The two women workers who were rude then decided to mock me
    Sharee R.

I've been to GuangDong for a birthday dinner previously and decided to go for dinner to give it a second try. This was one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I've had. From the moment we sat down, the service felt rushed. Our waitress barely gave us time to look at the menu before pushing us to order. It didn't feel welcoming at all, it felt like we were an inconvenience. While we were eating, there was a very concerning situation happening with some employees. Two women who appeared intoxicated kept coming from the back of the restaurant, stumbling and falling all over the floor. One of them was repeatedly rubbing her nose with what looked like a powdery substance while a man kept pulling them back into a room near the restrooms. This went on multiple times. It was extremely uncomfortable and honestly scary, especially because my kids and their friend were with us. We weren't the only ones disturbed. Two other tables actually got up and left while this was going on. A couple sitting nearby looked completely shocked when the waitress began mocking me later on. The whole atmosphere felt chaotic and unprofessional. We ended up asking for to-go boxes because the environment felt unsafe. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. The chicken was very soggy and not crispy at all. On top of that, the entire restaurant smelled strongly like smoke mixed with a harsh chemical odor. It did not feel clean. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. When I asked about it, the waitress immediately became defensive and said they charge 20% for parties over five. I calmly explained that we were three adults and two children (five total). Instead of clarifying professionally, she began yelling back and forth with another woman, mocking what I was saying. She then snatched the check from the table and said, "For future reference, it's 20% for everyone." The entire interaction was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Overall, extremely unprofessional, uncomfortable, and not a place I would recommend at all, especially for families.

Walking into Guangdong Taste, my friends and I didn't realize it was a family-style dining spot, but that became clear pretty quickly once we looked around the restaurant and saw everyone else's food. The portions are big and meant for sharing, which worked perfectly since there were five of us. The real surprise for me was the rotating tabletop. I had never experienced one before, and it honestly made sharing dishes both fun and super convenient. We ordered a plethora of dishes: BBQ pork buns, custard buns, Cantonese roast duck, Szechuan chicken, stir-fried Chinese broccoli, and eggplant with garlic sauce. Everything we tried was delicious, no misses across the table. That said, the eggplant with garlic sauce was the standout for me; it was rich, savory, perfectly sauced, and absolutely the dish I kept going back for. Service was a tad slow, but the restaurant was clearly busy, so I get it. Nothing that ruined the vibe, just something to be aware of if you're in a rush. All in all, this was an excellent family-style dining experience with generous portions and great food. I'd definitely dine here again and next time, I already know I'm ordering that eggplant with garlic sauce. *Insert eggplant emoji* lol

Great food and faster service. Large space that does family style with large portions. This was plenty to feed three people and still had some left over and be under $80 is great. We got the beef tendon noodle soup, sesame chicken, house lo main, pork buns, custard buns and shrimp dumplings. Everything tasted great and we all left happily stuffed.

We always go here for a Chinese food fixed, food tastes are very consistent and delicious. Very tasty and could match with NY Chinatown. The service today is not so good that is why it is 4 not 5 star, it could really be improved. I asked 3 servers for a water refill. I understand it is busy but probably additional staff on a holiday will help. I appreciate the guy who seated us on a big table just to seat us in order. The restaurant's restroom is clean in spite of being busy. Will always be one of my favorite in the area.

Honestly... the options for Chinese food in vb suck lol but this one has definitely satisfied my taste buds. It is defintely a little pricier than most but you get alot of food. You can easily eat there and take home for the next day. The service is what it is. I wouldn't categorize it as horrible, they're just working fast. They've got to go orders to do plus the restaurant gets busy plus the language barrier plus some customers attitude do get crazy. So I can understand. But the food is honestly really good, I've only had one dish that wasn't the best, it was a seafood something, I cant remember. And their fried rice is brown, which is what it should be, NOT YELLOW!

Noisy, lively atmosphere, with service. The dishes smell great but prices have definitely gone up! I ordered the Salt and Pepper Triple Delight (shrimp, squid, and scallops), Mongolian beef,

Small little cute space. It is set up with mostly round tables to be able to have the family style experience. Everything you order is a very large quantity because it is meant to share. There is a circular table on top to be able to move the dishes around easily. There were 6 of us so it was a bit pricey but there was plenty of food to take home for another meal or two. Everything came out hot and tasty. My only recommendation would be to have a menu where you could order an individual meal if you did not want to share. The bathrooms were clean. They do have a full bar for cocktails. Noise level is a bit above average. It is wheelchair accessible but could be difficult to move around.

This was my first time at GuangDong. We went early in the day, so seating was plentiful. I was very eager to try the soup dumplings and my husband was eager to try the duck. We ordered the duck on the mixed platter and it was tasty along with the pork. My main entree was pan fried noodles with chicken and it had such a great flavor. The servings were also plentiful so we all shared dishes. At the table, we also had Sea bass and peppercorn squid. The squid was very good. It came to the table late, so we took most of it home. It lost its crunch, but not its flavor. Now let's talk soup dumplings. I read several other Yelp reviews to get a concerns us and I saw a lot of positive vibes. Overall, they had good qualities when they arrived to the table. They looked delicious, they were hot, and I could tell there was soup and a filler inside. I was a little disappointed at the amount of soup and the flavor. They were ok dumplings. 3.5 STARS! I would definitely visit again and I really enjoyed their food flavor. However, I am still on the hunt for the best soup dumplings in the 757!

