Especially for all your work on the most solid porch ever! I will highly recommend your company to others for making the process smooth and easy for me, your obvious decades of experience and expertise, and for being such a considerate crew. ~Martha

We used him for the deck inspection before we purchased our home and liked him. We did get another bid to tear down and build our deck and that bid was 10k more. We never saw a formal plan for the deck but we discussed in detail what would be done. No permit was pulled as the deck would not be attached to the house and it would have added to the final expense. In hind sight, we should have pulled a permit. I am not new to construction and had concerns early on with the layout of the supports for the deck. The holes were dug and the 4x6 posts were installed in the ground with concrete that was below grade and not crowned. I was unaware at the time that minimum code requires 6x6 supports and that our quote specified 6x6's. I trusted Andy. I also noticed that the supports were not aligned or level height. I spoke with Andy and he assured me that he knew what he was doing. As the work progressed, they were using nails instead of screws to attach the decking. I asked about this and was told that the screws would not last as long as the nails and that in recent years the quality of the screws had worsened. I began to question everything and started researching deck requirements in Tennessee. I learned that Dickson county uses IRBC 2017 requirements. The deck has to be built to code. Permitted or not. When the deck was completed it was not to code and is unsafe. I hired and engineer to inspect the deck and his report showed the major issues with the supports being incorrect size, improperly installed and the span in several places exceeded code. One area was not supported at all. The guard rail is improperly installed and not to code. I can move the railing without much force and parts of the deck are ten feet in the air. The joists are not correctly supported and over spanned in several areas. The stairs were not done to code, the gates don't work. Trying to be a fair man I sent a copy of the report to Andy. He argued that he knows better than the engineer but he said that he would make the repairs as time permitted. He and Waylon came out several times and added some supports, tried to fix the gates and added some structure to the weak areas. The last time they came out was kind of an FU! The upper gates are worse than before and I don't trust them to do anything. In hind sight I would not let them build a dog house. We payed north of $22,000.00 and I have to rebuild my new deck. The nails make it so I will have to ruin most of it taking it apart. Do not use this company. They are not qualified.
