I would probably not come back here. The tailor was a nice man but I had 3 pairs of pants done and one dress. Each pair of pants I specified that I like them long and all were hemmed above where we had agreed when I initially took them in. None of my pants work now unless I'm wearing them low low low rise. On top do that I took a sheer dress with a detachable lining and I'd only asked for the outside dress to be hemmed. The lining was hemmed so short that my entire butt is out now and you can see through the dress. I'd also asked for the waist to be taken in and you can see the chalk is still there and it was not done. I am so disappointed. read more

I BEG OF YOU do not support this shop - for your own good! I brought a pair of pants for repair and a designer shirt for a tailoring job. When I picked up my pieces the pants were un repaired and the shirt poorly sewn and unfinished. I brought back the pieces for revisions. When I picked up the shirt I was utterly SHOCKED w the handiwork. I was charged $50 for the most crooked flat felled seams I've ever seen in my life. And one seam was sewn with TAN thread on a white shirt. The shirt is white raw silk so the seam can be seen from the outside. It is now effectively ruined because you can see any puncture holes made. The shop REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME MY $50 when I calmly and respectfully asked for a refund. I left thoroughly incensed and w hot tears streaming down my cheek. Wow, I wouldn't have thought I'd be raving about a positive experience I had at a cleaners, but here I go: I walked in with a jacket which had a broken zipper and torn fabric. I was immediately warmly welcomed when I walked in, and the man behind the counter instantly began working on the zipper. Two minutes later it was fixed. Next, the woman making alterations conjured up a quick fix for the torn fabric, and they handed me back the jacket with a smile. I was astonished they fixed both problems in less than 10 minutes, and when I asked how much I owe, they said "don't worry about it!". Incredible service. Thank you G's - I will be back! read more

I ran in to get a shearling coat cleaned and buttons replaced on a leather jacket. Found out that a shearling takes weeks to clean (bummer, needed it for a trip the same week), but young lady at the front gave me tips on how to freshen it up in the meantime! The customer service here is awesome! I dropped off a dress to have a zipper repaired. They were going to call me about the best way to fix it (the tailor wasn't there at the time) but they ended up forgetting. To make up for the mistake, they didn't charge me for my dry cleaning. THAT is customer service! So many other businesses would just shrug off a mistake. Besides that I've dropped off my dry cleaning a few times and they've always been returned to me in perfect condition. read more

This used to be my go to neighborhood place for years until they lost some very expensive pieces. The sad part is is that they tried to blame us for misplacing the item. We even paid for the item up front so we basically lost our money and our clothes. No offer of compensation or store credit or anything. My wife and I have filed a complaint with the bbb. Check your tags! I never check my tags when I drop off clothes, and I've never had a problem. Until G's Cleaners. I dropped off some shirts, including one - my best shirt - which needed a couple of new buttons. I received a tag saying I had dropped off 5 shirts. It really was 6, which I discovered later to my chagrin. Anyhow. Upon attempting to pick up said shirts, I noticed that the one that had to be fixed was not there. The owner said that there were five, and five there were. I asked her to show me where the new buttons were, she gave me a dazed look (her English was fine) and suggested I check at home. I suggested she check her store, when she gave me another dazed look. Thinking the best: this owner doesn't care very much. Thinking the worst: someone scored a really primo shirt. I think she didn't care (at least enough to check). In any case, there are plenty of other cleaners in the area. read more

I used G's cleaners on a whim when I was walking by and happened to be carrying some shirts that needed cleaning. The woman who works there was so friendly and helpful! I've been meaning to write a review for a while. This mother/son duo are miracle workers. Stains I think will never come out they can get out. It makes me wonder if they actually use magic. Also, they're very honest. I once came in with a zipper problem (the zipper kept falling down on my pants) and when I thought I needed to replace the entire zipper I was suggested to just move the button ( you can sew a button, right?) I feel like any other Brooklyn business would have used this as an opportunity to make more money. I've also had several dresses/skirts/pants altered there over the years. Be very careful getting anything repaired here. I'd never been to G's before, but the reviews we're so glowing I wanted to try them out. I called to get quotes on a suit and an evening gown, for cleaning along with a small repair on the inside hem of the gown. When I arrived, the woman at the register proceed to charge me more than the quoted price on each item, even though the girl that answered the phone and provided the prices was there as well. She ended up giving me the original prices on the suit, but almost twice as much on both the cleaning and mending of the gown. The gown is a full length wrap from Reformation, and since the rip was on the inside layer, I asked that they roll up the fabric in that one area, knowing that all the extra fabric would hide the unevenness. When I went to pick them up, there was still dirt all along the hem of the gown and I was told to return a week later, and they took off $5 for having to clean the gown again. Well, I just picked up the gown and instead of repairing the area on the inside hem, they took it upon themselves to hem the entire inside of the dress, and since it's a wrap dress, the hem is now completely uneven. The sides of the gown hit the floor as everything originally did, and the back barely hits the floor, but now the front is two inches off the floor, showing the entirety of my feet. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The owner just reached out to me and refunded the entire price, which was very kind. It seems like there may must have been some miscommunication along the line as their tailor normally doesn't cut fabric without specific instructions. read more

