They have a coffee shop, classrooms, PC areas, puzzle tables, fax copy print area, etc. Very nice staff member got my friends set up with library cards and their first set of free tickets to a museum using the Culture Pass. They are a cooling center. They have elevators and wide aisles that are wheelchair friendly. I didn't realize I can get a Tempe Library Card even though I'm not a Tempe resident. I will be getting my card soon so I can use their seed Library.... if they have one. I'm excited to go back and explore a little bit. The Mesa branch also has a print out of the monthly events calender but this one is on line only. My friends are almost 80 and prefer a print version. I go to the Mesa Dobson Branch Library and I wish they would upgrade that one as the smell of wet carpet hits you from the first moment you walk in.

Cons: Furniture and equipment are worn out, it's not that quiet (people talking, eating, playing music), seating and computers are too close together (I don't want to be sitting that close to anyone at the library), people using the study rooms talk so loudly that you can hear their entire conversation in the next room over. Semi-private does NOT mean soundproof! It also smells bad at times, and every time I visit, I catch some guy staring at me as if he's never seen a woman before, which puts me on guard despite security presence. Unfortunately for me, the cons outweigh the pros. And whatever happened to the days when libraries were meant to be quiet? People treat libraries like hang-out spots now and library staff don't even bother to quiet them or uphold a level of respect for people trying to read and study anymore.

There's a lot of construction going on right now so the first floor is blocked off. Otherwise, there's 4 other floors to explore and I'm in absolute awe of this library. The elevator is clear and there's a nice view as you go up. They have so many tables and individual work spaces to study. I love the resources that they offer all ages. From children, college students, and the unhoused. It's just super stuffy/hot during the day, I don't think I could stay inside for long. I will forever support my local libraries!

Been an avid reader all of my life and I love this library branch…read more Taking part in their Summer Reading program for the first time this year. My wife did it last year and got me interested. It encourages readers of all ages to log the minutes they read over the summer and in turn you can earn prizes and even a free book for participating and reaching certain goals. It has been a lot of fun. We love our branch located in between Baseline and Guadalupe roads on Dobson. The workers there are so nice and friendly. Always greeted with a smile and very helpful in finding books or answering questions from the public (aka us readers). One of my favorite parts of the library is the Restoried section where you can pick up pre-read books at a discounted price. Better than a yard sale. Definitely stop into the branch and check out some books - literally.

My review is based on the courtesy of staff, their knowledge of services offered, the convenience of the huddle rooms -availability and reserving, and the items they occasionally have available for purchase. I've come here for printing recently instead of going to the UPS store. Saves me more money. You can submit things to be printed via email or you can print things yourself either from desktop or directly at a set up printer. There is a fee, which is minimal, and there are some limitations to what you can print. I've used the Culture Pass deal and saved the price of two tickets for two adults (online price, age 18-64, $26 each) to visit the Heard Museum. Very cool, and it was our first to the Heard Museum, so added bonus. More recently the gentleman I spoke to provided me a quick lesson on how/where/when to pick up future Culture Pass so I could participate again when I find passes available. Some of the Culture Pass locations you could visit: Desert Botanical Garden The Heard Museum Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Reid Park Zoo Gilbert Historical Museum Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Arcosanti Sedona Heritage Museum Lowell Observatory Superstition Mountain Museum and several more. Desktops are available for a reserved period of time, and wifi can be accessed without a specific set limit if you bring your own laptop. On one occasion we picked up a selection of music cds for $1 each. Better price than many second hand stores. And I did see they have books available for purchase. One of the first things I noticed was how spacious the library feels. Everything looked clean and well maintained, which made it a really comfortable place to settle in and focus. There was actually already a line of people waiting outside for the library to open at 1 PM on Sunday, which says a lot about how popular it is. One feature I thought was especially cool is their seed library, where you can pick up seeds to plant your own plants at home. They also offer the usual cultural passes, which is always a great perk with a library card. Speaking of that, I really liked how unique their library card designs are. I was able to sign up for a card today thanks to a very helpful staff member who made the process quick and easy. Inside, there were plenty of tables and outlets almost everywhere, which made it perfect for getting work done. There is also a free charging center where you can charge devices. Parking was also simple. I parked at the Scottsdale Civic Center Garage, which made access really convenient. Overall, I was very happy with my visit today and will definitely be coming back.

