One of my favorite libraries. I used to come here to study when I was in Dental Hygiene School. You can reserve private study rooms which was helpful when I needed to focus or when we had group projects to discuss. I now bring my children to further their love of books. The staff is wonderful. When my toddler began to have a meltdown, one of the staff members helped me finish checking out our books so my 3rd grader could get his books and we could get out of the building fast! I used to be an avid library kid, even when we moved around a lot, the library was so reliable! Now that I am a mom, I want my toddler to be a library kid and really enjoy it! We stopped by here after I was done with work and I don't know WHY I was surprised they were open until 9PM. I am so used to corporate life closing at 5PM everywhere else (lol!) This a beautiful library - it is so clean and seems really new. There's a big window facing the Riparian Reserve so that you can enjoy reading or studying and watching the birds fly back and ducks sitting on the waters. Their children's area was nice, my toddler loved looking at the books and sitting at the chairs his height. We ventured to the other side for my husband and I to browse; there are so many options! We checked out a lot of children's books, and a movie that I've been wanting to watch. BUT LISTEN... the check out was incredible. They have stand alone kiosks where you place the ENTIRE PILE and it checks them out at the same time. I was blown away - LOL We will be returning... because we books to return lol read more

Nice library next to the Riparian Preserve! Lots of indoor spaces for studying, games, and books to choose from. My family and friends like attending the baby lapsit classes and the story times classes. You can tell the librarians put in a lot of work to make it fun for the kids! For the activities, go on the website and make a reservation. When classes are full, you can go there and wait to see if there are any no shows so that you can attend. read more

What a beautiful library! The facility has so many different functions. The library hosted today's career fair. The facility was set up beautifully, and getting in and out was seamless. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, inside and out, and there was plenty of parking. If you haven't been to your local library lately, visit and see what they have in store. read more

The librarians are friendly and helpful. They have everything you need, and if it's not here, you can order it from one of their partner libraries! They send you alerts when your items are about due or overdue, and you can renew up to five times online. Also, they don't charge overdue fines! read more

Great library that's quite new looking even though I think it's been around for awhile. It's well designed and organized, brightly lit, clean, and has a great children's section with so many books. There's a Friends of the library bookstore at the entrance lobby, and 2 clean (but smelly the day we visited) bathrooms. My kids say this one also has many more books they like here than at Queen Creek library even though that one is quite big too. It can get pretty loud here as there's a lot of little ones, from babies to toddlers. But that's too be expected in the children's area. Overall, this is an excellent library with so many books and other resources. read more

I would give this place 5 stars if they enforced people to keep the noise down. You can hear people laughing, talking and kids yelling and nothing is said to them. If you come, bring noise canceling headphones to help drown the noise. read more

My favorite library! Located right next to the Riparian Preserve, this library has the best view! It's a pretty busy library because it is very nice and in a great location. Books are easy to find here, librarians are super nice, and wifi works great. I love this library because of all the windows. It's a peaceful place to study and I don't feel confined in the dark like I do at some libraries. I love the cultural passes. I come here at least once a week to browse their new book section and staff picks along the walls. It's so easy to find a new read here. read more

I've been here a couple times to utilize their large study desks and free Internet, and have to agree with some of the other yelp reviews. If you are looking for a quiet area to read or study, this place is not for you. On every occasion I have been here, there are always several children running around screaming and yelling, or playing tag. I understand that it is important for children to be at a library and engage in books, however I think it is important to respect the space and to keep the volume down. The library is not meant for tag or for running around. If you were lucky enough to get a seat at the desk by the window, you are in luck! There is a great view of the lake, and you can people watch or even just watch the birds fly by. There are many tables around the library, but I have only found outlets near the tables by the windows. There is a good selection of books, CDs, and videos. I was a little surprised to see that he's library no longer uses the Dewey decimal system. When I was looking for a book, the books were organized by titles alphabetically and not by other last name. Be sure to ask for help if you cannot find the book you want. The staff are very friendly! read more

Big library with ample parking. But there are always solicitors hanging at the front. It is nice that it's next to the Riparian reserve so you can walk around and feed the ducks. The volume level inside is hit or miss, I totally understand how it can bother people when it's loud from the kids. It's hard because the "play area" is open and can be crazy after a storytime let's out. But if you are a parent, you know it's sometimes hard to get the lils to stay quiet. On the flip side, yes we should at least try to help the lils use inside voices. For the people without kids, bring some good headphones:ear plugs! Anyways, I used to bring my kids here for the storytimes before covid. But after covid, you have to register ahead of time and it's a bit of an inconvenience so I bring my youngest to the other libraries for storytime instead. FYI- Perry, Basha and Chandler libraries don't require a pre reservation..... *** I mainly want to give you all a heads up on the pricey book damage fees. I dropped off two kid books we borrowed and when I tried to borrow more books an hour later, I was told there was some water damage to the pages of the dropped off books. I was not aware of this but have no way of proving I did not do this nor do they have proof it was me. But I get it, ok I'm a law library abiding citizen. So they showed me and for some wavy pages because it looked like water splashed on it at some point (the binding, plastic cover and hard covers were fine).....they charged me $43!!!! Blew my mind. I gave them a look of that's outrageous and the librarian said I could keep the books too. I told some friends and they said they have dropped off books with taped pages bc their babies ripped them by accident but they were never charged. I totally get damage fees have to be enforced but that is a bit much. I'll think of it as my last library donation and def won't be coming to this library anymore.....yikes! read more

