GTM's in general have changed a lot in my opinion. I used to love going every Sunday to browse and do some shopping. I feel like the deals are not the same anymore. The coupons or points are harder to get and unable to apply to your items a lot. Also why is mostly everything expired, I know shelf life is longer than the date shown but most of the items I've purchased also do not taste too fresh. Yes the prices are sometimes great but I also see a lot of regular prices like detergent etc. the lines are typically long. There's plenty of parking near the store. read more

I have shopped at GTM for many years, starting with the one in downtown San Diego. Pretty much everything I wear and a lot of what I eat comes from here. They get stuff from Costco so it's fun for me to compare my price for an item to what my friends paid at Costco (where I also shop). It is like a treasure hunt so when I see a food I like I stockpile it. Thankfully I have a freezer. I especially like their tofu and soy products. I wish there was more low fat yoghurt. Some days I get a lot of stuff and on very rare occasions I walk out empty handed. It would be great if there were more stores in the area. read more

Our local GTM (others in Lemon Grove and Santee) but this is definitely my favorite location! I grew up going to the Lemon Grove location as a kid and knowing there was a GTM close to where I live now, my wife and I have made this a regular spot to grab any snacks and groceries. It's always a fun hunt when shopping GTM since it is somewhat of a surplus store, so the selection will always vary, with many items nearing or just past the "best by" dates. I would use your best judgement with these dates depending on what you are buying. We've found many good new food brands we've always wanted to try but are normally too expensive in retail stores or online, but at GTM the discounts are abundant, making trips here for snacks/groceries worth it! I would recommend following their instagram account to keep updated on what new products are being stocked at each store for the best idea of when to pull up. Staff is always friendly and welcoming as eager to help you get your discounts. Don't forget to check their website for coupons! What is not to love about the GTM stores... times have changed, and so have couponing at GTM stores. So sad. While they have coupons galore on most weeks and special holiday weekends, those coupons now come with a lot more exclusions than ever before. I love that they post on social media accounts what the store are getting in stock. It makes it easier as they do have 3 locations, and while you could hit all 3 in one day... if you are anything like me, you are scouring the aisles and carts (for stuff not yet stocked but available) for the steal deals and I use Wally World (aka Walmart) as my cheaper alternative to finding the average price and costco... it is always the same price as Costco (before coupons) or a little cheaper. Some items have increased, as I'm sure their costs have increased, so it's always sad to have paid a certain price and then see it listed even higher. The coupons make it easier to shop! Well known name brands at minimal prices, shopping here is a no-brainer. I forgot my make-up artillery kit at home and had an important engagement after work. I came here and I was surprised that I could mix & match known and lesser known brands to come together for a fabulous look. I'm so over paying $60 for foundation. I found the Revlon tru-match, paired it with bronzer and Oilá -tru match like the high priced. IMO, this is a place to shop if you are a beginner or expert makeup artist. Between YouTube University and TikTok College, you can find comparable make-up/facial care products at GTM. I am truly disappointed in this GTM, the others are nicer and friendlier employees. The employees and MANAGEMENT do not care, are nasty, have major attitude and unhelpful. On several occasions I inquired about pricing on items, many times have multiple different prices and will not honor their sales prices or the signs posted in the store. Management is rude. It is too bad the Otay Mesa one closed, it was so small but friendlier people and better prices. I really do not want to patronize this specific GTM. Many open items and stolen stuff, management do not do their jobs or care for customer service or store appearance. I do like the other GTMs just not the Chula Vista one. read more

Honestly, you guys were better off shutting down this location as opposed to the Lemon Grove location. Lemon Grove location had better customer service. Never have I had an issue bringing my dog to lemon groves store. I had all my stuff in my cart and walked around for over 15minutes. Nobody told me upon coming that we aren't allowed to have dogs. I lined up to pay and thats when they want to tell me I can't serve you because you have a dog. I've honestly been a loyal customer and drove so far to get to this location that this has honestly caused such an inconvenience. If your employees had an issue with the dog they should have said something the minute I walked in not at check out. I have walked by so much employees no comment except by that older lady with glasses(A Literal Karen So Beware. She worked behind the counters that are locked up next to the entrance door). Honestly, I feel like the whole crew wasn't even bothered by it so why trip once I even get to the register. A reasonable response could have been a warning for future reference and let me pay. It's not my fault if other employees were not on the same page but also I'm visible to employees with my dog for 15+ minutes like don't have me wait in line only to turn me around. My dog literally wasn't causing any issues and he was calm during the time being that I was there. I honestly would give this place 0 stars. read more

Messy store. I walked in, took a stroll around and walked right out. Now I did visit a week or two before Christmas so I'm assuming it's better and organized (maybe) the rest of the year. The staff looked very stressed and busy. I use to go to the GTM store in Lemon Grove and loved it so I was excited to check this one out but was very disappointed. In times like this it's heartbreaking to see people be so barbaric. I spoke to the manager and no follow-up has occurred. This place needs to fire Silvia because she ruins the entire store. GTM stores appear to have some sort of business relationship with Costco b/c you will find a lot of familiar items here if you're a frequent Costco shopper. The cool thing is that with certain appliances & other household items (faucets, shower heads, etc.) that seem to be brand new in packaging but at a fraction of the original Costco price. There's also lots of clothing ranging from North Face to Costco's own Kirkland branded items. You can even get Costco-sized fruit snacks and chips for a discount too. There are brand new Star Wars figurines, new in box, for $0.67! Yuppppp. It feels like some items here may have been previously returned, but it doesn't seem like the case for everything. Everything is cheaper than you would normally find it elsewhere, so it's a definite plus but it's real hit-or-miss. A good place to go to kill some time or to hunt for something you may have passed up and is no longer being sold at Costco. Paradise for all of the bargain hunters out there! read more

this store is just not selling anything worth going there for. you can save a few cents here and there but you will end up going to your favorite store that just may have these same items you may find at GTM. you also must understand that items in GTM can be buy-outs, close-outs And some of these items may also have a very close approaching expiration date. the GTM location out near brown field in Otay closed. it was small and a mess of everything or simply had empty shelves. the Chula Vista location is quickly becoming the same. read more

Good prices but lines are moving way too slow. 6 ft is barely happening amongst people and the line is crammed into the aisles with one person moving every 5 min or so. I went in day before yesterday to buy queen sheets and a comforter for the bed in my second bedroom. I found both! On the way to that section I saw these really soft warm looking robes! I couldn't help it, I had to to have one! I could only get 25% off two items. I purchased the robe anyway! I very seldom buy anything without using coupons or rewards! So glad I purchased it! It was actually almost two warm but winter isn't here yet! The young lady that helped me was awesome! Her attitude and demeanor you see so seldom these days! She was smiling, courteous, professional and went out of way to help me! I am a senior and I have rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. At times my hands and fingers don't do what I want them to do. They're stiff, it makes me clumsy. It's embarrassing, makes me anxious because I feel like I'm holding up the line! She helped me in such a way that I knew she cared and she made it so much easier for me! I left there with a smile on my face! Her name is Ann and she is a real asset for this company or any company she worked at! I love the customer at Nordstrom! I go to Nordstrom Rack quite often! It would be great if all stores or businesses of any kind to have people like Ann as one of their employees! Again, I felt she was amazing! I went back today to purchase two more robes.
