Maria's was fantastic today! I'm not normally a fan of Mexican food but once in a while I can crave a good burrito. Maria's definitely fulfilled that craving today! It's located in downtown Woonsocket with a convenient parking lot only steps from the restaurant. The place itself is cute with sombreros for lights and brightly colored. I liked that! Maria was a fantastic waitress and all of the staff made us feel right at home. The menu was large with many interesting options. We opted for a passion fruit agua Fresca, mole burrito, and California burrito. Everything tasted fresh and was packed with flavor. The portion sizes for the price was also very reasonable. I love it here, we started off w/a couple margaritas w/tamarind vodka instead of tequila, fresh w/chopped jalapeños that left a spicy aftertaste. We stopped in to check out this new spot while touring around during the RI Food Fights Taco Mania. It's a cute little spot, decorated with vibrant, festive colors, just a block or two from downtown Woonsocket. It's location, just across from Lops Brewing makes for a great food & beer pairing! We were immediately welcomed by one of the friendly owners. He & his mother recently opened this restaurant together. He seems to be the service side while she produces the delicious food. We tried the tacos weros, which we were there to judge. They were tasty, but I think we'd prefer the more traditional street tacos next time. Our favorite bites were the Cental American staple- pupusas. They were delicious! Though they don't have a liquor license yet, the aguas frescas were tasty & refreshing. They hope that margaritas will be coming soon too! We also took home a couple empanadas for later - not our favorite & we'd probably try something different next time. This spot is a great addition to the city & we look forward to returning to try more of Maria's wares! read more

Food: We ordered the simple guacamole option on the menu and got it spicy. It was sooooooo good! Super fresh, the flavors were all there and well rounded, the citrus level was perfect, and I will def order even more next time. We also went there for the Rhode Island food fight taco mania and got 2 chicken tacos out of it. They were the average types with the hard or soft shell. But we also ordered the enchiladas mole and that was delicious! Service: The staff was so nice and helpful! We got to talk to them for a bit and they have only been opened for 1 month. Cute mom and pop place. The chef was also so sweet! Ambiance: Love the decor and colors. It's a semi small restaurant but spacious enough at the same time. Delicious! The most authentic Mexican food we've had in all of New England. Small place, but a great vibe. Drinks were great, my wife's pina colada was "the best she's ever had". If you like spicy, ask for the house made red hot sauce. Wowza. And I never use that word. Go. order. Eat. And enjoy. We might not even try any other place for Mexican food. read more

Maria and her restaurant are a delight. We loved this place so much. From friendly staff to festive atmosphere to their the food which was generously portioned and utterly fabulous. I cannot recommend the homemade guacamole enough. It was attractively served in one of those huge lava bowls and did not disappoint. My husband ordered the Burrito Maria covered in homemade mole. In fact, everything is homemade and it shows. I had the traditional street style tacos with onions and cilantro. My daughter had the shrimp tacos. All were delicious. We topped off the huge dinner with a flan for dessert. Another family was seated next to us and ordered the flan at the same time. We exchanged mutual oohs and ahs which were well warranted. This wasn't some boring boxed jello type dessert. It was really special. I sincerely hope this place stays open a good long time as we intend to return and often. read more

This was one of the best Mexican meals I have ever had. My friend and I walked in and were met with great service. We had the chips and homemade guacamole and I can confidently say that this was the best guacamole I have ever had. We split the ground beef empanadas and these were also phenomenal with great flavor and a nice crispy texture. For my meal I had the burrito norteno with shredded chicken, it had great flavor and was packed with fresh ingredients. Overall, this was the absolute definition of a 5 star Mexican restaurant experience. I'd recommend to anyone looking for fresh authentic, feel-good Mexican cuisine . read more

What a wonderful gem in Woonsocket. Small but beautifully done and very welcoming. The ladies went out of their way to accommodate me. The jalapeño margarita was excellent!
