I found Carpe Diem. The store is small and off a highway in some industrial shops. It's not a huge shop but is not limited in what they have. They are also open every other day due to schools being out of session. And they ask for your drivers license when you go in... I'm not sure why... but it is what it is. I think they require student ID if you're a student. They said they gave teacher discounts too but I was not offered anything when I went in. They had everything I needed and more. I like to get copic refills, and they have them behind the counter. I'm sure it's to prevent theft. Michael's and Blick does the same thing. You can find all the painting and illustration supplies you need. They have a selection of craft woods and tools along with clay, etc.... Carpe Diem is my new home base for the art supply. I'll definitely send my design students here and will be back for all my artistic supplies.

I walked into the store and noticed it was really crowded. That being said, I went straight to the rear, grabbed some supplies that I needed, and walked directly to the register area. After waiting for approximately 10 min, the cashier looked at several customers, including myself, and stated he was closed. Very frustrated, I walked to a different line. Since I was desperate and in need of the merchandise, I stayed and waited patiently until it was my turn to pay. My main complaint was not the amount of time I stood in line or the amount of customers. It was the way the closed line was handled. If a line is closed, there needs to be a sign or some indication that the line is closed. A customer should not have to stand in line for any period of time, only to be told it is closed. That's poor management, and customer service in my opinion. During the holidays, Hobby Lobby should have more cashiers. That place is always crowded, and it would be nice to know that you are not gonna be standing in a line for 30 min before you can return or purchase. I

For the latest updates on events, follow their instagram @colormeminecovina! They have so many special events that cater to various interests and groups and ages and truly anyone can enjoy here. I came back for my 5th time on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend and we had the best time. We chose the 6:30p-8:30p slot, and paid $50 for the special event table reservation (included a couples caricature). I know they had a later Valentine's reservation slot from 9-11pm and those couples got a little heart shaped trinket tray as part of their $50 fee. The table reservation cost does NOT include the price of the pottery you choose. They have a wide selection of pottery pieces you can choose from at varying price points so everyone can find something they will love to paint during the time. They had a new astrology jar with a lid that i've never seen before and instantly fell in love. My partner needed a bit more time to choose a piece, and decided on a dragon wrapped around a tower that will include a tea light for later to light up the tower (super cool). The two pieces were less than $100 total ($36 for the jar and $54? for the tower dragon) which is around the price I was expecting to pay. Note that my boyfriend and I showed up at 6:15 to look at the pottery early and we were thankful we did because it gave us extra time to paint without feeling a super tight time crunch. The staff was super sweet and attentive and remembered me from past times I've been there, which makes me feel more comfortable and happy there. They were checking tables frequently and making sure paint was always available and refilled for our use. They also gave us time checks to let us know how much time we had left which was appreciated. It is important to remember that 1 coat will leave a lighter finish while 3 coats will create a more opaque finish. They had a card on the table that said more than 3 coats of paint can warp your piece during the drying process or even cause an explosion due to trapped air between paint layers so do be aware! You also have to leave your pottery for up to a week so it can fully dry and bake in the kiln so the glaze hardens and becomes all shiny and beautiful. I have been happy with every piece I have made at Color Me Mine Covina and I will definitely keep recommending it to those around me because it really is that fun and enjoyable of an experience.

Fortunately we were able to finish designing and painting our pieces within the 2-hour timeframe and we were told our items would be available for pickup in 5-7 days. If you happen to need more time to paint, I believe you can finish painting at home or book another painting session.
