Updated 2025 review. What can I say, I still come here from time to time to check out the inventory. It really is hit or miss. Once upon a time, one of my favorite hidden gems of Chula Vista has become a regular priced store. The selection for the most part still varies... but they always have shoes, clothing, household items, bedding amd furniture along with holiday or seasonal items. The back section inside is now blocked, it use to house more furniture. The warehouse is located next door... unfortunately im not sure if they are just relaxing in times... but I've been here right at opening and nothing is set up, until you are walking in and they are bringing stuff out. So a little inconvenient when your coming to look, shop and leave... the setup remains the same as they have clothing bins for you to rummage through. There is always a $1 basket or bin of clothes available. Discounted shoes and household items. I've never had bad customer service here, but as usual the prices pretty much match normal store prices now. Not sure if they are not getting much of a deal on their end or just raising the prices regardless. Even with the discounts, some items its not worth it and definitely check expiration dates on food items. If you have time to rummage through or price check, this place could be for you. Most of my visits I've left empty handed and gone to GTM, but other times I've found some bargains still. Coming into 2026, I hope they remain in business. This guy is on marketplace and was posting a Woo zoo fan for sale. The ad said $29 plus tax, but then the end of the ad it says we do not charge sales tax! So I messaged him on marketplace and he says no we do charge sales tax. Please read carefully. So I go back in to read, and he actually changed the ad where it says "we do not charge sales tax"! This place has some great finds and excellent customer service! A lot or maybe all is from Costco and you have to look a bit but def some diamonds in the ruff there. Scored some generic Uggs for $20 and slippers for $10, both new. Also scored a pair of new Vuori joggers for $50! Staff was so helpful both times and during my last visit today, my rear window basically exploded in their lot, due to some crazy defect. Anywho, they came out with a bag and one of them even helped to sweep my car out. Highly recommend Daves! read more

Poor customer service. Rude staff. Parking is atrocious. They start putting everything away an hour before they close so half of the store is inaccessible. They sell broken items so check your merchandise before you leave the store as some items are final sale. I've been burned several times Avoid this establishment at all costs. read more

Used to really like this store but they never have anything new here. They were closed this past Monday to "deliver new inventory" so I go in today after work to see what was new and they had the same shit from the last time I was there smh. Do better. One of my favorite stores! They sell Costco items for a fraction of the price. A lot of their things though, are missing a few of its contents, has a torn or damaged container/box, etc. so you have to be okay with that. For example, a box of fruit snacks might be dented and missing 3 candies but it'll cost $7 rather than the $15 at Costco. It's a hit or miss on what they have but every time I come here, I always come out with something. I've saved a lot of money coming here for suitcases, fans, office supplies, leggings, kitchen/bath items. The parking lot is very small but I've always managed to get a spot. read more

I bought a lot of items just now and spent less than five minutes loading them in my car when I was approached by an angry man saying I can't just park here because that's loitering. Very unprofessional and douchey. You can check the cameras I was not loitering. Maybe learn some manners for your customers. read more

Went back two days later and also loaded up my shopping cart . I will shop regularly from now on. This place is so cool! There's new/different stuff all the time, so I suggest checking back often to see what items they have. It's a bit of a free-for-all here. But what can I say? Do not waste your time coming to Dave's "wholesale". Scarfs for $20, printers for $140, kids jeans for $12+ and other very disappointing "wholesale" prices. They are pallet buyers so a lot of the items will be out of retail box, store returns(passed off as "new", potentially damaged returns and like it's mentioned everywhere "all sales are final" read more

Staff/Owners do not accommodate customers who want to know weights of incomplete packages to determine price/# or oz. - always, "We do not weigh anything for anybody". BE AWARE! Dave's Wholesale is NOT in compliance with CA Dept. of Weights & Measures (sdcawm@sdcounty.ca.gov (858) 694-2739). 8+ times I informed Owner/Management that they were not following CA regulations and they said to me, "Do what you have to do, but they were not changing anything for me". So I reported them to CA Dept of Weights & Measures, and accordingly they determined that Dave's Wholesale is NOT in Compliance and that they would return to educate them and fine them if they continue to NOT be in compliance. Dave's always goes back to his old ways of keeping a half bottle of shampoo marked 16 oz. when it is clearly NOT. Last time I went into Dave's, the Owner kicked me out immediately and told me never to return. So, Customers, if they continue to NOT be in compliance, it is up to you to contact CA Department of Weights & Measures, since I am not allowed in store anymore to check on them. read more