It's been awhile! :0 Came in to pick up a book for my daughter. Seems these school books (required) are never in stock here not even during the summer, for a summer school read! With that said, easily enough obtained within just a few days as they have access to the full Maricopa County system. By using the computers in the library to look up & reserve your book it's simple!!The request(s) will be transferred from another location & you'll be notified when it comes in -via email. This trip wasn't a total waste of time! LOL We picked up about 5 movies! You can rent many delectation of DVDs, CDs, Blue Rays & even Magazines. 7 day rentals. You'll have access to WIFI, computers & laptops. I believe they may even rent out projectors? A small fee may apply. Check with them for details. The personnel are very helpful and this library does have much to offer, but what I like most is that it's technology is updated & easy to use whether you're using their computers for research or by the check out process. In addition, there's many programs offered day & night for a very diverse audience. read more

Loud! Very loud library...you get bothered by noise and interruptions even if you reserve a room. It's a Beautiful library, but sadly there is no enforcement to be quiet. Very disrespectful to others! Kids running around, screaming, yelling, people talking on phones, everybody talks loud including staff. I come from a State where our library was Shhhhhh. If you're loud in anyway then you need to leave. If you can't be quiet or been asked more than once it's noted in your account. Sadly, none of that here will change unless someone above the staff will enforce some rules. What a shame! You also get bombarded by solicitors at the front! read more

I have been to this library a few times. It was easy to get a library card. The people working there are friendly. It's a large library. It does get noisy on the weekends and when kids are out of school. There are many computers available and free WiFi. Also, It's a bit warm in there on a hot summer day. A few things are a bit different here, like most things in AZ. They don't charge you if you bring in overdue books. Also, fiction is divided up by mystery, romance, historical, etc so it's a bit difficult to locate a book. There are some pretty views of a pond at the back of the library. I'll be back as I love reading. read more

Love this library and the classes for babies and kids are fantastic! They have so many fun activities as well for all ages. It is such a great location right next to riparian preserve too! We love coming here and then to the park to see the ducks. The only con is all of the people at the front stopping you for signatures which is annoying when I have all of my kids or am just running in. read more

Unbelievable!!! I was sitting in the 12-18 yrs old section working quietly with NO ONE around and a very rude, nasty, vile security guard came up to me and pointed at the sign and said this is reserved for 12-18 and you sure ain't 12-18. I told him my 13 year old son just went to get more books and will be right back. He tells me, well he needs to stay with you! I look at him and say, GOODBYE... he then tells me " don't get an attitude with me or I will walk you right outta here. I am beyond blown away and offended that this is the way you treat people MARICOPA COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT! If I could give this place a ZERO out of 5 I WOULD!!!!!! DISGRACEFUL!!!! read more

Beautiful, large library. There is a huge kids' area where they have several tables with crafts set up, as well as offer activities throughout the week, such as Daddy & Baby storytime and a kids' Lego club. They also have an onsite bookstore where they sell used (but in excellent condition) books at crazy cheap prices, like $1-3! They have a tremendous selection, and you can request books/media from other locations also, all done online. You can even track your request online and see when it leaves another facility, arrives at this one, etc. What a nice feature! As a bonus, this library is immediately next to the Riparian Preserve park, so make an outing of it and spend a few hours. read more

When we first moved to the area we found this was a great place to spend some time exploring the facility and what it had to offer. The personnel are very helpful and the library has a lot to offer, but what I love most is that it's technology is updated and easy to use whether you are using the computers for research or to check out items. This was where I spent every weekend this semester to study. I love this library, the view from the large windows is better than the view from my other favorite library, Burton Barr. Nice large tables, plenty of outlets to keep electronics charged, clean bathrooms. My only complaint is that they don't do a very good job of monitoring the noise level in the library area. I understand that some people out there don't have a clue about what's going on around them and allow their kids to play hide and seek and throw temper tantrums outside of the children's section but the librarians need to regulate. I still have to give it 5 stars though because it's so tranquil to me... when the screaming kids are gone. read more

Friendly and helpful librarians. Beautiful ponds with a paved path and many dirt paths. So many native creatures. I love this place!

