My recommendation to anyone is to run FAR away from Arsine Grun. Arsine was so terrible that I just filed a complaint with the State Bar of California, minutes ago. If there's any justice, she won't be permitted to practice law after they review the complaint. For sake of ease, here's a copy of the complaint I submitted (with certain identifying information having been redacted): * Back in April 2022, I notified the City of Los Angeles that there was a dead tree on City property, likely to collapse soon and damage our home or hurt someone. * On April 5, 2022, representatives from The City visited the tree, and concluded that it was not a danger, and that they could take up to three years to remove it. Unfortunately, they were mistaken, and the tree did, in fact, collapse, on May 5, 2022, damaging our fence, which would require replacement. * At first, I attempted to deal with the Office of the City Attorney. Since I could not find any companies who could offer estimates on repairing the fence, they asked for replacement estimates for the entire fence, which I provided: Estimate 1 ($85,750.00), Estimate 2 ($69,050.00), and Estimate 3 ($53,000.00). * Without any rationale or counter-estimate, the Office of the City Attorney offered $3,000.00 for the claim. * At this time, in January 2023, I contacted Arsine Grun, attorney. She suggested that she should not bother collecting from the Office of the City Attorney, and should instead attempt to collect from my home insurance company. * She provided no update until March 2023, at which time she let me know that she was (a) accepting a $4,749.26 check from my home insurance company (of which she would keep $1,187.31 in legal fees, and forward the remaining $3,561.95 to me) and (b) continuing to pursue my home insurance company for additional money towards the claim. * In May 2023, Arsine let me know that my home insurance company was offering an additional $10,000 for the claim, stating that they would only pay for the front fence, and not the rear fence, since the home insurance company viewed the front and rear as separate (and Arsine agreed), and they were only willing to pay for the front. I pointed out to Arsine that one of the previous estimates had indeed itemized the front at $32,775.00, and another of the previous estimates had itemized the front at $24,500.00. * Arsine avoided me and ignored my messages for most of June and July 2023. * Eventually, in late July 2023, we had a different attorney send an email to Arsine, threatening to report her to the State Bar Association if she continued to ignore me. * That prompted a response from her, and she asked me to get a new estimate from another company for just the front part of the fence. * I did, and sent it to her on September 19, 2023, Estimate 4: $28,800.00. * Since then, despite my repeated follow-ups with her by email, voicemail, and text messages, almost five more months passed, with no update from Arsine, other than a brief text from her on October 10, 2023, in which she wrote, "Hi Sorry I am in a deposition right now, let me call you back by the end of the day." She did not call me back, and, in fact, she never contacted me ever about the case again, until after I retained a new attorney instead. * Eventually, on February 7, 2024, I retained said new attorney, having been completely abandoned by Arsine Grun without any response or explanation. There is a happy ending here: The new attorney negotiated a $19,500.00 settlement for us inside of one week, but no thanks to Arsine Grun. Stay away from her. You've been warned. read more
