GT was recommended to me by a colleague. I initially went by and saw a sign that they are doing appointments only for the winter- not a problem. I emailed, as per the sign. I sent my initial email on Thursday at the end of the day and received an email back on Monday, around mid day. They let me know they could meet my needs and asked me to come by either Wednesday or Thursday, my choice. I responded that I could come by Thursday and I asked about the cost of the service. No response. I went by Thursday at the appointed time and there was no one at the store. The doorbell that I was supposed to ring was missing- I'm not blaming them for that, however. I knocked, called, emailed, and then knocked again. No response. I never received a follow-up, and it's been 11 days. I'm hoping that everyone there is safe and healthy and that the reason for their lack of response was simply bad customer service. I took my business elsewhere. read more

My father passed away when I was 18 months old. I discovered some 8mm and 16mm reels that he had shot. GT not only skillfully digitized these reels, they stayed open until 8PM the night before I flew back to Europe to my family so I could have a USB drive with the footage. No paragraph or words can describe the service Connie has done for me. I had my brothers funeral 8mm video to convert to DVD's. I checked Costco which takes 2 months they send it off out of state to have it done, called Walgreens & Walmart and their service is about the same 4-8 weeks because they send it as well. So I searched on Yelp for a Video place that could convert my videos quickly. I seen the reviews for GT recording. I called & explained my situation to Gordon and he told me to bring them in and Connie would help. I love Connie she was very sweet and understanding, she charged me for converting three 8mm videos to DVD but felt bad for all that my family has been through and wouldn't let me pay a portion on my card. I just want to say thank you for the compassion you've shown. If you are thinking of converting VHS to DVD this is the place! I had the itch to preserve old family videos to digital. They converted the VHS to A thumb drive in a reasonable amount of time. I then edited the video at home and sent it back to have converted to DVD. They did an amazing job and also added chapters as well. Definitely affordable and the quality is top notch! read more

This negative review is not for the mediocre quality of the DVDs (because maybe the tape quality was poor, giving GT the benefit of the doubt), and it's not for the $50 higher price than was estimated, although that was unpleasant. My negative review is for my frustration level after talking to Gordon the owner. I called to ask if either he could review a VHS tape before copying or if he knew were I could review it because I wanted to avoid another sticker shock, and before I could complete the sentence, he got defensive, rude, and continued to talk over me. After a minute or so I hung up, kind of stunned that the conversation deteriorated so quickly and unprofessionally. He called back a few minutes later and continued to be rude, talking over me again and again not listening, so I informed him I would take my business elsewhere and hung up again. I wonder if he talks over men like that... The conversation was odd and unnecessarily negative because I wasn't annoyed when I called and hoped he could help me find a place, but, talking to Gordon, it didn't take long to realize the conversation was pointless. If you do go, get an estimate in writing. $180 is quite a bit higher than the $125 I was quoted, which I knew was a ballpark figure. There were added fees I wasn't expecting, the quality is poor, and worse, the customer service stinks. The store space itself is depressing and unprofessional looking. I will find another place to transfer my VHS tapes. If anybody knows of one, I'm all ears. read more

I've had very bad experience. Connie, person who transfers files into digital, is rude and not customer oriented. When I asked for a quote, I wasn't told the fee they charge for flash card. Apparently if you bring your own flash card, they charge $15 for the transfer. You might get that fee waved as a huge favor, but be prepared to hear about the exception they made multiple times and get blamed for not knowing there are charges they haven't told you about. I've lived in Seattle for 15 years and have never met such unprofessional and confrontational attitude towards customer. read more

I've helped put on an annual seminar for a local professional society for the past four years. We put together booklets with CD glued in the back. GT Recording has done the CD copying for us for each of the past 4 years. It has been a pleasure working with these folks. They are very kind, fast and reliable. This year after they had finished making the main copies, I realized, at the last minute, that I needed an additional 150 copies made. I went here to make DvD copies. I had trouble finding a place that would just do a few, but GT Recording was willing to do a small amount of copies. They even pulled the picture off of my original to imprint onto the copies. Their prices were very reasonable (less expensive than the 2 other businesses I called who had a minimum of 100). They were very friendly and prompt in getting my order finished. They even called me as they found a discrepancy in what I had written and wanted to confirm what I wanted on one of the DvD copies. I was very happy that GT Recording was able to accommodate my job (digitizing an old cassette tape) on a very short deadline, despite the other jobs they had to do, and that they broke each side of the tape into manageable tracks of about 5-12 mins. each. This place is excellent and Connie is superb. I had an important family project for my 91 year old mother that included placing some family video files on DVD-ROMs but, more importantly, creating a label with her picture and other lettering that had to be nicely spaced and aesthetic. After giving them the jpeg image of my mother (and what lettering I wanted), I received PDFs of 3 possible labels e-mailed to me.
