Once again, Sophia and I stopped here for lunch which was a year later. This was the 3rd time we've been here which should've been done way earlier. The previous two times ended up with satisfaction. Shall the 3rd stop be icing on the cake? We were seated immediately upon walking inside. It was almost half packed which was fine with us. Decor was nice all around, the staff were friendly and customers seemed happy too. You know we can't negate that type of vibe. After looking through the menu for several minutes, I decided on ordering chicken in soy sauce (half portion) with a side of white rice and Egg Drop soup which came with crispy wonton strips. Everything was delicious. It has been a while since I've had this type of soup so I couldn't pass it up. The chicken was cooked well with plenty of soy sauce marinating the meat. I took half of it home where it was plentiful. Definitely not a bad lunch for the both of us (Sophia had the salt and pepper squid which was my go-to for previous visits). A wonderful spot for Chinese food in the 757. Overall service is well. The place is very spacious with a lot of round tables with lazy Susan's. I always get the hot tea, a great start to the meal. Overall, I think the seafood fried rice is okay, I'd rather go for another meat like chicken or beef. They have pancit, which was decent. The mapo tofu is very tasty, but I wish there was more ground beef. Spice level was decent, but I would like it spicier. The garlic eggplant is one of my favsssssss!!!! A sweet soy sauce/oyster sauce taste. The Peking duck is very good, skin is crispy. The char siu pork is also very flavorful. THE WALNUT SHRIMP, it's always a winner. This is my husband's favorite. The white sauce just pairs so well with fried shrimp. The dumplings and Rangoons are thick. The dumplings are covered in sweet soy sauce. Very tasty. The pork belly was crispy just like Filipino lechon. I really enjoyed the custard buns. I do love that they have dim sum available to order all day. We have been here many times, and the dishes are always very good. They put a lot on the plate. This is definitely a place for family style. A must try!! We will be back. read more

I've been to GuangDong for a birthday dinner previously and decided to go for dinner to give it a second try. This was one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I've had. From the moment we sat down, the service felt rushed. Our waitress barely gave us time to look at the menu before pushing us to order. It didn't feel welcoming at all, it felt like we were an inconvenience. While we were eating, there was a very concerning situation happening with some employees. Two women who appeared intoxicated kept coming from the back of the restaurant, stumbling and falling all over the floor. One of them was repeatedly rubbing her nose with what looked like a powdery substance while a man kept pulling them back into a room near the restrooms. This went on multiple times. It was extremely uncomfortable and honestly scary,especially because my kids and their friend were with us. We weren't the only ones disturbed. Two other tables actually got up and left while this was going on. A couple sitting nearby looked completely shocked when the waitress began mocking me later on. The whole atmosphere felt chaotic and unprofessional. We ended up asking for to-go boxes because the environment felt unsafe. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. The chicken was very soggy and not crispy at all. On top of that, the entire restaurant smelled strongly like smoke mixed with a harsh chemical odor. It did not feel clean. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. When I asked about it, the waitress immediately became defensive and said they charge 20% for parties over five. I calmly explained that we were three adults and two children (five total). Instead of clarifying professionally, she began yelling back and forth with another woman, mocking what I was saying. She then snatched the check from the table and said, "For future reference, it's 20% for everyone." The entire interaction was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Overall, extremely unprofessional, uncomfortable, and not a place I would recommend at all, especially for families. read more

