So, my girlfriends daughter had always wanted to go to Guanabanas, so went on Labor Day. I order their version of a rum runner, the drink was great. My girlfriend ordered shrimp tacos, they had NO shrimp for tacos, but they had Shrimp for skewers... this makes no sense. My gfs daughter ordered grilled chicken wrap with lettuce tomato and BBQ sauce. The server didn't tell us the BBQ sauce was home made and wasn't actually BBQ sauce, that a 9 year old would expect. (she ate potato chips instead). The server didn't offer to get her something else, which was a little disappointing. When I asked how come there was no shrimp for shrimp tacos she said " well it's Labor Day and they didn't plan on being busy. I'm sorry I'm a restaurant owner, and that's not an acceptable answer. The shrimp used on the skewers could have been used in the shrimp tacos. A visit from the manager would have been a nice gesture..not sure if I'll come back for dinner, might just be a late night drink destination. read more

I asked for a table by the water for me and an out of town guest. No sooner had the hostess sat us down, another hostess came over and told us we had to leave and sit at the high hat tables. We did not leave, we stayed put at our table. Don't ask for bread with your meal or croutons with your salad because you're not getting it. I wanted fish tacos made with grouper and was told I couldn't have it, that they were made from leftover fish. I then asked for coconut crusted grouper, but I KNOW my fish wasn't grouper, it was cod. I KNOW grouper. The only nice thing about this restaurant was sitting by the water. Everything else about it was AWFUL. I spent a hefty price for bad service and cheap food. I'm never going back. Love the atmosphere here. Tropical foliage and trees jutting up throughout the restaurant makes you feel like you are somewhere far away. Long wait for a table but there are chairs along the water where you can sit and enjoy a drink while you wait. We had tasty drinks - Mojjto & Organic Margarita both yummy - and very fresh guacamole which was not on the menu but we saw folks eating it so we ordered the same. We had a group of about 20 come here for lunch after kayaking for a couple of hours in the Indian River Lagoon. We had worked up our appetites, and Guanabana's was a fulfilling way to end our trip. At our table we had the Cuban sandwich, a grouper sandwich, shrimp dumplings, fish tacos and a burger. All were good, I think the grouper sandwich was liked best. Drinks were a little overpriced, but they came with a great water view so no one complained in our group. read more

This is a terrible establishment. Came here for a fun 25th birthday and what proceeded was one of the most preposterous chain of events in my entire life. First the hostess (who was mean) said that the wait would be 2.5 hours. Cool I get it they're popular and busy, but whatever. So I'm like yea cool I'll wait, but by wait I OBVIOUSLY meant go drink somewhere else because im not going to stand around for 2.5 hours like a dunce. So then I come back an hour later (only 1/3 of my preloads wait time) just to check in cuz I'm polite as shit. The hostess was so mean and told me they had already called my table and couldn't seat is because we weren't there. She was so mean and almost refused to put our name back on the list because we are idiots who were still willing to wait. Everything from start to finish amazing. Had the fish dip hot wings and the Florida fritters. All were great. Cuban sandwich with plantains on the side awesome and dessert bread pudding and key lime pie was great. If you are getting a side get the southern corn pudding. Are you kidding me. We grabbed a drink at the bar and waited for our table for over and hour just to find out the menu is so limited I had hard time deciding what I'd like to eat. Make the long story short we had cheese dip and chips, steamers , I had shrimp and crab cake and my husband had chip crusted fish - big mistake!! Feb 26, 2011 Had drinks and dinner on a Saturday evening. The ambiance was Great, there was live Music and the Food was Great. Half price appetizers t'il 6 and half Price draught beer including Guinness! Shared the empenadas and chips/salsa. I ate the crusted boniata and my friend had the fish tacos. Both were delicious. Overall, a really pleasant dining experience. Thanks to Brittany for excellent service. One tip: don't be discouraged if there is a 60 minute wait for a table, just circulate through the bar and wait for someone to vacate one of the high tables, where you can grab a drink, listen to the music and wait til a table is free. The only thing good about this place is the landscaping. It's a very tropical. None of the employees put any care into what they are doing. The bartenders have an attitude and the waitstaff are not attentive. The drinks are pretty pricey and weak. And good luck trying to get a one at the small crowded bar. Whew don't bump into anyone! The people here are snobby Palm Beach posers.And the food is so overpriced and it's not even good. It's a shame because this establishment has so much potential. read more

I really like the food, the waterfront views are cool too but they have no parking close to the restaurant so you have to either walk over to it or valet and the valet is an independent company who may or may not scratch your car. If it wasn't for the valet company I would really recommend this place. I would say if you are ok with waiting an hour for good food it's worth it otherwise there are so many other choices available. read more

I've been to this restaurant multiple times and have always had good service. The atmosphere is like no other with its tropical vibe, but my experience tonight was horrible. Our waiter came to us fairly quickly and took our drink and food orders. However after we received the food our waiter pretty much ignored us, socializing with friends, and barley coming over to our table. When I we got the tip I left him a low tip and left. While walking around the water outside he restaurant our waiter approached us and asked why we didn't leave him a higher tip. I was so shocked by this and thought it was extremely unprofessional. The waiter went out of his way to confront us to get more money, my boyfriend reached out of his and have him a few more dollars. The waiter didn't say thank you and walked away. read more

We were looking for a restaurant in the area that was on the water and reasonably priced. This seemed to fit the bill even though it had only gotten 3.5 stars. We were pleasantly surprised. It was a Sunday and happy hour was still going on between 3 and 6. They indicated that our table would be ready within 45 minutes (we wanted one on the water) and it only took about 25 minutes. The view was gorgeous and the food was good. We had the shrimp and grits which is a must try of you like this sort of food. Also had the fresh snapper. Both meals were excellent and the bread pudding for dessert was awesome. We sat for a while after dinner and never felt like we were being rushed out. Guanabana has a policy of not giving an approximate wait time if you call before arriving even if you're a minute away. We wanted to have lunch on Sunday, pulled into the valet, walked inside only to be told the wait was 90 minutes. We immediately left then had to wait 10 minutes to get through the valet congestion. That evening we decided to try again. We were on the street outside of the valet and called to get an approximate wait time. We were told that we would have to come in because it is their policy not to give wait times. We were disappointed so we went to a different restaurant. We live in Jupiter but will not return until this policy is changed. read more