So far so good! Just moved here and got a library card in less than 10 minutes. They even have different card designs to choose from. I've read a few books here already and their "Hold" process is nice as well, working through their online system. The workers have been friendly and it's easy to navigate through the shelves. There are usually some solicitors or booths right outside the library, so I don't always love that because they try to stop and talk to you sometimes. Still a great library, just a lot of people on waitlists and getting a book you like may take a while! read more

I really like my library. It is spacious and cool and organized and has lovely views of the bird sanctuary. Seems like the shelves are rather barren lately. Is it all going the way of e-books? I love libraries in general. This one is modern but lacks the excitement of the downtown Phoenix library or the amazing Seattle library; thus the 4 star review. It never ceases to surprise me that 4 out of 5 times I go, it is closed. Go figure.... read more

Please consider changing your 7 day pick up policy at least during your limited curbside pick ups. You are closed Friday through Sunday eliminating 3 of the days for pick up. I have to take time off work now on Monday to get in line at 10am to pick up reserved books. Not everyone is working from home. read more

This library has great services, plenty of books and resources, and many study tables and rooms. I really enjoy studying here because it is nice and quite. The view to Riparian Preserve is beautiful and helps me relax too. Librarians here have been really helpful when I had questions. I also like the variety of programs for children and adults here. The only thing that could make this library better is if it had some more books. I have had a few occurrences when the resources I needed were out stocked for a long time. Otherwise, I love coming to this library. read more

I still love this library, but I have to agree with some of the 1 star reviewers. The agressiveness of some of the political people in front of the entrance is obnoxious. What my beliefs are, and who I want to vote for, is none of their business. One one occaison, I felt in fear of physical assault because I wouldn't sign a petition. Perhaps one should respond in kind. The religious people are trying to do something positive, even though I don't believe the same way that they do, I respect what they are doing. The thoughtless parents don't care how much their screaming brats are disturbing other people, it's all about their self esteem. read more

This library is for KIDS. Sorry but it's not an adult only facility and almost everything in it is gear towards children plus there's toms of classes for kids.. expecting this place to be quiet is ridiculous and defeats thE entire purpose of what they're trying to do which is create a safe family FRIENDLY environment for kids to enjoy the fun of reading. If that upsets you go elsewhere or read at home! I got one keep my kids quiet and within arms length but I don't look down on parents that have crazy loud kids they are just kids. I came to this library because I recently moved back to the city and it is close to where I'm living - it also looks beautiful on the outside. I was really excited to visit but upon my arrival and walking toward the building, I got bombarded by at least three different adult solicitors (something about angels and other religious things...) I smiled and said "no thank you" politely however they kept trying to grab my attention as I walked inside the building - not the greatest impression but I was still open minded. As the other reviews state, this place is LOUD. I mean, constant children screaming and yelling. It is VERY hard to ignore. I also found it very difficult to navigate the shelves and there weren't very many people there to help me out - I had to leave after 15 minutes because the noise and confusion was just too much. Maybe it is better when school is in session? I'm not entirely sure.. bummer. read more

We used to love this library but I had a bad experience there today. I was told by a security guard I needed to keep my kids quiet. They are 1 and 3. We were in the children's section and my 1 year old was whining about being in the stroller as I didn't want him running around. It just really made me feel unwelcome there. As if it's not stressful enough taking two toddlers out in public after they've been inside for a year, but the library is supposed to be family friendly, especially in the kid's section! Apparently this has been a common occurrence lately and many parent are choosing not to come back to the library. I'm also disappointed that they have chosen not to offer any kind of story time during the summer months. The library is a lifesaver in the summer and I think they're seeing a lot of families coming to the library for something to do. Story time would solve a lot of these issues. read more

Back in my day we went to the library to read! But now I take my 3 year old here to play! They have toddler time on Thursday's and they also have events sometimes on Fridays for kids, like imagination station! If you have lil ones this is a great place to check out! After words take them next door to the riparian preserve to see the wild life and explore! read more

This library has some nice views at the back of the library but if you are looking for a quiet place to read or study, this is not the place. It is very noisy and there are lots of children running around, shrieking, and crying. It has lots of desks to sit at and lots of seating but the overall atmosphere is just too noisy for my needs. read more

C rehearses right down the street so when I drop him off I occasionally come here to get some work done. There are plenty of tables & chairs and outlets to plug in the laptop. The men's bathroom has been clean each time. For a smaller community library, this place is great. I have been here a few times and have not had any issues. I like to think of myself as a library connoisseur because, well, I like libraries and I've been to a fair number of them. This library is awesome. It's clean, well maintained, and has lots and lots of computers. There are sections for DVDs, blue-ray, series on DVDs, and of course, books. But I'm going to let you in on a secret: you can go online and put anything you want on reserve for yourself (assuming you have a library card), and they will email you when your item is ready to pick up. And it's free! The staff has always been great. We love this library. I wish more of our tax payer money would go to fund services like these! read more
