The first thing you notice when you walk in is all of the colorful Mexican decorations on the walls and hanging from the ceiling, and everything is for sale. They even have a room with more decor and serving pieces, kitschy but cute. The painted tables, enameled chairs and Mexican music add to the fun vibe. The staff (what little they have) is incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. For starters they bring out homemade chips with 3 different salsas. We had beef fajitas, which come with rice (yellow or white) and beans (black or refried), some shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and warm tortillas (flour or corn) and a beef chimichanga totally loaded. We were delighted with the colorful and comfortable decor as we entered Guaduadalajara Restaurant. The menu is extensive and everything is cooked to order. We started with an order of guacamole served not with chips, but with chicharrones. They were exceptional. For mains, we ordered beef fajitas and chicken fajitas (you get less of the proteins when you order a combo). The portions were enormous and everything was flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The homemade salsas were terrific as well. Although the service was friendly, there were only two servers (and no runners or bus persons) for a full restaurant, so it was slow. I ordered chicken fajitas with rice and black beans. And a chicken soup ...my husband ordered enchiladas with refried beans and rice and a shrimp soup. The food was authentic and delicious and spices and fresh ingredients were just to my liking...my chicken fajita the came out sizzling and aromas from my plate were intoxicating . My husband loved his plate just the right spicy dish he said pure flavor explosion . The chicken soup I didn't care much for it came out with a large chicken leg with skin on it .the flavor of the broth I couldn't taste chicken it was bland.. my husband soup was delicious shrimp soup. My dad introduced me to this amazing place. Whether you're enjoying the nice ambiance and the great people that work there; or you're getting takeout, this place will treat you right! The food is reasonably priced and it's amazing! In my takeout order I got 5 tacos with fixings and some delicious spicy red hot salsa. I'm glad they did not tone down the spice in the red salsa, because that chipotle is so delicious while at the same time cleaning my sinuses. It's very colorful inside and the staff will make you feel welcomed. The traditional tacos with the corn tortillas were delicious. In my opinion the steak tacos were the best. They were perfectly seasoned and at the end of the day simple is best. The barbacoa tacos were delicious as well. The bbq sauce that is used isn't overbearing and just leaves you wanting more. I really really wanted to love Guadalajara. I would give it a 4/5 for food quality, a 2/5 for service, and 3/5 for overall vibe. The salsa was on point. Three varieties and both of the red and green spicier varieties had a good bite to them. My burrito was tasty, albeit a bit plain, but my fiancés chicken left a bit to be desired. When ordering the chipotle chicken, it had more of a barbecue flavor, and the two chicken legs lacked meat, so it wasn't a very filling dish. Other reviews have mentioned the lackluster service and unfortunately I feel like I should comment on that as well. We were left with empty drinks for close to 20 minutes and were never offered refills until we were getting ready to leave. They weren't busy, but we were left hanging multiple times. It's extremely hard to find decent Mexican in the area, so I will probably be back, as I really did enjoy it, but I hope they can get extra help. read more

I wanted to love this place. It was super crowded on taco Tuesday. The service was very slow. The tables needed to be bused. The complimentary chips and salsa had like 12 chips for 3 people. Are you joking me? We ordered the queso with chorizo and jalapeños and it was epic. The portion was very tiny. The sopes and gorditas were just ok. We tried the chicken, carnitas and shredded beef. I wont lie and say it's the best Mexican food I've ever had but it 9/10 times hits the spot! One of the worst dining experiences I've had. Be aware that they charge you for more than ONE basket of chips even if you order queso. Chips are EXTRA. Been eating here for years and never ONCE been charged extra for chips. Anytime I wanted or needed ANYTHING for the table, I had to get up and go to the counter and ask for it. Totally underwhelming and not sure what the previous reviewers experienced/ate, but it's almost like we ate at different restaurants. No one had a good meal- I had the steak & shrimp fajitas: the steak was chewy stringy & gave me a stomachache. The 3 shrimp were fine. Totally underwhelming and very small portion. Two of my friends got a hard taco with octopus as their protein, granted which might not have been the right choice for this joint, but they had to send it back it was so bad Apparently the enchiladas were great either. I would've liked to of tried the chorizo taco, and should've gone with that, but I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where the fajitas are the wrong choice... Last but not least, there's no tequila or liquor at this restaurant which was a bit disappointing I did not pick out tonight's restaurant & was unable to research, Though I would've found out about the alcohol issue, I certainly would've thought the food was good based on other reviews. If you want to try a new place with an nice atmosphere, this is a place to come. We had a very attentive waitress "Dixie" with a big smile who make you feel very welcome. Mom made a mistake and asked for the fish but they brought it "whole". They where very kind enough to bring her another fish this time sliced. I had a taco salad (meat very tasty). Later I saw our waitress passing by with one of their specialty dish called "Marranito ala Lena" beef and pork ribs , sausage, chicken wings , shrimps, all grilled which comes with cactus and cheese presented In an authentic cute foot and a half decorative clay pork dish.