The food was the most authentic Chinese cuisine I have had in the 757 area we went to celebrate my birthday back in 2023 and had made a reservation for 30 and it did not disappoint. If anything, most of the guest still bring up the experience / restaurant to this day because it was that memorable

Popular dim sum restaurant that was still quite busy on a Saturday night. Keep in mind that a dim sum order takes about 20 minutes. My order of lobster was ready before the dim sum. So just keep that in mind.

Delicious carry out dinner: half Steamed chicken with ginger and scallion sauce $15.50 and pan fried seafood noodles $17.95. I ordered in person at 5:45 pm on a Tuesday night, my order was ready in 20 minutes. The dinning room was not busy, just two families were eating and a few carryout orders ready for pick while I was waiting for my dinner. Lots of parking spaces available and well lite parking lot. I will return for duck noodle soup and fresh fish dishes.

I called earlier in the day to see if we should make reservations, but was told they wouldn't be busy. Well, we got there and while they had plenty of tables at 6:30PM, but 7PM that place was completely packed! They had lots of carry-out orders happening too, which all made the kitchen a little slow. We ordered many dishes to share and all started coming out one after another over the next hour until the beef & broccoli was the last dish. Again, I attribute the slowness of the kitchen to their being so busy. At least all the food that came out was very fresh, tasty, and piping hot. Some interesting items that were quite good were their potatoes and green peppers. This dish is something I've never seen before but was pretty good! It features long julienned potatoes that they clearly soak in water before wok'ing with the peppers - that was all that was in the dish, but it was still tasty. Their Fish in Chili Oil & Bean Sprouts was really tasty and fresh! The fish is flounder. Their spicy wontons in chili oil were very popular with our group too. Service here was friendly too and helpful. Like I said, we tried many items, so many more than I just outlined and all were nice. I'd definitely return for a slightly more elevated Chinese menu from what you get at the typical Chinese-American joints.

The honey roasted duck was tasty with a savory thick sauce to dip. We got white rice with our dishes. My husband asked for chopsticks, and there were none which was surprising. My family and I (5 people) came in to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday dinner and there was nobody but us in the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the server. He was dressed in jeans, hooded sweatshirt, a beanie and had a toothpick in his mouth. A bit out of the ordinary but to each their own for proper attire in what I would deem a upscale-ish restaurant. The real issue was him taking our order, seemed rushed. As we were deliberating and figuring out what we wanted. My girlfriend was talking about the scallion bubble pancakes. He came over and said, "I overheard you said the scallion pancakes, did you want to put in that order?" My girlfriend said no, she wanted everything to come out all at once. He said ok and then we walked off. Next thing we know, the pancakes came out WAY ahead of everything else we ordered. By like 15 minutes at least. When my girlfriend said something about it, the waiter said, he said outright " I never heard her say not to order them, she never said anything, and they are out right now". No apology, no I'll go ahead and fix that...nothing. When we we on the way out, we talked to the owner about the experience and the only thing he mentioned was that, the server was new and it's hard to find good employees because they revolve so quickly. Which wasn't really an answer at all. It was definitely a 180 degree turn from the first experience we had here which was 5 stars all around. I think given the experience, we unfortunately won't be coming back

That style of Chinese food is one of my favs. So, when visiting the area I came in for lunch on a Monday. Getting there around 1PM they had several table sat, which I was surprised to see, yet very happy to see too! It meant that there are others who value really good, Authentic Chinese food and flavors. I started with their cucumbers and asked for them to be spicy. Once they arrived, I have to say I was disappointed as they were fresh, but there was hardly any flavor to them at all and the "sauce" in the bottom of the dish wasn't actually tossed in with the cucumbers, rather they were just sat on top and the flavors were on the bland side. They also just tossed a bunch of whole cilantro on top, rather than pulling the leaves and chopping those and mixing them in, which is how the dish should have been served. Next up was their egg drop soup... yeah, it's an American-Chinese item, but it's a fav of mine and it came with the lunch item I ordered, which is the only reason I got it. It tasted great! I could tasted the freshness of all ingredients in it, but the fried wonton pieces that came with it were beyond horribly stale - NASTY! Those should never be served! My local, Fredericksburg Peter Changs (before they recently closed down) served amazing, fresh fried noodles to accompany soup. This is a management/chef issue that needs to be corrected with this location!! Next was the spicy chicken with peppers and onions... They were good, but far from spicy and definitely was missing some umami flavor I'm used to in this dish, from when I get it at other locations. I also tried their beef with three peppers... It came out looking not very authentic, rather quite "American" as it was saucy and resembling the beef from beef & broccoli. Flavor was ok, but far from what I've had with this particular dish in the past, which was very disappointing. Overall - service was nice. The food was too Americanized, which I suspect was why I saw so many people in there. Reviews for any authentic (Pakistani, Chinese, etc) place are typically mid-low level as most who use these review/social media sites are clueless as to what the food is actually supposed to taste like. I'll give this place a 3, but for authenticity it deserves a 2. Would I return, nope, there are too many places to try in the VA Beach area.
