Have used ModerNash twice now since there are certain IKEA products I like and ever since moving to the Nashville are don't have easy access to a store. They are very communicative and help you find other options if something isn't in stock. Customer satisfaction is certainly a priority at ModerNash and I experienced it firsthand on a few occasions. My boyfriend has been a ModerNash customer for a bit now but I was still reserved when we popped into the showroom right after my recent move to a new space. In the past, I have always opted for large scale pieces of furniture but with the layout of the new loft, this approach was neither practical or cohesive. So. I have finally decided to check out the IKEA approach but with convenience thanks to ModerNash. That's right... no voyage to Hot-lanta to shop or pay costly shipping charges. Nope, none of that nonsense. All I have to do is choose what I want straight from the IKEA catalog and if I have any questions or need input, the staff here is happy to indulge me with their expertise and design skills. The showroom here is helpful as it features a nice edited version of lighting, storage, furniture, accessories, appliances, and more! The mister surprised me by purchasing a couple of fantastic overhead lights for my space ($39 each) and even though it was weeks later before I was able to schedule an electrician in who noticed that one of the lights was slightly damaged, ModerNash still swapped out the light for me. No. Problem. My understanding is that that they trek down to IKEA on Wednesdays so you must place your order by Saturday evening to ensure that your order make the cut-off for that week. You then are able to pick up your goods on Friday. The owner was super helpful and friendly along with any of the staff that we have come across. I am definitely going to purchase a large organizer and more items from them in the near future! TIP: They also offer delivery, installation, and assembly services too. read more

