Purse Repair Mr Grundman repaired my black vinyl purse, that looks like leather, with a patch. The corner of my cell phone pocket had cracked the vinyl, leaving the white backing exposed. His patch is barely detectable and even has the crinkles like the leather! I love this purse and that was the only thing wrong with it, but it was unsightly. Took two pairs of boots in to be re-soled. The brown ones are around 7 years old, were looking really bad, and I was ready to throw them away but hated the idea of finding a pair to replace them. The heels on both of them blend perfectly, and he somehow made both pairs of boots look practically new. I wish I had a before photo to show the difference.... It's a big one! Highly recommend, went above and beyond just the re-sole that I asked for by cleaning them up all around. Very friendly, timely, and reasonably priced. Certainly worth the cost compared to adding to a landfill and spending tons of time to find new pairs of boots. This is my second or third time going here and each time I've been really happy. I was a fan of his work for a year or so until I was two weeks to leaving and my favorite purse broke. The handle just need to be stitched back to the purse, nothing way crazy. I too, it to him and he told me itd be like 6-8 weeks and $30. I told him I was leaving in 2 weeks was there anyway it could be done faster. He told me basically fat chance. I asked if he knew of another place that could do it quicker and was informed none that would be poor work and a waste of my time. I ended up taking my purse to a place in fortuna, they had it done in 3 days for $5 and 4 months later there is no sign that it's going to break again. I will never recommend Grundmans to anyone I know ever again. read more

Turn-around is not quick, but he does excellent work. We tried several Humboldt cobblers before finding Grundman' and he's the best locally and prices are very good. Just realize it will be a wait of several weeks. We've had men's soles and heels replaced and repaired. We've always been happy with the work done! It's the only place we go now. read more

I've been taking my shoes to Grundman's for many years, at least 20. I've always been highly satisfied with the work performed. The owner works alone, so there can be a bit of a wait. Definitely worth the wait! My Fryes were showing their age, with worn-out heels and a crack across the bottom, so I took them here to have them re-soled. They look and feel brand new! I really appreciate that the new soles are stitched on, rather than glued - feels much more durable. In total, it was about $75 and a month's wait, which I feel is fair for quality work, especially since Mr. Grundman works alone. Be prepared to pay about half up front as a deposit. read more

Long wait, but he does excellent work, on time, and at a good price. Mr Grundman is very friendly and seems that he enjoys his craft. I like to take my shoes and boots there for maintenance once or twice a year, and am considering using him for handbag repairs. One of my favorite pairs of pretty expensive shoes broke after not much wear, and he was able to fix them -better than new! - within a matter of minutes. This is addressed in part to the woman who took her purse strap in and was critical of Mr. Grundman telling her it would be several weeks.....well, you are not the most important person in the world, so get over your narcissism and self-importance. A lot of us have been waiting for several weeks at a time to get our shoes/boots/whatever back from him, for many years. He is an older man who has no one helping him at all. He is very honest, works hard, and always has one's belongings ready on the date he sets. If I were overwhelmed with work, I would feel I could charge an adequate amount, as well. He always does skilled work, and is justifiably proud of his efforts. read more

I thought for sure my boots needed new zippers, had gotten quotes from other leather shops averaging around $120, went to Grundman's because I had heard it was the best in town and less expensive, and he fixed my boots in 30 seconds!
