busted out laughing and I said "YOUR GRUMPY!"and he smiled while still on the phone and nodded. read more