I heard from a friend about a company that goes to Ikea in Atlanta once a month and takes orders for people. I thought it was too good to be true until I googled "Ikea Nashville" and ModerNash popped up. I had fallen in love with a White Ikea Malm Bed Frame that was $149.00. Every time I checked the availability on Ikea's site for the Altanta store it said it wasn't in. I checked on having shipped here and that would have cost an additional $200 (more than the bed itself!). After attempting to find another bed, I decided I didn't want to give this one up and submitted my order on ModerNash's site. A few weeks later I got an email telling me when and where I could pick up my bed. The best part was that they only charged me $52 to deliver it. I would have spent that much just to drive there and not fit in my little car. When I went to pick it up I was kinda confused though, because the place that it's located is also a Party Supply place, which threw me off. Few shopping excursions are more exciting than going to Ikea to get some cool looking furniture at a reasonable price. Plus they have meatballs! Anyway, few things suck more than driving to the Ikea down in ATL. I mean - UGH - ATL traffic sucks and the Ikea is located really inconveniently near many highways full of traffic. So until an Ikea locates itself here in Nashville you have to go to ATL. OR you can hit up ModerNash. This place takes treks down to Ikea once or twice per week (check the countdown clock on their web page to see when the next trip is) and brings back your order. They will bring it to the store or deliver it to your house for an extra fee. Whaaaa? No trip to ATL? Nope. They also will come and put your furniture together for a fee (sometimes this may be worth it depending on what you buy) and even do the entire kitchen design/installations. Not only that, but they also have popular items in stock! IN STOCK! Ikea furniture RIGHT NOW! They have a list of their in stock items right there on the website. I was in the market for an inexpensive desk to put in one of my extra bedrooms and I found one in stock at ModerNash for only $109. I drove over to the industrial wasteland to find a cozy store full of Ikea items. They didn't have the desk put together, but they showed me another desk in their office so we could measure height and I could sit at the desk and see if it was what I wanted. It was. So they went and got the box out of the back, I paid, then the lovely guy working there put it in my car. Will it fit in a convertible Mustang. Damn skippy it will! They know how to fit that stuff in your car but be sure to ask if you are buying something really big. So within the week I finally put the desk together and it is perfect. Perfect size, etc. And, side note, Ikea instructions and assembly have become easier over the years or I am just getting better at it because it didn't take me half the day complete with side fits of cursing just to put it together. The wheels are turning as we gear up to make a move across town. Our new space is definitely different than what we're used to, which is awesome. BUT, it has also thrown some serious design curve balls. I'll be totally honest, I always thought Ikea was nothing but a bunch of cheaply-made crap, and only poor college students would ever dare to purchase their items. Yes, I was wrong. Throughout the last few years, I've seen a few pieces of their furniture sitting at various friends' homes. Of course, I was surprised to learn it was made by Ikea. Very surprised. So when it came down to "Oh, crap - we've got to purchase new furniture for EVERY friggin' room in the house", finding unique/custom pieces, followed by moments of realizing how much it will all cost - I immediately downloaded an Ikea catalog on my phone and started browsing. I knew this ModerNash place existed, but obviously never paid them much attention. Now knowing I would likely order a few things from Ikea, and 1. our shipping costs would probably be outrageous 2. I sure as heck don't want to drive to Atlanta... I thought I would at least check them out. Their website is very informative, and I was surprised to discover they also have a showroom. So we ran over to take a peek. We were warmly greeted by Alicia as she encouraged us to have a look around and "play". I loathe purchasing goods online without having a chance to experience what I'm buying, so this was just perfect. While the showroom is really small with only a few pieces (hence the four stars), it gave us the chance to see, feel, sit, open and close various fabrics, textures, and furniture. Alicia certainly gave us plenty of time to wander around and talk amongst ourselves, while remaining readily available for our multiple questions. She even showed us how we could design and build our own entertainment center, by strategically purchasing pieces to create our masterpiece. I dig it. ModerNash now makes a weekly trip to Atlanta, making the wait time minimal. Their website explains the process very well, but the gist of it is... order cutoff every Saturday, truck runs on Wednesday, then you pick up your items the following Saturday. Luckily, they also offer home delivery, assembly, and installation (one of or all three) for an additional fee(s). I'm a pretty handy chick, but it's nice to know if I get in a bind while trying to assemble a piece, I can give ModerNash a call for a little help. Since these guys have been in business for a bit, there's not much they haven't assembled or installed at this point. ModerNash really helped me out a LOT when I moved from California to Nashville. I looked in to ordering a desk and dresser from Ikea and having them shipped to my Nashville address but shipping came out to $300 (!?!?!?). Obviously I could have bought a whole other piece of furniture with that, so I opted not to order it and went in to a small panic about how I was going to furnish my new room before school. The other option is driving to Atlanta but that would have taken me a whole day. This is where ModerNash comes in! You download a little toolbar icon and drag what you want from Ikea in to your ModerNash cart. The prices for the furniture are the same and they charge you a scaling fee for shipping. ModerNash then drives to Atlanta and picks out what you ordered. My desk and dresser came out approx $550 and shipping was $110 which is a STEAL in comparison to getting it shipped from Ikea. ModerNash also offers the option of home delivery and set up (they can build those pesky Ikea products for you). We had a few hang-ups with my desk and I ended up getting it a couple weeks late but ModerNash did a free delivery for me and even refunded me my shipping cost to make up for it. We ordered a Karlstad sofa and Expedit shelves for a DIY project and all our items arrived on time and with no issues. We needed a new bedroom suite and had an idea of what we were looking for but didn't know how it'd fit in our room. Modern Nash helped me make sure the items would fit in the room by helping me figure out measurements of the new furniture. After ordering it, we had them deliver and install. Delivery was really fast, within 7 to 10 business days of order and they installed. IKEA furniture can be complicated to install and the wardrobe we picked out was a beast and would have taken me weeks to put together. The install team was great and install the huge PAX wardrobe, bed and dresser in one day! They were very professional and I would absolutely recommend them and purchase again. read more

My grandmother bought my wife and I 3 pieces from ModernNash/Ikea which we picked up the day after we moved into our apartment. Not only were they nice enough to hold it a few extra weeks as we were moving, but their customer service was second to none. Yes, you have to pay for shipping/transport costs, but it is a local business... and when you shop local, everyone wins. Great experience, totally recommend this place for a MALM or a IVAR or whatever your IKEA need is. I had known of this company for years, but it hadn't even occurred to me to try it until I suddenly needed a PELLO. And a few SKUBB. And a HOLMO. These guys had the furniture/etc ready even sooner than we expected, and we were able to swing by and pick it up. Nice showroom, staff was really friendly. IKEA assembly can be a drag, and we had a little trouble with our PELLO and thought it might be defective. ModerNash said to bring it by, and showed us exactly what we were doing wrong and even offered to help us assemble it right there. Definitely using these guys again, the whole experience was positive and it was so much less a hassle than driving to Atlanta myself when I need a SKUBB real, real bad. read more

This was the first time we've ever had a kitchen remodel, and ModerNash made it easy for us. We had an unusual request where we needed a cabinet style that was being discontinued, and they went above and beyond to get all the needed pieces from multiple stores. My recommendation: go ahead and pay them to do the measurements for the kitchen (which we did), and they will credit you back if you do the project with them. Our ceiling was not consistent in height and their measuring guy didn't catch it, so one cabinet had to be disassembled, cut down to size, and reassembled. Fortunately, ModerNash took responsibility and made everything right. The whole process was painless, and I wouldn't hesitate to go with them again. read more