Walking into Guangdong Taste, my friends and I didn't realize it was a family-style dining spot, but that became clear pretty quickly once we looked around the restaurant and saw everyone else's food. The portions are big and meant for sharing, which worked perfectly since there were five of us. The real surprise for me was the rotating tabletop. I had never experienced one before, and it honestly made sharing dishes both fun and super convenient. We ordered a plethora of dishes: BBQ pork buns, custard buns, Cantonese roast duck, Szechuan chicken, stir-fried Chinese broccoli, and eggplant with garlic sauce. Everything we tried was delicious, no misses across the table. That said, the eggplant with garlic sauce was the standout for me; it was rich, savory, perfectly sauced, and absolutely the dish I kept going back for. Service was a tad slow, but the restaurant was clearly busy, so I get it. Nothing that ruined the vibe, just something to be aware of if you're in a rush. All in all, this was an excellent family-style dining experience with generous portions and great food. We always go here for a Chinese food fixed, food tastes are very consistent and delicious. Very tasty and could match with NY Chinatown. The service today is not so good that is why it is 4 not 5 star, it could really be improved. I asked 3 servers for a water refill. I understand it is busy but probably additional staff on a holiday will help. I appreciate the guy who seated us on a big table just to seat us in order. You can easily eat there and take home for the next day. The service is what it is. I wouldn't categorize it as horrible, they're just working fast. There is a circular table on top to be able to move the dishes around easily. There were 6 of us so it was a bit pricey but there was plenty of food to take home for another meal or two. Everything came out hot and tasty. My only recommendation would be to have a menu where you could order an individual meal if you did not want to share. The bathrooms were clean. This was my first time at GuangDong. We went early in the day, so seating was plentiful. I was very eager to try the soup dumplings and my husband was eager to try the duck. We ordered the duck on the mixed platter and it was tasty along with the pork. My main entree was pan fried noodles with chicken and it had such a great flavor. The servings were also plentiful so we all shared dishes. At the table, we also had Sea bass and peppercorn squid. The squid was very good. It came to the table late, so we took most of it home. It lost its crunch, but not its flavor. Now let's talk soup dumplings. I read several other Yelp reviews to get a concerns us and I saw a lot of positive vibes. Overall, they had good qualities when they arrived to the table. They looked delicious, they were hot, and I could tell there was soup and a filler inside. I was a little disappointed at the amount of soup and the flavor. They were ok dumplings. 3.5 STARS! I would definitely visit again and I really enjoyed their food flavor. Went for my birthday with family of four. They were getting busy and some leaving that went early with the lunch/dinner crowd. We were overlooked and still was patient to be seated and spoken to for drinks and menus. It seems if you have melanated skin it's an issue compared to others that were being seated and treated better. Anyway skip to the food... the roasted duck was just all skin and fat, very little meat just mostly sucking on bones. My brother had a seafood allergy and still was served the wonton soup which had shrimp versus the egg drop soup he had asked for to go with his fried fish dish. Customer Service was poorly lacking with our group while we watched every other table get refills and kind visits from the server. The Chicken Lo Mein is always a favorite, and we sometimes switch it up with roasted pork, both versions are great whether you get veggies or not. The roast pork buns are incredible, definitely a must-try, and the crab rangoons are a huge win because they actually use real crab meat. Pan-fried dumplings were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The beef lumpia was just okay, and the Mongolian beef, while tender, could have used more flavor and had way too many onions for my taste. Service here is always great, and the bathroom is average, clean enough but nothing special. Overall, this spot is an easy 8.5/10 for me. If you're in the area, definitely check them out, especially for the General Tso's, Lo Mein, roast pork buns, and crab rangoons! read more

I ordered takeout , in person, on Monday 3/30/26. I have been to this restaurant several times and was recommended by my favorite restaurant(Vietnam Garden). I ordered :shrimp fried rice, beef w/broccoli, pork w/mixed vegetables, eggrolls, shrimp balls and wonton soup. I received no fried rice and 3 small containers of some brown sauce with a few vegetables, 2 oz. of pork and 3 pieces of beef .All tasted like the same and not very good. So disappointing as I believed that this was an outstanding asian restaurant. I spent over $75 (at lunch prices) for garbage. I will not be back and will advise the same to others read more