Kay (the owner) has always been really considerate and professional and I have never had a problem with bringing clothes to G's to be cleaned or tailored in about 5 years of using her business. In fact, I recently moved out of Wiliamsburg and thus started using another cleaner, but when my shirts came back with weird stains and smells I decided it's worth the extra train ride to get her level of quality and service. She's always polite and attentive and even remembers most of her customers by their first names- a minor miracle in any borough. I would like to rebut the review by "Daniel O." since obviously this dude made a mistake by admittedly not checking his tags, and he is trying to pass the blame onto someone else. read more

I have to agree with the negative reviews here unfortunately. This place used to be my go to but they seem to have gone downhill, starting with them ruining a winter coat of mine (I had to fight to get my money back), then ruining another pair of pants I had dry cleaned (I didn't bother for a refund here). I decided not to go back for dry cleaning any more, but that I would continue to go back for tailoring. After taking a dress there this week I was basically told by the older woman that I was "too big" for the dress and she refused to tailor it. For reference I am a size 0 or 2 dress size and know enough about sewing to know that it's possible to put darts in something to take it in. But she wouldn't take it in, only talked about 'letting out' the area of a stretchy dress she personally felt was too tight on me. This isn't the first comment of that sort she's made when I've gone for tailoring, either - another time she asked if a shirt was ripped because I "got too big for it". I assume that like me, you aren't visiting a tailor for someone's personal opinion on your body size. So if you want your stuff ruined or to be told you're fat, go here. If not, try somewhere else. read more

They're great. My husband and I drop-off items almost every week, and they are just the best. The shop is busy these days, so I try to avoid it prime-time hours. The clothes always come back in perfect condition, on time, and the tailoring is fab. Kay has taken in a few dresses for me, and even with a complicated pleated design, the nip-and-tuck was pristine. Tailoring is a time consuming job, and Kay charges appropriately. Ask ahead of time to avoid any sticker-shock if you're looking to get something complicated done. Since they are quite busy, I always check my tag/receipt because mistakes can happen (none at G's yet, but I've had clothes lost at other shops before). They're beyond nice, and my favorite cleaners in the neighborhood. read more

If I could give 0 stars, that would be more accurate. When I stained a brand new purse, the owner here said it was no problem to clean. The purse came back shredded - literally, fabric falling off in strips - and the owner insisted I dropped it off that way. Of course she couldn't fix it, but she was also extremely rude and wouldn't compensate me for even part of what it cost. I've never seen worse incompetence in 13 yrs in NYC. read more

I have been going to this place for 8 years and they have always done an amazing job. The last time I went there, the manager is no longer there and they lost my slip and a black sweater with little to no accountability. They made me feel like I lost it. I didn't realize it until after I was home, and have gone back multiple times to ask them about it and they don't seem dedicated to finding it. I paid for these items as well and never received them. Before coming here, I went to another dry cleaning place on court street. Though the court street cleaners are certified by the Wedding dress gods or something like that, they were going to charge me upwards of $500 to clean my wedding gown. Since that's almost half of what I paid for the gown, I decided to just go a cheaper route. I live not to far from G's and I saw they had a wedding dress cleaning ad in their window, so I figured it was worth a try. For about $160, they cleaned my organza gown perfectly (AND there were a few tough grass stain, floor stains and one or two make-up stains) and boxed it in a snazzy/fancy box! They lost my favorite dress and gave me a hard time about reimbursing me. I bought this dress in Europe, and can't replace it. The owner is a nice lady but extremely unhelpful. When she realized it was missing, she said she's look and would call. Two weeks pass, and no call. I go back, and she asks for more time to look. On the third visit, I meet her son, who said he felt bad but it happens. Also, they claimed that the back of my receipt said I was not entitled to the full value of the dress. That's not legally true - my boyfriend's a lawyer. After some haggling, I got the full price back. But I can't get that dress back. Thanks for nothing. read more

I like this place, they've done a good job with cleaning and alterations for my stuff, and the two people whom I've dealt with there are extremely nice. They did temporarily lose some of my shirts in the store once due to a paperwork error (and me not counting my stuff before leaving), and they were very apologetic about it when I came back; they'd found my extra items and put them aside for me, so in the end there was no problem. Totally forgivable, and now I just make sure to check every item before leaving. I'm happy to keep giving this place my business, especially because the owners are so pleasant. read more