I just moved here from Michigan where I had an IKEA 20 mins away. I furnished/decorated one of our bedrooms with IKEA, but hadn't gotten the bed yet when it was time to move. I was disappointed when I got to Nashville and realized there was no IKEA and even more bummed when their website informed me they wouldn't/couldn't ship the bed I wanted. (And the shipping cost was close to $300!) I was on Yelp looking for furniture stores in the area and found ModerNash. They made it soooo easy to order what I wanted, and shipping is only going to cost approx $100! So much easier than driving hours to the nearest IKEA, especially since I would have to rent a larger vehicle for the trip. So convenient and appropriately priced! Will definitely use them again. As an Ikea customer in New York I appreciate its modern style and know first hand that its assembly by pictures requires pictorial genius as well as just the right tools to put the pieces together. They were impressive setting up the pieces (table and 4 chairs, bookcase, bedside table, towel bar) in a short amount of time and for removing all packing material. Another happy camper. I ordered a CD shelf to match a desk I'd bought myself at Ikea, and - wow! - they bought it two days later, and I received an email with pickup information right away. Their warehouse is super easy to get to, right off I-65. There's plenty of free parking and there are just no issues around it at all. The only issue is this: They're only open for pickup on Saturdays, so if you have a conflict you should let them know right away or arrange for home delivery, which really isn't that expensive. I had a mixup on my pickup date involving some missed communication on both our parts and Nick delivered my shelf for free. Now that's service! I'd use these guys again like a shot. They're pretty good. Open 6 days a week. I ran in 10 minutes before closing on a Saturday and was able to get what I wanted before closing. Since there's no Ikea in Nashville, this is the main option. This or order online. Anyway, they charge you what ikea would charge you for the item plus $100 for well, I guess their profit or maybe the cost of them making the trip to the Atlanta Ikea. You still have to build it yourself or pay them to build it for you. The main advantage of buying from here is that they have it available immediately. And if you were to order directly from ikea online, Ikea charges about $100 for shipping too so same price! The best possible choice would be for Ikea to exist in Nashville where the items would be available immediately and cheaply, but thats obviously not a choice just yet. For now, I'm a fan of ModerNash. read more

I needed a bookcase from IKEA to complete a bedroom. Price from IKEA 190 dollar delivered to my door, 87 dollars (plus wasting a day driving to Memphis and back) or 130 dollars from ModerNash. Since gas isn't cheap these days, ModerNash a no brainer for this purchase. Bottom line, unless you are making a huge IKEA purchase, ModerNash is a great way to go if you value your time more than a few bucks. I will be using them for my future IKEA shopping needs and recommend them without reservation. read more

I'm super impressed with ModerNash! I ordered an outdoor table that was out of stock on their first trip to the store. Josh called me that day letting me know that they couldn't get the table, but would try again on their next trip. Worried the table would be out of stock everywhere, I found it for sale through a third party online (for $200 more than my ModerNash total would be), and emailed ModerNash to say I was going to cancel my order. Ryan emailed me back within minutes and encouraged me to stick with them - they were sure they could get the table for me on the next trip. And they did! We had a wonderful experience with ModerNash kitchen and bathroom cabinet installation. Nick was so helpful in tweaking our Ikea kitchen design (which we purchased through IKD, www.inspiredkitchendesign.com) and was extremely flexible with scheduling around our contractor. The install guys, especially Travis, were punctual, professional, and extremely skilled. They showed up on the day and time they said they would and were done on the day they said they would. They made extra trips back over the following weeks to finish trimming out the cabinets after the appliances were in. My son graduated from college in May 2013 and accepted a job in Nashville. He had been told about ModerNash from a future co-worker and we decided to check out their service. We live in south FL and have a local IKEA but had never shopped there. After a few trips to our IKEA and a conversation and multiple emails with Ryan from ModerNash, we were able to come up with a selection of items which wouldn't break the budget and would outfit a small apartment nicely. Ryan was extremely patient and entertained all of my questions, even those regarding the best sized bed for a small bedroom. He was very knowledgable regarding the IKEA brand and was able to make recommendations when asked. Ryan further advised that with a little patience, he was confident that my son and his father would have no trouble assembling the furniture. There was never any attempt to "sell" their assembly service but when asked regarding cost, Ryan was able to give me quotes related to specific items.