I figured it was about time I checked it out and I was very impressed. The first floor has adult collections, study rooms, meeting rooms, and quiet work areas. They even have a cafe to purchase drinks and snacks. The second floor is dedicated to children and families. They have a ton of children's books, computers, play spaces, and story time rooms. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I was told by getting a library card, I can check out passes that provide free admission to museums, gardens, and cultural attractions around Arizona. How cool! Will check out the cultural passes another time but did get the library card. They also offer a lot of free classes and programs for adults, teens and children such as book discussion groups, arts and crafts workshops, and story times. There's something for everyone here.

While touring the ASU campus, we stopped into Hayden Library for a little break from the Arizona…read moreheat. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was the skateboard rack. You could leave your skateboard there and actually lock it up while you were inside because absolutely no wheels are allowed in the library. I thought that was such a convenient feature, especially on a college campus where so many students use skateboards to get around. The library looked exactly like what you would expect a library to look like--and sounded like one too. It was quiet! There were tons of breakout rooms where students could work together and actually talk without disturbing everyone else. There was also plenty of seating in all different styles, with lots of places to spread out, study, work, or just take a break. Compared to the rest of the ASU campus, which was full of school colors and "Forks Up" everywhere you looked, the library had much more muted tones and wasn't nearly as colorful. I'm guessing that was intentional to create a calmer environment where students could focus on their studies. The architecture was beautiful, too, and there were some really nice details throughout the building. One of my favorite things was a dry-erase board that asked, "What do you love most about campus so far?" They had Post-it notes available for people to add their answers. Some responses were sweet and thoughtful, some were hilarious, and others were just completely ridiculous. It was a fun little glimpse into the personalities of the students. Overall, Hayden Library seemed like a great place for students to study, work on group projects, or simply take a break from the busy campus. I also loved that they thought about transportation and gave students a safe place to secure their skateboards before coming inside. It was definitely a nice little escape from the heat, and even though we weren't there to study, I could see why students would spend plenty of time here.

I appreciate that while we are in an pandemic that ASU has their library open for students to…read morestudy. As a seasoned adult, I do not appreciate these two Aid's. They were harassing us, having others monitor us, mocking us and waving along with talking loudly about us at the front desk and then at one point came into our study room threatening us they were going to kick us out of the library. I understand they are enforcing the mask requirement, however, we were in our on study room, door closed and didn't leave the room. The first time they came in, they told us we were required to wear masks, so we put them on. The second time she came in, I had just taken a drink and was pulling my mask back up and my study partner was doing teach-back on our topic so her mask had fallen slightly past her nose, that's when we got the lecture on pulling our masks up all the way and if we weren't going to be compliant then they reserved the right to kick us out. They were hyper-focused on us during their rounds that I didn't see them acknowledge three other students that weren't wearing masks at all. Diligence is one thing and I get they have been told to ensure students are wearing masks. However, today what I experienced from these two was harassment.

I appreciate that they select different coffee flavors each week that sound and taste delicious and for a very reasonable price. I was recently here with the toddler to redeem one of our summer reading challenge prizes, a free drink from the cafe. The drink was a blue lemonade with a gummy shark and whipped cream on top in honor of the oceans theme for this year's challenge. It looked so cute and tasted superb! It had just the right amount of sweetness and tartness and the toddler was zooming around for hours after chugging that drink down lol. They recently reopened up the outdoor patio too it looks like so this will be a great option for snacking or getting a nice beverage when the weather gets cooler.
