Not only will he not rip you off (which is already head and shoulders over most mechanics), but he will tell you what everything costs, what it COULD cost elsewhere, what it will cost if you don't tend to it, what you could put off for another day, what is necessary vs luxury repair, whether or not the repair is simple enough for you to do it yourself, and he breaks it all down in a way that someone who knows very little about cars will understand. He is ridiculously patient and has incredibly good and respectful "bedside manner". He goes the extra mile and will stay on the phone with you and text about all car concerns without getting huffy or jerky. And he won't discriminate against you no matter what walk of life you are from. I live in DC now and I *still* drive out to Philly when my car needs work (if it is that drivable). And if you are in the Philly area he will drive out to YOU to do most repairs if you need it, which is amazing for when you can't call out of work to get repairs done. With many old and newer European made cars in the front of his garage I recall that he was recommended some time ago by his daughter in law, I decided to consult him. After talking to him for a while I was convinced of his expertise and I gave him a deposit to order the parts and brought the car to him. Not only did he do an exceptional job on the car, in a very timely manner and very competitive prices- what impressed me more was his deep knowledge of the car , his professionalism , magnetic personality and most importantly the pride that he takes in his work. He stated that he is"old school" and showed me the old parts that he replaced. He was so thorough that he identified that the Mercedes factory actually installed a wrong pulley that caused very rough idling, an issue that the dealership never addressed during all these years.. This is a generation of mechanics that is quickly disappearing . I can only urge you if you are in the area and need a master mechanic to look at your car, to stop by Bruce's Auto Repair at 1711 Tilton Rd in Northfield. He even arranged for new tires to be installed at the request of the buyer at the last minute. He provided detailed starting instructions and shrink wrapped the old tires so we could ship them off with the car to the buyer in Germany. He didn't treat me poorly, didn't talk down to me, and not at all like I was a bother even though I seem to have called prior to the shop's opening. Omar still answered my call, kindly offered his advice, and got right to work on addressing my car's flat tire. I can't thank this kind soul enough for his compassion and understanding and he didn't try to gouge with pricing. To say he was way more than fair is an understatement.