Went to Dave's today and purchased a box of Food Saver bags. I asked the girl working the counter if they had been opened and she said no. When I got them home and opened the box 3 of the 5 rolls 80% gone. I called the store to talk to the manager and she was to busy to talk to me. I was told to just bring the product back for a refund. I live in El Cajon and Dave's is in Chula Vista 30 minutes away. That is why I asked if the box had been opened. The price on the box was $40.00 with 30% off, Costco sells the same Item for $39.00. Like in many other complaints, Dave's changes the prices when you get to the register. If that's not enough, they sell USED face and body creams pretending they're new. My friend bought bedding from them last week and just told me the Dave's bedding has bedbugs! Do not risk your health to shop there and maybe save a few bucks. read more

Came here on a Friday afternoon, after a co worker had mentioned this place. Unfortunately was truly disappointed. Allot of the items seemed to be Costco returns ( initially seeing the cardboard bins of dusty and used paper shredders and vacuums). I am amazed at how people think they are getting a great deal. There prices are retail with discounts. A lot of the products are returned items. They still put the retail price on it and mark it down 25%. I came today looking for a deal on a tv and they have opened box tv's at 900.00 less 25% off. WTF? Went to Dave's today and was really disappointed with their customer service. One employee told me there was a 7 day warranty on the irons and the cashier said there was only a 3 day warranty and went on to scold me because I plugged in the iron to make sure it worked.. which the other employee even assisted me in showing me where to plug it in to make sure it worked. When I informed the cashier and pointed to the employee who assisted me that employee blatantly lied and said she couldn't remember doing that. It hadn't even been 15 minutes. On 10/31/13 I was at the checkout counter at Dave's Wholesale paying for $15 worth of products with a debit card. The cashier, B. Esparanza, asked for my I.D. At first I assumed she was going to ring up the purchase as a credit but that was not the case. I was surprised because I've purchased thousands of things over the decades at other places and NEVER was asked for an I.D. when a debit card was used requiring a pin number to be entered. When I asked her about it, she said, "Oh yea we always ask for I.D. for debit cards". If this is Dave's policy, this is even more disappointing. I bet if the store was in a nicer part of town like Eastlake or Carlsbad, things would be different. You can't trust those people near National City apparently. Secondly, B. Esparanza doesn't hand your card back to you. She is one of those poor etiquette practicing cashiers that put your card and receipt on the counter instead of handing them to you. Either Dave's staff isn't teaching the proper way to cashier and proper manners, or Dave isn't checking up on the staff. I worked retail at Fedco for 11 years so I know what proper cashiering/customer service is. This will be my last time shopping at Dave's Wholesale, I'd rather pay a little more at Walmart or Target, or Kmart if these experiences are what I would have to deal with again. Besides, there is another store very similar to Dave's but much larger called GTM Stores. They have discounted/returned/blemished warehouse club merchandise just like Dave's but 10 times as much to select from. read more

So disappointed with this place! I just saw an item that I recently purchased at costco for $6.50 (full price) selling for $14 at Dave's wholesale! Crazy!!! Most of their stuff is damaged or used, and they scam their customer by offering a "40%" off on certain things each week, when the same item, new, and not on sale, would be cheaper at Costco, where they get their stuff from!!! read more

It's a hit or miss place, more on the miss side. The hours of operation are lame. During the week, if you don't have a day job, get there before 4 pm because they start closing down the store and won't let you access certain areas anymore; just so they can all go home at 5 pm. A fantastic store. Dave the owner is the epitome of customer service and his staff follows the same friendly service ethics. We were having a fundraiser and heard good things about Dave's Wholesale. We went to check them out and found the prices were great, the selection of items were fantastic and the quality of the items awesome! We're now headed back this weekend to purchase more items for our annual Holiday Toy Drive. Dave the owner is committed to giving back to his community.