The Wonton Soup Hong Kong style was missing noodles though I could not remember if I possible ordered the wrong dish, I thought it would come with noodles considering it was listed on Noodle Soup section. Soup dumplings were OK in my opinion the so called soup was lacking and the dough was thick. Been some time since we last came here. We ordered orange chicken with chicken fried rice, for some reason we had to order dinner versions though it was lunch time. Also ordered the Hong Kong style wonton noodle soup. The fried rice was dry and greasy. The orange chicken thankfully wasn't all bright orange due to food coloring but chicken didn't taste too fresh. The food is comparable to NYC but the service can be so so slow. We ordered roast pork to share as an appetizer but it didn't come until we were almost done with our entrees because the one and only person who chops it up and makes wonton noodle soup was on a lunch break. Needless to say I was the unfortunate one that ordered wonton Ho fun noodle soup and didn't get to eat until everyone was already done with their entrees. This is some good Chinese food! I'm not a big a fan of Chinese cuisine but this place makes me rethink my decision on that. The food comes out hot, fast and tasty. It is family style so the dishes are easily shareable with at least 3 people. For my first visit I experienced great service and a friendly staff. This is what I had: Salt and pepper eggplant - fried eggplants with salt and pepper. The eggplant still had a nice firm so it wasn't mushy at all. I really enjoyed this. Mongolian Beef - meet was tender with plenty of onions. Some places that I had this dish at was really greasy but not here. The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone. From your rice/noodle dish to your dishes you won't find at other Chinese restaurants in our area. It's spacious and can hold a large party. Hope to be back soon to try the noodle dishes. read more

Best Chinese Food in Virginia Beach! I travel to VA several times a year from Florida where we don't get good Chinese Food. I'm from Long Island, NY and miss really good Chinese Food. This place was recommended and it lived up to expectations. I ordered Fried Dumplings and Chicken w/Garlic Sauce and Fried Rice. The dumplings were excellent, not doughy, but fresh and very tasty with their sauce. The Chicken w/garlic sauce was very flavorful and delicious. A little spicy now and again, but excellent. The food and service was great overall. I also loved how the place looked. It was a little slow but that was to be expected showing up and the place was packed. I would rate higher however the food was a bit "off." The Crispy Chicken had a hint of duck flavor and the Beef Short Ribs and Peppered Lamb Chops tasted almost identical to each other. The Beef Lo Mein was pretty standard so nothing of note to say there. Nonetheless the Peking Duck was definitely the best item there and I'd say by a decent margin especially since they served it with perfectly cooked sliced steam buns. I had only been to Guangdong Taste (GT) once before for takeout but recently returned with a friend for her farewell supper for dine-in. I would categorize GT as a restaurant specializing in Cantonese cuisine, typically found at a Chinatown in bigger cities. The only other restaurant in the area that is similar in this category is Jade Villa, another personal favorite. The food found here is not the same as the fare at Chinese take out, hole-in-the-wall places you find at a shopping strip near you, if you know what I mean. - Parking - Center lot, they share the space with other businesses like May's Parlor (their commercial kitchen). - Vibe - Coastal VA does not have a Chinatown, but walking into GT is probably the closest you're gonna feel to being in one. High ceilings, spacious, gives off a dim sum hall vibe and they even have the fish tanks with live seafood ready to be cooked and roasted ducks hanging by the kitchen. Kitchen is semi-open so you see the cooking action in little peeps. - Noms - Japanese eggplant in garlic sauce - I ordered this for takeout last year and it was really good! This is made with the Asian eggplant, cooked to a soft, gooey, goodness with loads of garlic and bamboo shoot strips. Super saucy too, so great to mix with rice. Xiao long baos - soup dumplings, steamed to perfection and generous portion. To my knowledge, GT is only one of two restaurants in the area to offer these (dang it, forgot to snap a pic! Oh well! Let it be known, they were delicious!) Snow pea leaves sauteed with garlic - This is probably my favorite vegetable and preparation EVER. The leaves are just more robust and doesn't get soggy like spinach. At GT though, they sautee with slices of garlic, rather than minced. Nothing wrong with that, just an observation. I could just survive on this, a bowl of rice and some sriracha sprinkled all over it! It's just so good. Pretty big portion too. Half duck - Roasted well, cut in manageable pieces, served with a side of its own roasted juice. Some things to note: - prices are pretty on par with this type of Chinese restaurant. Price points are a bit higher, but the portions justify this. I was with just one friend, but GT is ideal for bigger groups. You can order more so you can share and get more of a variety of different things. The big tables and seating is reflective of this. As two, we kept it to a minimum, but it was still too much food, so I ended up packing up the leftovers and still had 1.5 meals from it. - they have dim sum a la carte, limited selection, but enough to get satisfy the craving with basic items Just based on the two experiences of both takeout and dine-in and the few dishes that I've had at GT, I can't wait to go back many more times to eat my way through the menu!
